It was the 3D follow up to the best platforming trilogy ever on a console that already had two incredible 3D entries in previously 2D game franchises by the same developer who already made a great 3D platformer also on the same platform. The hype was pretty massive.

Yeah, there's no real reason for it. Must just be rooted in my own bias. Strangely enough I owned all three DKC games on SNES and had a 64 but for I never owned or even rented DK64. I guess my Dreamcast had become my main focus by that time and then two years later I had a PS2 so I guess it just sort of fell through the cracks.
