How did Elden Ring revert from Sekiro's perfect combat to this?
How did Elden Ring revert from Sekiro's perfect combat to this?
FS literally always does this. They make actual progress but then just straight up ignore it for the next games.
See BB quickstep -> DS3 rolling. Why the fuck would you go back to something that stupid
must've been handled by a different team.
You don't understand. Fromsoft games that are funded by Bamco are prone to change based on the majority of the player feedback. If Dark Souls sells good that means they are going to further rehash the same shit that made them money. They wanted to take risks with DS2 which was a good attempt at making something more unique than the first game if the development process didn't get butchered during mid development which would have made a lot of profit for them from DS2 but after taking a risk with it and having a lot of enraged fans bitching about the game Bamco decided taking major risks isn't a reliable way of making money from their titles. This is why Elden Ring seems so streamlined and boring because it was entirely shaped around player feedback and the average player is a fucking retard.
Why is Mimic always your best buddy?
Sure, blame the players for critiquing a piece of shit game.
I am not blaming the players. I am blaming Bamco's PR team for being so utterly retarded.
that's called a bug
haven't happened to me once in +20 attempts against this boss
also git gud
you are supposed to roll INTO enemies
Sekiro combat is extremely braindead and shallow though. It's a literal r1 mashing game.
>20 attempts
>git gud
you absolute nigger
No, it is not. Apparently, you haven't beat the game.
I'm convinced this meme is being parroted only be a very small handful of dedicated retards. You're wronf
Only thing I don't like about Sekiro combat is that if you push your joystick in whatever direction, even to the front, when trying to mikiri counter, you will do the normal dodge instead, good job dodging into the fucking attack - why the fuck would i ever want to do that lmao.
I know it's a git gud thing but I'd still like it if dodging into an attack still counted as a mikiri counter despite joystick being used at the time
that doesn't happen
>DS1 fags hate DS2 because it's not DS1
>DS2 fags hate DS3 because it's not DS2
>DS3 fags hate Sekiro because it's not DS3
>Sekiro fags hate ER because it's not Sekiro
>hey, players seemed to really like Dark Souls! Let’s experiment with the next installment!
>what if we made Dark Souls, but bad?
>DS2
Thank God BB was also being developed
Budget cuts
post sekiro webms
that's a bug but this boss does suck ass
>He got filtered by having to hold the joystick up and press B at the same time
opinion discarded
do you know just how astronomically low the chances of that happening are?
if he beat the boss without falling back and relying on extra mechanics, then he got gud
Embarrassing. Even codfags have higher standards.
i hate elden ring because the combat is a direct downgrade from their previous game.
I swear sekiro droolers are the lowest IQ nonthinking retards ever. Go back to watching football on television absolute shit-for-brains retards
sekiro is the better game, troon. go back to your dark souls 3 clone thanks
Maybe because they knew how fucking asstrash sekiro was? there is a reason for no DLC. That whole system is beyond redemption bad
your IQ is so low it's a miracle you can even function. There is literally no gameplay in sekiro it's just the flashy animation that make your apebrain light up
Sekiro has the best combat system, but anyone who thought it would be the standard and not the outlier is huffing glue
Sekiro is the best game fromsoft has ever made. best combat and story in any of their games.
no it has a shittier version of Batman Arkham and you are literally nigger tier animal if you can't see it
Samefag.
Imagine coping this hard.
>roll backwards
>nothing changes
>roll backwards again
>nothing changes
>roll backwards ten more times
>nothing changes
>hmm what should I do next? I know I'll roll backwards maybe something will change
A bug existing doesn't excuse shitty play.
Because Elden Shit Ring is the worst game yet by B Team, while Sekiro is made by S Team. You newfags are funny.
Fuck. I was planning to get ER and play it this Easter. This was one of the things I feared the most. The combat in Sekiro was much more complex and engaging than the previous games, IMO. Obviously in detriment of RPG elements of the previous games: different weapons, builds, etc. But I still think the trade was super positive since I consider Sekiro's combat one of the best systems I've ever seen. And FS games are 80% combat.
People that have played ER, what's your feeling about this?
Once you accept FromSoft is never going to make a game as good as Bloodborne again you stop worrying and enjoy their shit casually
yes it does
You can't read, opinion discarded
sekiro is small action game with polished combat and enemies, elden ring is bloated open world rpg with no balancing great game still.
Unfinished game that sucks
Are you the "open world games suck" troon?
And yet all Shit tier games lmao
ER is dogshit.
sekiro is better than 30FPSborne tho
His Halo video was good
Weird cope
I'll respect that opinion on the basis of preference. I do wish BB was more like Sekiro by cutting the RPG bullshit altogether.
However, both games are better than any souls title.
Weird how people here said Sekiro had bad combat when it first came out, calling it a "rhythm game". Just saiyan.
>style over substance: the game
So why do sekiro/BB enemies exist? Why do skills exist that give us those combat styles?
Don't worry just roll backwards in a straight line repeatedly to dodge any criticism that comes at you.
