The vineyard level sucked

I didn't mind that one. There are a lot worse

I don’t like the new hitman games and I can’t pinpoint why. I’ve been playing them since the very first hitman game.

I like to mass murder people on that level

awful voice work in 1, lame levels in 2 and always online garbage for all three

games really fun otherwise

I can see that, I recently played 3 and it seemed like they really pushed to make it a not-James Bond game with a lot of spectacle. The busywork missions can be fun, but grinding mastery gets tedious. I remember when Bloodmoney and Contracts came out, I was just as hype for the OST as I was for the game. They were so strange and different. The newer osts are fine, but much more movie background music than the previous

I felt they got too structured around those Story Kills or whatever they were called. Even if you play on Master or with the hints off the extremely cinematic over the top kills scenarios feel prioritized in a level design way. It's strange feeling like the scenario specific methods involving all these seemingly complex steps with you overwriting some military soldier robots target tracking is easier to pull off than an unremarkable non-scripted kill sequence, and with so much detail put into them I always felt like I was robbing myself of something going for a lower tech kill as well whereas in past games those cinematic ideal kills each level had weren't so much more interesting that it devalued a simpler kill by that much.

Turn off the quest markers. This makes everything closer to Contracts/Blood Money.

The new trilogy is pretty neat in that you can play it as a walking simulator, an adventure game, a puzzle game, a stealth game, a social stealth game, a shooter, or mix and match as you please.

The problem is that in 1 and 2 the Mission Stories make everything too obvious, but in 3 there's tons of little things you can completely miss because they got rid of most of the Mission Stories and a lot of NPC interactions are timed or too specific. IOI needs to get better at making obvious tells without resorting to quest markers.

Its half off on Steam? Should I get it or wait for lower price?

I don’t see it getting any cheaper on the summer sale

Fantastic games, user, good value even at full price I'd say.

not saying no one should talk about it here but is a thread purely about the value going on right now so you might want to lurk that as well

Dubai is good, but all of the other hitman 3 maps are way too easy. I did saso as my first blind runs in the hitman 3 maps and was able to clear them all without difficulty over the course of about 15-20 minutes. For reference it took me about 2-3 hours to saso sapienza. H3 was a dud

15-20 minutes per level*

I liked it
>lame levels in 2
kek

it’s not 2016 anymore

Apex Predator in Germany was the highlight of 3 for me.

I liked the train level. I wouldn't mind a linear level every now and then to just mix things up. I don't want it to become the default by any means, but it was a neat level.

I wish I could play that level for the first time again. Specifically having to find targets with no indication where they were under constant threat was very intense.

>There are featured contracts you cant SA/SO

AHHHHRGGGH IOI IM GOING INSANE

It was a waste of a map wtf are you talking about, inexcusable for a game designed around infinite replayability

Apex Predator really managed to capture the tone they wanted in Absolution, pay good homage to the original game's more sinister tone, and retain some of the more campy aspects. It was a very good level overall.

>still not a single patch addressing any of the million VR issues

the majority of escalations require disguises, anyone hoping for that much completionism should just let go

Same.
And at the end when their handler wanted to cut losses and ordered the remaining ones to escape I saw two people running up a stairwell and assumed, you know, who else could they be? Punched both down the stairs and domed them and just left them there as I exited quickly to try and see if I could see the last couple fleeing. That was the most fulfilling mission in the new trilogy for me.

I really love how it's been maintained throughout the series that 47 is in a tier of his own when it comes to being an assassin. I love how many times you find yourself having to kill a rival assassin or assist an incompetent one.

I just thought it was interesting to see these mechanics used in a tighter environment. Kind of reminded me of Splinter Cell a bit. Like I said, it's not the default I want for the series, but I wouldn't mind seeing some sequences like this incorporated into future entries.

3=1>2 for nuHitman
2 maps turned out to be very big for my taste. Although bank and island are pretty good

>Miami S tier

Huh, that map fucking sucks, the track area and the R&D lab are so disconnected, and the whole map is split on half by the stupid track making it tedious to navigate East to West

I had the same experience, but I was outside dropping the cement-thing from the crane, and I hear their operator aborting, and I saw like 4 guys running past me, so i just gunned them down

All hitman games had linear shootout final levels, dummy

Miami blows

Whittleton Creek is S, Dubai is A minimum

>Whittleton Creek is S
Too FLAT

It makes up for it by being comfy (see also: kino)

>bad level
>has best kill

The other target in that level is too boring. It takes way too long to get up to the penthouse and actually be able to do anything.

