it plays like a wannabe souls, right?

It's super janky

It's alright, I guess. It's fairly standard Souls-like combat, but with some anime kick to it. Biggest difference are Gifts, basically spells or anime attacks, but you're severely limited in their use thanks to your ichor meter being the size of a evaporating puddle almost all the time.

Its easy as fuck.
If you want to play any From game but are a gutless woman, try code vein. Its From-lite.

the creator's the only standout, i'd say. combat's pretty meh, story much the same, only works if you want a Dark Weeb game to run around in for a couple days.

actually, the level design's not too shabby, either.

is there any openness/interconnection to the world or is it levels?

>soulsfag considers himself hardcore as if his series was difficult
Many such cases.

>implying
This projection and interpretation says more about you than me, troon.
Froms games are the basis for every comparison because they made the souls-like genre. Not my fault CV is a shitty attempt at mimicking something better.

>it plays like a wannabe souls
It's obviously inspired by Souls, but the devs put more focus into combat than exploration. It's kinda like Elden Ring in that regard, except the bosses are designed intelligently and the controls are a lot more responsive. And the asset reuse is contained to a specific optional thing. It also has a much better magic /skill system than Souls.
It's a lot of fun, just don't expect much more than enjoyable combat and wholesome edgekino.

Levels are connected, like in other Souls games. I recall a skip was going to the mountain area and then doing a clip to drop far fuck down to reach the sand level.

Its a 7/10 game that's saved by its unique blood code system, waifufags, kino character weeb creator, and anime tier weeb story that's oddly wholesome-ish at times despite the edge it comes off as
I'd say that the 80-90% off is a decent price to grab it.
It's a good intro to souls games for those who usually have a hard time with them or want a more casual approach
NG+ can be that NPC's do more damage like in other souls game, OR it could be that its a simple NG with you having all your items and lvls but no bump in difficulty if you want to just stomp through everything.
Don't get the DLC, its trash.
And Io is best girl.

It's decent, I used to hate it but it gets the job done for being a competent action game with vaguely soulsian mechanics. Most of the fun comes from experiment with its combat and of course the character creator.
Barely, you could tell that it was meant to be a completely different game before it got retooled into a souls clone. Despite all its flaws, it's still fun.

I enjoyed it
t. bayonet and float dodging

It's more linear than DS3.

best girl is the blacksmith and don't you forget it

I bought it but never played it. Should I play it after beating a few games? Too busy playing God Eater Resurrection and 2 Rage Burst.

it's soulless, I played up until the final area and stopped because I couldn't be bothered finishing it

It's not bad. Only real problem is the enemy variety is really weak. Lots of nitpicks, but it has its charms. One interesting idea it has is that entire builds can be hotswapped so there's a lot to experiment with.

I really liked how it looks like the edgiest shit ever, but it's surprisingly uplifting and has an emotional core.

Actually, this is an E/v/a board.

Best non-From soulslike. Gameplay is decent, but it's the story/characters really puts it head and shoulders above the competition

Also comes with a couple of QOL improvements that I really wish Dark Souls had. Mainly, you don't need to scroll through your spells one at a time, and your alternate weapon slot doesn't affect your weight. Dark Souls could do the former by making spellcasts a combination of the catalyst button+face/dpad for up to 8 spells.

Yes, it has a good character creator.

The game itself is alright. For a 3rd party soulslike, it's better than Mortal Shell, but not as good as The Surge 2.

I have been thinking about getting it too. I like anime and I like soulsborn but if it is easy then idk.

The creator does look pretty good can I make my wife rem?

There's more to vidya than difficulty, user.

I would say I prefer it to the entire Souls series. There are far more options in combat, controls are more responsive, and it's balanced to have better encounter variety despite fewer unique enemies.

There's a couple points where the world branches, but you're forced to do everything after the first branch it in order so it doesn't really matter. Some of the individual levels are excellently labyrinthian and great to explore.

im not sure if i want to make a angsty self-interest character of myself or a big tited waifu character. decision decisions...

