More cheap mass produced "content"

I mean every indie game is already trying to be dark souls.

More Elden KINO and seethe from

from will keep making soulslike games
the rest of the industry will continue churning out fucking garbage for paypigs and the mixed race masses

Nice. They deserve it, Elden Ring is very good. I guess this means FromSoft will continue to make Soulslike games, probably with more collaboration with outside authors given results like these. Probably going to see some good DLC for ER too. Lots of more Dark Souls clones also

You know how Ubisoft's success with formulamatic games inspired Breath of the Wild, which has made every dev want to make their own open world version of their IP?
It's gonna get worse.

Hopefully dragons dogma 2

Hopefully it either stops the open world trend with how it raised the bar of effort expected per open world game or by people buying less open world games after it

Souls servers will stay dead

I'm more concerned what it will do to the industry. Prepare to get saturated by even more shitty knock offs that will completely miss the point and adapt the worst aspects.

if you were tired of the shitty open worlds prepare your ass

waifus sells games

They're already working on one of the biggest franchises right now with Henry Cavill

This is the GREATEST fucking news of all time.

>Big name actor attached
That always dooms a game.

All hail the Omnissiah

Nothing because it wouldn't work for other companies. They either don't understand, or don't have the name brand and honestly fan fervor From has at their back constantly.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MECHANICUS BROS WE'RE EATING GOOD TONIGHT

I for one, cannot wait for the mass marketed Elden Beast and Torrent plushies

nothing, we're already in the era of open world games and western devs are seething at successful Japanese games

Maybe now they can afford to hire some competent programmers and create a new engine that doesn’t look like PS3 graphics.

>raised the bar of expected effort
>every enemy type copy pasted in nonsensical locations
>entire map covered in smithing stone [x], golden rune [x], and crafting garbage
>number of quests can be counted on your fingers, each one of lower quality than a skyrim sidequest, none of them can be completed without a wiki page open
>no in-game books or documents, just single-paragraph item descriptions for lorefags to overanalyze, average player finishes the game not knowing what a tarnished is
>awful ambient soundtrack
>raised the bar of expected effort

games will start losing all those waymarkers and map doodads hopefully. Seems like devs were obsessed about making sure players knew where everything was, Elden ring proved them entirely wrong.

For From it means probaly another open world game with 2 steps foward 1 step back. Par for the course.
For gaming overall nothing. ER is a good game buts not innovative. It doesn't break the mold in a way that inspires. It copies well and makes interesting changes but its not the trend setter.

You guys aren't actually falling for that april fools joke right?

So?
I never said it was good, just that more effort was put into it compared to other open world games
BotW has less than 10 unique enemies

oh.... didnt look at the date article was posted.
sad days ahead

Why does Elden Ring cause so much seething in the West?? What is the real reason that causes such dread that faggots from EA, Ubisoft, Activision, and those troons who made Horizon Zeo Dawn started fuming in the mouth in a concerted effort?

more seething from the devs behind modern AAA "cinematic experiences", I should hope.

There’s no way GW would put down the money for a AAA game, but the article had me until the ship name.

i think these games are still considered niche, but the weird niche game just took a fat dookie shit on everyone.

In that case They should add an ingame device kind of like the PDA in STALKER that the character can use to load up the wiki page because you have to check that shit nonstop in ER

It means we're never getting another Armored Core.

you really don't, min maxxers would use a wiki regardless of the game. Don't know why you would bring that up. Enjoying Elden Ring or progressing doesn't require a guide.

I love this image and how they clarified it sold over 1 million in Japan since it caused so much seething in the Famitsu threads. If they didn't clarify this most dumbasses in there would think it only sold the 400k. But turns out it sold way more than that. And it definitely sold way more by now

Nothing because that is still baby numbers compared to other games. Business will go on as usual.

Barring interference from outsiders, I'm not optimistic that western devs are capable of changing course. Across the entire western entertainment industry, there are too many powerful people who've made too many bad decisions for too long. If the player being made to think for five seconds stops being treated as a "design flaw", it'll make those """very smart people""" who are all about their $12/hr focus groups and mindless consumption of select numbers look very stupid.

Westerners have a massive inferiority complex and get butthurt when others are doing better than them.

assassin creed and zelda will be now souls

>raised the bar
What the fuck are you on about, it did nothing revolutionary with the open world. In fact the open world was pretty derivative and in a lot of ways worse then the norm.

Why are the Japanese sale separated? Shouldn't it be 13 million worldwide?

Making a sequel. Indies keep pushing the "like dark souls but 2D" and some western publishers trying a AAA full propaganda version.

Because japs don't buy games anymore except tendie games it seems, that is why they are to try to brag.

If you think the industry is going to learn anything from this, you're new.

Are you really incapable of noticing the pattern of the ones crying about elden ring success?

A lot of really really really stupid attempts at emulating them which won't work.

A handful of indie games that emulate a single aspect of them but which do work (we already have some of those but there will be a few more)

And they'll keep making open world games as their main thing while doing smaller one-shot story games like Sekiro.

12m is not a success that AAAA industry cares about

Elden Ring selling 15 million copies in a few weeks is a fear of trendsetting, reverting games/gaming back to the age of e-peen skill, "show how far you can go", and dudebro culture. Aberrant to the plans that AAA drivel-making western developers have in mind creating cinematic experiences and making gaming accessible to everyone to amass a collection of consumers. Elden Ring is also a grim-looking game with dark motifs, and it scares the trannies and sensitive s0is of the ideological left, something they do not want to make a habit of appearing.

Yet those enemies have vastly superior ai that can do dozens of unique actions except for reading inputs.

Because it's good and not for woke reasons. Surprisingly no one has praised it for it's huge range of female characters and for their important and powerful roles.