Certain people are trying to grasp anything and everything in their vendetta against Elden Ring.
Don't go in for the combat, go in for the experience. Nothing will top Sekiro.
What's so "perfect" about Sekiro's combat anyway? Every time someone says that they post a video of the player parrying some dude with a sword. I can do that in ER too.
If this isn't bait, pirate it and play it for yourself.
Probably because it focuses a lot more on poise there's a lot less chance to just back off and recuperate without fucking yourself in the ass.
Because Sekiro combat is tightly tuned for the Wolf and nothing more. You can't actually "break" it with any of the abilities you unlock, some might come close and that's it.
This comes at the cost of only one single main weapon, limited ninja tools, limited skills and very heavily gated stats and power increases for you.
Meanwhile Elden Ring has truckloads of weapons, armors, possible builds, spells, weapon arts, talismans, you can outlevel shit if you feel like it etc. It's a wider scope with much less focus, so obviously combat won't feel as good.
AIs that rely way too much on input reading
It's not so much of a bug as shitty design. The AI is set to do a certain attack when the player gets within a certain range window. Every time he rolls backwards his distance resets the trigger that then reactivates as the boss closes the distance.
In this example it results in a comical loop but it usually results in you either stun locking a boss or getting in an unwinnable situation and dying. Dragons have a habit of doing the "flame from directly above" without any cool down from a previous attack, leaving you no window to get out of the way and dooming you. Not to mention the "fly 200m away from you" loops that they, and the final boss can get into.
Retard, mikiri counter is a direct counter against thrust attacks. Holy fuck, you Soulsbabs are embarrassingly stupid. Keep mashing the dodge button in your shit game and leave Sekiro to actual video game enjoyers.
I expected as much, I remember there being a lot of Sekiro hate when it was released. Could be the same people for all I know.
The issue is that these games create 3d models with muh epic animations, then slap a hit box on top of them and the laziest possible code to make them use said animations. It's lazy as shit and requires no effort. The worst is that From Soft was actually so bad they managed to fuck up the "slap a hitbox on top of animations" part when it should be impossible to royally fuck that up.
>can't mikiri counter
How are you this dumb you can't execute a simple input that is the mikiri counter?
Bosses in ER unironically have better AI that punishes you for bad play instead of pretending to punish you like in Sekiro. Positioning also matters more in ER where you can't parry everything in your face.
Sekiro feels better to play if you like the its style, otherwise ER actually has better combat if you don't cheese it.
This, there is a LOT to account for in ER. I honestly feel like they did a pretty good job considering the sheer amount of options available.
DS2 was butchered mid development as opposed to other projects that Fromsoft worked on. DS2 still brought out interesting concepts and mechanics that improved the formula. It's only faulty of being entirely unfinished and unpolished. Which is a shame since there is a really good amount of groundwork for a masterpiece in DS2.
Don't try to min/max everything instead of trying to have fun, and you'll probably love it. The game gives you plenty of different tools to play the game exactly the way you want, you can roll, you can quickstep, you can jump, you can teleport, the only ones seething are the DS3 flags who were used to roll R1 everything.
>Sekiro combat is extremely braindead and shallow though. It's a literal r1 mashing game.
Fucking retard.
ER definitely plays like a game made 10 years ago compared to Sekiro. The timed block mechanic and posture could have been easily implemented to ER though by having different values for weapons and making some heavier weapons have slower recovery times on successful timed blocks while still giving them the ability to repeatedly block enemies that have spastic attack patterns. ER just didn't bother with any of that since Bamco wanted to capitalize on the success of Dark Souls. That is why you still roll like a retarded in ER.
I think with DS2 they noticed significantly through development that making it extremely dark and having the torch lighting being integral to gameplay just wasn't fun. I also suspect the enemy spam was a late on decision to ramp up the difficulty after the game was made easier by lighting things up (which explains why, even allowing for the durability bug, you could go through more than 2 weapons between bonfires)..
Elden rings combat is a superset of all the previous DS combats, it has all their features and then some
I don't know the levels where you had to use your torch to navigate your surroundings was my favorite bit.
>perfect combat
>dude, parry: the game
i can parry in Elden Ring
Actually, if you could do a "deflection" on perfect block when two-handing weapons, which would block 100% of all physical damage and force the enemy into a similar flinch as blocking with a greatshield does to open them for guard counter it'd be an INSANELY huge improvement over the jump attack spamfest two-handing is now.
It boggles my mind that people actually think this is a good game.
Don’t listen to the naysayers. No one except Yea Forumsirgin contrarians says ER is bad. Even the most nutpicky reviewers call it a flawed masterpiece
Honestly just a timed block mechanic and a dash rather than dodge roll would've gone miles for making ER's combat fresh, it really didn't need more. It just isn't an excuse.
True. I think they needed to implement the timed block on 2handing weapons and maybe shields too which would have helped you with breaking the posture of your enemies instead of jump attack spamming all the time. This would have also helped out with roll spam since it looks both stupid and annoying.
