Why don't just you play games from genres you like then?
I don't give a shit about soccer or driving but there'd be no point complaining about them.

>1st game is a management sim
>liked the story
>2nd game is a deckbuilder and a direct sequel to 1
>forced to play it

I get that Firaxis maybe didn’t feel like making XCOM 3 right now but why that Marvel card shit abomination

>>forced to play it
Take your meds

Holy shit that list is based. All the things I hate in video games.

>forced to play it
You have a gun forced to your head retard? If you hate the genre so much but care about the story just watch a letsplay/nocommentary or [Game]: The Movie video type

WAR IS LE....BAD!!!

Just to be clear anons:
>What I like > What you like
Non-negotiable, non-debatable.

Because there are a bunch of games I've seen that I would unironically play except they have tacked on card elements that just ruin the entire thing.

she enjoyed the german dicking

Recently got Gloomhaven on discount and was like uh this sucks.

>game is a card game

>female protag
There was a time when these games were based
>bloodrayne
>tomb raider
>suideki

it used to be...LE GOOD!

I feel I need to watch that film, but I never get around to it.

Slay the Spire is addicting as fuck and you cannot convince me otherwise.

it's an acquired taste and it's really not great as a single player experience

They are, it's a half-hearted way of abstracting character building

I just found that out lol. Hard as shit too I thought it would be enjoyable. I was looking for a dungeon crawling fig-type game in a D&D style thought it would fit the bill.

>buy card game
>wtf why are there cards in it????

>blocks your path

Fuck off to Ukraine if you think war is so good

>roguelike
yikes

Funny how you leave out the biggest elephant in the room...

deck games can be interesting because having your pool of available abilities constantly change can make things more engaging. They should just not call them "cards" though.

>it's a [game genre]
>BUT WITH CARDS!
And bad when they just slap cards on top of the game, like Back4Blood, but then try to build the it around the idea of something+cards, it's usually shit.

what's that?

>"Roguelike"
>it's a grindfest with a sprinkle of replayability

lurk moar before you sperg out over a meme faggot
kys

>take video game inventory
>add a background image to every item call them cards
Is that seriously all it takes to ruin a game?

I know that not all of this applies to every game, but this new trend of randomized levels, randomized characters, randomized leveling up, and calling it a rogue lite card deck game, like what happened to designing a game lmao.

Name a single game that doesn't contain any of that

This was free on PS plus this month and I've never been more turned off by reading a game's description than I have with this.
>Slay the Spire is a roguelike deck-building video game
Oh jesus fucking christ who even plays this shit?

yes

Forgot pic

Every game has at least one of those things

it's genuinely a brilliant game

the majority of games I like fit those criteria

lol sperg. That's not hot it works.

...ruined your faggotry.

Shandalar was fucking awesome.

Ico, SotC and TLG don't have a single one of those, nor do the vast majority of 2D platformers, metroidvanias etc

>Game is a deckbuilder
>it came out after Slay The Spire

Why even fucking bother? The peak was already achieved.

>implying Baten Kaitos isn't a great card-combat game

fuck you i love bandit camps

>protagonist talks to themself
ok this i can at least get behind. I'm tired of every fucking game having your character giving themselves the "ok you got this" pep-talk. bonus points if they react to everything with stuff like "oh my god" or swearing. It's hilarious to me watching AGDQ running the re2make and the audience hooting and hollering whenever the characters swear because AGDQ is also anti-swearing

As opposed to points?

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is the best game in the series though (at least top 3)

You have bad taste in videogames

Attached: 51dciF3dhTL._SX466_.jpg (466x264, 42.28K)

dialogue is between characters not between the character and the audience. the counter argument being examine text being your characters "internal dialogue" but they aren't literally saying it to you, you are going out of your way to examine it and the text you read is the thoughts of the character that you wouldn't be able to hear to begin with.

Lol, do you really want a new Xcom when Chimera Squad was a total subversion of what the game stood for, which was a revolt against an invading alien army by a human supremacist militia? Chimera Squad you played alien trannies and killed humans. Supposedly it was supposed to own the nazis or something.

user, characters in games like TLOU, Uncharted, Horizon literally talk to themselves when nobody is around, you can see their lips move and everything

you realize that's what I wrote, right? I was just elaborating after someone posted that twitter screencap. It's ok for games to have examine text where they would be "saying something when nobody is around" because they are literally thinking it but them TALKING to themselves is different.

ur mom

Some card vidya is good, might be cheating because it comes from a board game but Gloomhaven game is pretty good and it's all about organizing cards and synergizing them among the different characters
