Would be based if there was a Rune Bear summon that went hostile immediately upon being brought into the world.

i feel bad for these guys. there's generally one of two in military camps trying their best flinging their 10dmg pebbles

For me it's the poison spewers

Is this boss arena off leash?

Fromsoft didn't finish their game.

>Summons can be an easy mode and a hard mode
That would be a cool idea

I like the imp twins, they're cute little buggers

I would be fine with spirit summons if the game was balanced around them, but it's clearly not. From's enemy AI has always sucked since Demon's Souls and it's hardly changed or improved. The moment the enemy boss has to deal with both the player and an ally, it has no clue what the do and the fight becomes a joke. It's a shame that they took this approach and decided to overtune all the bosses to be extra hard; it doesn't even feel fair and balanced anymore, it's just fucking obnoxious. By the time you get to Maliketh, it's almost impossible to win without some ultra cheese or a very specific overpowered build, or you just use your favorite summon and win effortlessly. It's such a fucking shame; not even Nameless King, Dancer, or Soul Of Cinders took it this far, all so they can accommodate their shitty summons but without updating their awful AI.

love me free summons, love me free upgrades

I always liked id software’s ai and code. Lots of programming and thought went into how they should behave. They didn’t do input detect. The combat is obviously not the same as elden ring and dark souls but I always wondered why the horn blower had to call for help in elden ring to make enemies come gang up on you otherwise they don’t hear much or see much.
Crazy how people are still catching up to id after all these years in my opinion.

In Demon's the bosses always felt doable and fair. And sometimes there was a puzzle element to beat them. Since DaS, but especially the sequel the emphasis is on making the player suffer.
ER takes it to the same "heights" as DaS3, if not worse.

My clockwork lads are fun.

The only legitimate way to cheese the game.

>the game wasn't balanced around summons
>they made bosses harder because of summons
Well, which one is it?

Yeah, I just don't kill nobles or peasants at this point

Now her eyes are wrong.

i miss the rat covenant a lot

I fell for a post that said he turns into a revenant at +10

i will genocide every noble until they drop their headband

Kek

I'm convinced their drop rates are in the single digits

it clearly is balanced around them because if you're by yourself the boss mashes you into oblivion without a single rest

Ancestral Follower was my boy.

It's literally .5% for Headband and their Slender Sword.

its rare? lol i have 2

I see you are a man of culture as well

Nice reading comprehension. The AI is fucked and always has been throughout the franchise. It simply doesn't work with summons. But From thought they had such a cool idea that they wanted to keep it in the game. Instead of improving the enemy AI to accommodate this new feature, they instead decided to overtune the game's difficulty, making the game unreasonable to complete without summons, or at least far more difficult to a degree than anything else they've done before. Play without summons, and you're in for a cavalcade of utter bullshit. Play with summons, and the game practically plays itself and gives you free wins. Your only other choice is to become a turbo autist and memorize every tiny facet of the boss' moves down to the frame data and risk/reward possibilities, cheese it with very specific builds and broken abilities, or just use summons. None of these options are fun. Like, maybe the first one is fine once or twice, when it's like that for half the fucking bosses in the game, I'm checking out, and it doesn't help when the very end is a boss rush.

You found your tarnished ma'am.... You was just a bit late is all...

Oh yeah, but I remember one of those fuckers sniping me from all the way up a hill when I went inside a camp of those Cuckoo knights, his annoying glintstone pebbles caused my death.

Agreed. Doom isn't too amazing by today's standards, but it still remains effective, engaging, and fun. Not every game needs AI on that level, but the fact that Doom's AI is more complex than any of From's Souls games is pathetic. The more complex each Souls game gets, the more the cracks show.

I'd say Dark Souls 3 is still alright, but you're definitely right; they've been going in this direction ever since Dark Souls 1, or at the very latest since the Artorias Of The Abyss DLC. I just never expected them to fuck it up this bad.

Kristoff is my brother-in-arms

Yeah, but when you do have a summon, you get to wail on a boss for a quarter of it's health without even trying while he's distracted. You're not even engaging in the fight at that point; it's fucking stupid and pointless.

You did NOT beat the game.

The boys

Love the boys like you wouldnt believe. Killed a boss which had a sliver of health left after i died, getting me the kill

Same. They're the only summon I use

You're right, but Fromfags will never accept it. I just summoned and got it over with, it's not like Souls game have stellar combat mechanics to begin with. They only had great encounter design but they threw that out the window.

Basically how I see it as well. Elden Ring has fantastic visuals and atmosphere, but so much else of the game is a shitshow. Yet, it somehow sold insanely well and all the normies love it. This shit sucks.

they're really fucking good too
Almost solo anything vulnerable to bleed for most of the game

>cheese
heh

They love it because with summons, op ashes and weapon arts, it's the easiest Souls game ever. It's got a great world to explore and the boss designs are still great.

It's just if you enjoyed the well tuned difficulty, it's completely gone. It's either a tedious waste of 10 minutes where you dodge 7 attacks, then get a single poke in or it's the opposite and you win with a summon while not learning a single thing. By the end of the game I was so bored of all the boss fights and it doesn't help that they start recycling them like crazy.

>hello fuck you sir have a nice day

Attached: avionette_soldier_ashes_elden_ring_wiki_guide_200px.png (200x200, 18.76K)

unpopular opinion, I didn't find many of the bosses to be super flail-y, at least not to the point people said, and didn't have a super hard time matching their aggression

How many bosses can a +10 of these guys handle alone?
They'll mog a Crystallian or Black Knife, because input reading stops even after they become corpses until they get back up

2EZ

What weapon did you use?

Well, I played through with a Strength weapon so maybe the other playstyles have a more interesting time.

I think the whole point of ng+ sounds you can mess around with different play styles and weapons

For me it was Latenna.

You can respec 13 times within even just your original file, there's no chance I'm slogging through a game this huge again during such a flood of games. By the time I was sick of the game it was the last area and I just wanted it over with.

Great Epee + Incants
Yeah, big slow's aren't great unless you have something fast like Catch Flame to back them up

>mfw finding out she can climb onto random enemy wolves to gain mobility

These motherfuckers are absolutely crazy. The fact that there are 5 of them, they all teleport like Lhutel, half of them have fucking shields, and they are all insanely aggressive in combat make them hilarious to watch. At +10 they can literally solo a huge chunk of NG+ bosses by swarming and beating the shit out of them. And anything that can be staggered gets absolutely fucking obliterated by them in short order. It's amazing to watch.
