What did Guilty Queer do to manage to somehow stay competitive with the top fighting games and attract casuals that KOF couldn't do?
Fighting Games
Losing 90% of your playerbase and more while doing worse than a shit literal-who game series like Guilty Gear and an especially shit game like Strive isn't good in any capacity. It's also not good seeing as it's not even 2 months from release.
it looks good and normies like anime now
You're making the biggest mistake by thinking the PC player base is somehow relevant to fighting games. When you get the active daily users for the other platforms, then we can start talking about this shit. Steam numbers are a fucking meaningless metric.
>PC player base is somehow relevant to fighting games
it's the main platform for them
>than a shit literal-who game series like Guilty Gear and an especially shit game like Strive isn't good in any capacity.
Have you considered a fact that you might be a contrarian and people think its a good game and thats why they play it lol?
the cope has arrived kek. Only poor mexicans with mothers that send them to buy tortillas to the store play kof, a game for literal animals.
>it's the main platform for them
Hahahahahahaha. Holy shit this is the most delusional thing I've seen in ages. No user, you've clearly never paid attention to the online health of fighting games on multiple platforms. The PC player base is always the smallest. The only thing the PC player base has over the other platforms is that it usually contains the strongest concentration of pro players, but they will always be in the minority by the simple factor they are pro players. You end up fighting the same hand full of people over and over again.
Those same people also watch Maximilian Dood and also play Smash so I don't really care about their opinions on any game.
Shouldn't you be posting "TRANS RIGHTS" for Testament on your twitter right now?
Does anyone have that image of Jack-O in lingerie, I-No in a slingshot bikini, and Millia in a leotard all sitting on a desk?
>Those same people also watch Maximilian Dood and also play Smash so I don't really care about their opinions on any game.
I never played Nintendo game especially shit like Smash and I dont watch that nigger faggot Dood.I play Guilty Gear for over a decade now and I really like Strive.
Looks good, sounds good, kill fast and die fast, best netcode of any fighting game released in the past 5 years, not too much downtime when you decide to rematch
Kill yourself steamchart poster
i still wonder how fucking melty blood got almost 2x of new KoF's peak but also how it lost so many players instantly to this day despite them giving away DLC for fucking free lmao.
s-strivesoys w-were outsold by my overlord snk-sama's snk heroines, hahahaha >:(( shatter all expectations >:(((
I like Strive and didnt played new KoF so I cant judge it as a game but you are obsessed nigger faggot spamming this shit in every single fighting game/KoF thread since its release. Get a life subhuman.
>Holy shit this is the most delusional thing I've seen in ages.
cope
Does GGS still have the incredibly long connecting to server bs after you start up the game?
>didnt played
I imagine a bunch of typemoon fags who never played the first game bought it and then realize they sucked at fighting games
No user, I know from experience and I know your experience is from watching too many Twitch ecelebs.
The latest patch dramatically improved the loading time.
It works while kof online fucks up.
I can get a match in GG anytime besides right after maintenance in 10 seconds. Kof took 5 minutes even with 5k players. It's an offline game or a game you play in private match
Its still long but I use totsugeki on PC so I never had problem with that shit.
No it didnt they improve it by like seconds patch by patch but its still long lmao.
It's not fun
Melty Blood had trendy memes and it being the next Fighting Game releasing after Strive. It also had lots of shilling from some of the FGC and people like Sajam/Majin Obama. KOF 15 basically had nothing Strive or Melty Blood did. It looked worse than both, didn't have any trendy thing but Shermie's reveal only for them to be retards and ride the momentum of it, and no real e-celebs were shilling except Maximilian Dood.
kof fags don't want the "casuals" anyway, they constantly assure everyone else vehemently that casuals would only stink up their air and ruin their precious fighting game series
who needs numbers when you have friends, and family
It plays good. I don't care what the braindead fgsheep say, KoF is wonky garbage that nobody in their right mind would play.
