The fuck was this dude's problem?
The fuck was this dude's problem?
he's a snob, simple as
incel
wagecuck
you, as in the protagonist
you destroyed his fucking establishment and caused a scene for days on end, but he's too much of a coward to outright call you out on it because your a police officer who could presumably make things hard for him.
plus he comes around later in the game after you get shot defending the place.
I mean, look at him, if you had a jawline like that you'd have a hairtrigger on your anger issues too
dead end wageslave job and having to put up with retarded alcoholic amnesiacs. yeah i'd be pissed off too.
You broke his bird you ass.
Revachol is a fourth world hellhole where law enforcement barely has any power to enforce the law
Hell I'd be an insufferable asshole to just about anyone if I hypothetically lived in a similar place
Half the characters would treat you very differently if you could just shoot them in the face Judge Dredd style
why shoot others in the face when you can shoot yourself in the face
The woman he has feelings for is riding a cock carousel that he isn't part of
So at the end of the game
Are you actually conversing with the phantasm or are you having a brief psychotic episode induced by it's neurotoxin and Harry's own mental problems?
Kim sees it too, and it's established that the setting has supernatural elements. It's very likely it was real.
Make me a drink
What was up with this game and sucking off the gay guy on the balcony so much? Every dialogue with him is basically ""Dude, you're so awesome." "Dude, I want to talk to you more." "How is he so cool?""
Not the phantasm itself, the dialogue between the it and Harry. Kim doesn't seem privy to that
Kim says you're just staring at it. It's just a big dumb bug that Harry projects a personal into.
harry doesnt remember what a homosexual is
I think a lot can be chalked up to just being in Harry's head, but I also have a hard time writing off Inland Empire as complete bullshit considering how much it seems to accurately foreshadow about certain events and characters.
i just started this game, what should I know?
Harry's smitten by one of the only people whose actively nice to him and openly shows interest in what he has to say. It's also a joke playing on the fact that post-Amnesia Harry can't put together that the guy is gay or even whether or not he himself is gay.
looks like that reddit tranny
Let the dice fall where they may
No bitches
It's a miracle, user.
Harrier has confirmed divine powers. Inland Empire is another aspect of that.
And whether it's the knowledge of the creatures of the world told through the Phasmid, or a revelation finally come to in Harry's brain, the truth is unchanged -- of all the creatures he ever met, it was the kindest, the most beautiful, the scariest.
don't savescum, most of the dialogue failures don't result in death or failed quest
He's a middle manager exercising the only power he has. Also you fucked with him pre-game, so he'll remember you for the rest of his life as "that drunk dickhead who broke my bird."
If you're anything but a communist the game punishes you.
I have a gut feeling that most of the crazy shit that is presumed to be a result of Harrys insanity is actually completley real and Harry is just tuned to the deeper layers of reality. While I'm a pleb when it comes to the deep lore, I have a gut feeling it has something to do with the Pale.
That "True love is possible" thing pissed me off so much, i'm not even sure why. I wish the game let me shit on it more than it did.
Harry is technically a magpie,a magpie uses the pale inadvertently to see the future through time-shenanigans, the reason why you can savescum in the game is due to the fact that harry can kinda see the future.
>call people of your partner's race yellow monkies
>partner gets upset
WOOOOOOOWW
Also, Ultraliberal hustler gets rewarded the most due to such checks actually netting you money.
Only Icebreaker gets really pissed on
But I got him another one
How come you yoink it from that woman's house and neither the kid or kim stop you
Wage slavery, and you
I asked permission thank you
Harry is literally an innocence. All his voices are 100% real.
Fuck off with this game theory tier garbage.
how long is the first playthrough usually?
Harry has a crush on him but has no concept of what homosexuality is.
i never even found the mom
Nigger it’s canon.
What's actually Harrier's most extraordinary/supernatural feat? Espirit de Corps establishes extrasensory perception at a minimum, not just feelings like Shivers but full conversation knowledge
Do you have to be a commie/centrist faggot to enjoy this game?
>not just feelings like Shivers
Did you miss the Shivers conversation where The city of Revachol speaks to Harry directly through Shivers, switching the voice of Shivers from male to female?
20 something hours.
> Espirit de Corps establishes extrasensory perception at a minimum
Is Harry aware of Espirt de Corps though? He can converse with Shivers future shit but I’m pretty sure all the Espirt de corps “6th sense scenes” only exist in narration.
I didn't mind it and the game called me a racist fascist. It's nothing extraordinary though and ultimately kinda shallow and unsatisfying.
He is depressed with unsuccessful love life and boring job, he is also too cowardly to outright confront a failure cop that wrecked his place. He is basically spineless.
Playing blind is the best possible experience. Just go with the flow.
>erase the expression in the mirror
>dialogues still play out as if I had it
shit game no reactivity 0/10
The only ideology that gets actually attacked is neoliberalism/centrism/apoliticalism. Fascism/conservatism is treated as a meme with a little bit of sympathy. Ancaps are treated completely like a meme.
Commies get treated like evil retards but with the cadveat that if they weren’t evil retards they’d be right.
Neoliberals get treated like literal Erdrich monsters.
I only recently did a playthrough. Cleaned Harry up, went hard on Int with conceptualization. Really looking foward to playing through it again maybe a year from now, will likely go emotional and pick some more outlandish options.
Communism constantly gets dunked on as a philosophy for educated armchair activists and rebellious teens, and if Harry buys into it he just tells everyone they need to 'start up the meat grinder again' and kill a ton of people.
A huge theme of Disco Elysium is that seeking identity in ideals is comical and absurd. If Harry adopts Mazovianism (Marxism) in particular he literally gets two stat debuffs that basically say "you're a loser".
At the end of the game when you confront the culprit there's a small series of events that really drives home how placing ideology before your humanity will destroy you.
While the game is framed around a murder investigation, the real goal is to piece back together Harry's destroyed mind, and throughout the game you will see what is real progress for a broken man, and what is slush to mask the problems at his foundations.
He was gay
nah, it mocks every major political worldview by showing it through a lense of a couch philosopher
Sounds basic as fuck, maybe the themes would have resonated with me a few years ago but I'm beyond that point now.
The game is anything but basic. Just go enjoy one of the best rpgs ever made, a real "roleplaying" game, don't get too uptight about anything, talking to everyone of every view is fun and a good time.
Maybe, but given how many people go into the game priming themselves to hate it like /pol/ does because it mentions muh gommunism, it's evidently an idea that a lot of gamers need to hear.
>I'm beyond that point now
I promise you're not.
I wish kim was my dad
Kim? Yes. Now we're not going to talk about it anymore, in fact, i've forgotten that kim is gay entirely! Kim being gay is something that rarely crosses my mind when thinking about this game, and that's just another part of life, it surprised me that there were gay characters in this game, but only because i was surprised homosexuality would even be brought up, not the fact that there are gay people in this world (which is totally fine) .
I actually agree with the idea that ideals shouldn't define your identity, and it's a good theme to have even if the game is portrayed by others as being liberal/centrist/ect propaganda, but I'm just not the same person I was a few years ago, I came to that realization already.