Easier with a companion, harder without one.

imagine complaining about cathedral.
You must have garbage spatial awareness

Code Vein having a good character creator is a forced meme, just because its le heckin anime doesn't mean its good. I mean you get a preset selection of like 4 outfits and they all look fucking stupid like something from KH with belts and buckles all over.
Plus the game just isn't very good.

Just do a level 1 playthrough then. That will keep your health and damage low, but it won't affect any of your build options. As an added bonus it makes it much easier to fully unlock your Gifts, because gift mastery XP is mainly dependent on fighting enemies that are higher level than you. If you are a real masochist you can also go level 1 without an NPC companion, but I found it plenty hard even with.

>outfits

not part of character creator

Its a blatant DS copy. They even went as far as copying entire areas as well as using same-y sound effects. This plus the incredibly cringe over the top edgy anime shit makes it hard to play if youre over the age of 15. I really dont mind anime stuff, but the God Eater team is on a whole other level if it comes to this.

Yes but If I am going to play a souls game I want a challenge. Elden ring was way too easy.
How is the boss design?

Not that user I'm
>level where its just the same textures repeated ad infinitum with barely any variation in the level itself
>not dogshit
If you are unironically defending that shovelware tier area you are 100% just being contrarian.

Small titted, minimum height waifu

>I really dont mind anime stuff, but the God Eater team is on a whole other level if it comes to this.

i thought it was the same team

It literally is though, have you even played the game? You select your characters base outfit through the CC and equip Veils over it which does help cover up the God awful actual clothes your character wears but ideally YES it wouldn't be part of the character creator.

I played it a couple times
It's a perfectly serviceable soulslike with cute anime girls and big tits
I've coomed to this game more times than I'd like yo admit, so if you're into that I'd recommend it highly

It's a really fun action game, go for it

It is, thats why I mentioned it. All of their games are like that. Even though it felt to me like they where trying especially hard to be edgy with Code Vein.

my little Yaksha can't be this cute

Attached: 20210701022709_1.jpg (1920x1080, 415.13K)

I made a shorty. Wouldn't recommend, it fucks with the cutscenes. Hands don't reach where they are supposed to. Fortunately you can save presets in a new game and then apply them to your current game (can't directly edit much in game).

>How is the boss design?
They are all arena boss fights centered around the combat system
There's some misses but most are all hits, there's nothing that stahds out as bad.

Bosses are animated in such a way that you have to memorize the timing for rolls instead of just reacting. The AI's behavior and hit detection are much clearer overall while moveset breadth is about the same, but there is no cheese and getting hit can be very punishing due to the prevalence of debuffs.

STR OR AGI build?

Its extremely mediocre with some of the best character creation. The cathedral level however made me quit the game. What absolute fucking garbage level design. im glad i pirated this game.

I don't remember ever having this issue desu.

It's the most "okay" game I've ever played.

I'm willing to defend its layout, as many retards claimed it was maze-like (due to their idiocy I guess) but I will agree it reuses textures a lot. The area with the miku boss does the same shit though

Cathedral is fucking garbage. Absolutely everything looks the same and you lose sense of direction when you move further in.

Maybe I was just conditioned by DS3 to look for the wrong thing but I'm pretty sure there's not a consistent cue.

Think I am going to pick it up then if I actually have to memorize the timing and patterns then it is already leagues above elden ring. Seriously I don’t think I memorized a single boss fight in that game

That's not how it does things
You can change preset stats and builds at any given time

I wish there was more crazy shit like not-Anor Londo.

Did you really somehow get lost despite the in game map and having functional eyes?

OP here that looks not fun

Might not look it, but it actually is.

it's not THAT long + it's broken up by a story segment in the middle in a completely different area

Why are there random flying buttresses everywhere? They're supposed to support walls so why are they on their own.

So exactly like Souls

youtu.be/qO_-b_1VWEk

sounds generic

janky souls with some meme skills and once you get to anor londo it gets stale as fuck

It was created by an tortured and nearly insane mind for the sole purpose of confounding intruders so that her waifu wouldn't have to murder them.

Code Pain

Great character creator. Passable souless game. Nothing horrible enough to say this is shit but at the sametime not good enough to reccomend. Its yep thats anime soul.

The whole steucture is made of a biomass harder than everything on Earth