Hopping every 0.02secs is absolutely horrendous design and only spics enjoy it. The gameplay of KoF is a dumpster fire. But because it has hard inputs, you have to pretend it's good.
kof xv is just amazingly ugly. the animations look stiff and the models look like shit. cool game but definitely affects the experience a little bit.
>no real e-celebs were shilling except Maximilian Dood.
user obama literally was shilling kof hard he even was doing pre-release gameplay streams from some event others also were talking and streaming it hard during first days of release. im suprised about its numbers because kof character trailers have more views than strives for example even non coomer chars do lol.
peasants squabble as the true king reigns
Oh yeah, forgot to add that it was also the 3rd new Fighting Game to release within a year after Strive stopped the drought of new ones for a while so the new Fighting Game dopamine that was going on wore off by then.
That new version of shield is genuinely terrible, if I recall xrd had crouching blitz shield which costed the same meter for overdrives and rc's that used to work against mids and lows but they were smart enough to make it not work against mids later on. Kamone however is making it so you have more reasons to do the gay rps bullshit with the new patch since now you can shield after non invincible ex moves.
I dunno I got it december and the longest I've had to wait for the communicating server thing is like 13 seconds max
Strive on ps4 has half the playerbase it has on pc source: the elo site
Tekken has the biggest player base on pc, source: Harada himself.
Only game I can see having a bigger playerbase on console is mk due to being casual dogshit and sfv because it was free on ps plus
>they constantly assure everyone else vehemently that casuals would only stink up their air and ruin their precious fighting game series
What about any of that is untrue though? Strive is a boring braindead game filled with Smash players and non-heteros from the result of it being dumbed-down for casuals.
>Tekken has the biggest player base on pc, source: Harada himself.
Wasn't always the case. It has ended up that way, though there's lots of speculation that the numbers are because of bots farming chests in the single player mode.
how did brawlhalla do it?
>How did a F2P game do it?
kof is doing great.
strive however has the casual appeal while simultaneously turns pro players off, so its a scrub's paradise.
Which pros hate it?
This but for some reason SNK fans keep pretending visuals don't matter and aren't a big factor in Fighting Games.
true. you can only be popular when your game looks beautiful like pic related.
>of course it's popular, it's f2p
you are replying to actual tranny avatarfag using dizzy. dont bother.
Fantasy strike is genuine garbage in both looks and gameplay. Atleast brawlhalla lets me shoot a gun and is actually kind of fun even if I'd rather play anything else.
That unironically looks more appealing to most people than KOF 15 does. Look at Terry right now and tell me his model doesn't look like ass. His armpit looks deformed.
They dropped the ball with KoFXV with bad matchmaking, if the matchmaking were solved it would be at constant 2k
and kofxv must be exciting that people who are searching for mirth are flocking in droves to get down to the excitement
any other excuse, like "people only play kof on ps4" or something? so as to be self-assured that kofxv is still being played by more than just a few hundred a day
they need to fire some of them modelers with their horrible sense of anatomy and aesthetics
there are some who look allright/pretty good (for kofxv) and then there are quite a lot of models that just stick out like sore thumbs even now
i thought they had 6 years to polish this shit? i mean, "quality over quantity" as opposed to 50 fighters in kofxiv, right? pffffbt but where's the quality
...or did they mean QUALITY
Maybe people who play brawlhalla doesn't care about combat in games and just want to mash around
This has been the case since Xrd and Tekken 7. Denying it is console remorse.
>It's bad because I'm not good at it
user...
Right time in the right place. One of the smash clones thats on a non-nintendo platform was bound to get popular and brawlhalla happened to be it. I hear it has decent dev support as well
>That unironically looks more appealing to most people than KOF 15 does
no. shitty clip art in motion does not look better than lol ps2 graphics. everyone thought XIV was ugly but no one other than Yea Forums denizens feels that way about XV.