But you're completely right, I love stuff like this where you can get personal with your targets.

Everyone points to the other funnier or darkly humorous points, but this was the peak of the nutrilogy when it came to 47's character at his peak. Stone cold, heartless, zero hesitation. Perfect.

It's been a while since I played Miami, but I have fond memories of it
>disconnected
Yeah, that's true. I would have put Whittelton on S if it weren't for the clues, either make them static and not random so I can gather them whenever, or don't have them

>Nice thematic level you have here but it really needs an underground complex

What is Chingchong

>playing all 3 games
>get to Chongching
>just randomly happen across some chinese woman looking at a river
>has some heart to heart with 47 about her friend
>didn't even appear to be part of a story mission chain or open up anything
wait what were the games filled with these and i missed every single one?

it’s hard to even pay attention to npcs after a while when everything they say is either a cringeworthy quip about your disguise or every woman thirsting over you in the default suit, if they do exist I’ve yet to see any of them

i think 47 took out an umbrella or leaned on the railing or something so it was pretty hard to miss when you got close enough, and everything not a quip that was a conversation with subtitles was mission relevant
if other 47-talks-with-random-person scenes like that existed in a similar way it blows my mind i missed them but its just as strange that it would be something they only do once.

>, either make them static and not random so I can gather them whenever
they are though except for 1 which moves and you only need 3 out of 6

the moving one might as well be static since you can just run straight into the garage in the first 30 seconds and get it before he leaves

I haven't played that one in a little while, but isn't there 3 tidbits that you need to overhear. And getting some of the other clues, like the robe, won't count if it isn't among the 3 random clues, or you overheared it? I could swear when i did it the first time I found the robe, got the microfilmed and watched it in the bbq attic, and I was still missing one piece as I didn't 'get the right one'

Lots of stuff like that throughout the game. One of the easiest to catch is the mission after Dubai: the old lady and her guilt over the death of his brother, if you choose to frame it as suicide.

I wish we would get a social stealth game but with a femme fatale protagonist
and it's also a porn game

i have played every hitman with the intent of killing as many people as possible

What did you think was wrong with Haven, Paris, Miami, Bangok, and Marrakesh?

Marrakesh just has a lot of dead space. Long hallways full of civilians and interactables that don’t mean anything because the targets will never go there. It’s like two micro-levels with some legwork in between. The escalations and dlc mission however make ample use of these areas, which is the best thing about the level and mission design in these games, but as far as the main mission goes it’s too noticeable.

Also the voice acting is horrendous and the obnoxious dialogue makes retrying missions for SA/SO a nightmare, but that’s every hitman 1 level

In my best run i just went under Janus's house and grab the photo, get the lawsuit papers from Fatty Bolger or whatever his name is and grab his shovel to dig up the box without hearing any of the hints for these

some of them cover the same “topic” or whatever, like the photograph in the basement and the microfilm, so they won’t progress the mission if you already know the specific part they represent, be it the meeting existing, the discussion with Janus and the constant, or the helicopter

>Also the voice acting is horrendous and the obnoxious dialogue makes retrying missions for SA/SO a nightmare, but that’s every hitman 1 level
Marrakesh is one of the easier SA/SO's in the first hitman

Depends if you like chore simulators or not. It's a cool concept, but it boils down to completing a huge checklist of nonsense to do in levels. It attempts to make you feel smart for figuring out ways to kill people, but the game tells you exactly what to do. Even if you turn off the objective list the NPCs give huge exposition dumps of exactly what you should do when you walk by them. Only dumb people will enjoy this game.

Sure but it still takes a while having to restart over little mistakes. Mostly getting into the consulate.

Having to hear yuri lowenthal and british lady go on about capitalism and western imperialism going around every street corner just completely takes me out of the level, makes the effort to actually try with phony accents in 2 that much more appreciated
