Spamton constantly references [heaven], and when you beat him peacefully the mural from his shop appears as he mentions it. And if you think about it, a bright and sunny day with blue skies and green grass has no way of existing in dark worlds. So, with everything he's saying, he wants to escape the Dark World and enter [heaven]. Which is either the Light World in-game, or real life.

If you think about it, Spamton constantly tells Kris that he wants his soul. But, Kris doesn't have a soul. He has (you). So it can be inferred that rather than using a human soul to escape the Dark World he wants to use the player to escape the game. But it just doesn't work that way.

Chapter 2 is practically a callback to that, though. You think that Kris did something funny and innocent with his free will. And he probably did. But in Chapter 2 he fucking slashes Toriel's tires and visibly, irrefutably, in your fucking face opens up a dark fountain.
This is like the opposite of subversion. Toby is telling you directly that Kris is the fucking knight, he's the most likely suspect. He's setting up blatant evidence. But he isn't, for no reason besides not having all the facts.

Is the obvious conclusion. But just like the pie was lampshaded shortly before the chapter 1 ending, what was lampshaded before the chapter 2 ending? Susie commenting on how the dark world are nice, and how to bring the darkners to the light world.
Kris is trying to follow Susie's plan. Bringing Ralsei and Lancer to the light world, and also spend more time with her in an adventure. He slashed the tires so she would stay the night, then opened a fountain to have another adventure with her.

If Kris is the knight, who we know opened up the library fountain, then how did he do so after Noelle and Berdly arrived to study (so that they would already be inside the computer lab), but before he later showed up with Susie? I'm not the other user but I'm in the camp that this is a big knight misdirect, and Kris is now applying the info he learned from Queen for the first time for his own separate mysterious purposes.

I'm pretty sure wanting a world to please Noelle was his motivation for aligning with Queen's meme world domination scheme. And that dark world looked all technical because it was literally a computer lab. Queen describes the same knight as in chapter 1 creating this second fountain, and there's apparently even blurry footage of this happening.

Berdly and Noelle imagined the whole thing. They truly believed everything they were told in the dark world to the point that it altered real life. The point of contention is how they visibly wake up. You could argue that they simply rationalized everything that happened as a dream, so obviously they have to be asleep, and they had to have fallen asleep. It's tricking themselves into believing it. Everything they say about falling asleep and waking up like that is a product of their imagination. Nothing put them to sleep. They probably entered just like Susie and Kris entered the storage room. The fountain was already there from the night previous.