>gorgeous visual effects
>kofxv
hehahahehehe
>no one other than Yea Forums denizens feel that way about XV
holy cope dude. it's not a bad game but there's no sense lying to yourself about its visuals they're really really mediocre at the very best. the only potential upside is that there's a lot of visual clarity to the moves but that's just being gracious. comparing it to fucking brawlhalla which also looks like shit doesn't prove anything.
everyone memed on ps2 andy with XIV but i've seen absolutely nothing similar with XV. if it's such a huge issue, don't you think people would make noise about it like they did previously? but all i see the same guy on Yea Forums posting the same "work-in-progress" screenshot of terry from the reveal trailer.
Where do I start when picking up fighting games?
Combos? Defense? Terminology?
You can't see KOF's real numbers because all the players are in various lavanderia arcades instead of steam.
>thinking every fighting game has a huge PC community
KoF isnt that big in the west (USA) so most of the top players are mexico and below, and are on console not PC.
honestly crazy that most of these have bounced back and are above these early numbers of avg players now or at one point in their lives
Strive is pretty easy to get into, there's some depth but even very braindead attack attack attack special combos can deal 1/3+ depending on the character. It also probably has one of the better online experiences for a fighter besides the initial connecting to servers bit
learn to block, like literally block everything even on wake up
then learn your buttons range
then learn what to do when you are knockdown in the ground
then learn how to knockdown people with throws and sweeps
then learn a very basic combo to do when someone gets countered, in this step i would recommend to just join in ranked and see which buttons make you get guarantee hits and then see if you can combo out of them, see which buttons make you feel comfortable
then learn a blockstring, this is basically a combination of buttons that have certain range or certain pushback or certain advantage in momentum that lets you not get countered
then learn to pressure after you knockdown someone so you can get the momentum going
congrats you can actually play the mind game instead of labbing combos for 30 hours and wondering why you cant connect anything
why are we talking about "noise" on twitter or some shit just use your eyes and look at the game bro. it looks fucking bad for a modern fighter period.
>though there's lots of speculation that the numbers are because of bots farming chests in the single player mode
its hilarious that /fgg/ schizos think katsuhiro "they use buzzwords like rollback, and netcode" harada would put anywhere near enough effort to fuck with bots. if you want to know what a highly botted game looks like just see team fortress 2s player numbers
Defense. Don't worry about combos, just look up terminology as it comes. The hardest thing to learn in every fighting game is defense. In any fighting game, if you just block, the average person will kill themselves doing unsafe things trying to get to you.
He doesn't look any better after release user. Being a work-in-progress did fuck-all.
buttons or moves have certain properties that make them good, they either
>generate enough pushback that its hard to reach you after you land them on block, this is a poking tool that can be used as a spacing trap (meaning the pushback makes the next move of your opponent whiff and then you intercept and counter him)
>generate enough momentum by making your opponent be in a long blockstun after they block it, these leave you with enough time to follow up while your opponent is forced to just block, they make you have frame advantage by moving sooner and letting you do more pressure, these moves usually are very short in range and are used to do frame traps
>they are fast enough so you can interrupt your opponent before he does something, think of jabs
>they are easy to confirm for combos because of long hitstun, like a medium punch or a low medium kick
It tried this crazy thing called being fun and accommodating new players. KOF15 flopping has absolutely BTFO out of every 09er dipshit saying fighting games would be better off if they regressed like 15 years.
The entire reason KoF dropped in players is the matchmaking issues, the gameplay in Strive is actually ass
Strive's lobbies quite literally didn't work on launch, the issues with its online were far worse than KOF15's. You literally had to leave lobbies and rejoin sometimes because the game just wouldn't let you match with anyone at complete random. Keep coping.
Sure Pedro its just matchmaking and visuals or whatever a fact it had twice smaller peak than fucking toilet tier Melty Blood before people even knew about matchmaking or whatever you cope with is also a sole reason of such a small peak too.
If Street Fighter VI isn't F2P, with quality matchmacking and netcode, then Riot is going to take the fighting game throne when Project L comes out. Just FYI.
