So are they aliens?

So are they aliens?

No they're just literal bugmen formed from some sort of curse who gives a fuck
I remember when I first stepped foot into the teleport trapped and wound up underground, I thought I had stumbled across a Bloodborne twist early

>cave full of crystallized humanoids being forced to excavate magic gemstones by creepy insectoid aliens
I thought ayy lmaos were using humanity as slave labor to harvest a power source of something. It didnt help that the "ruin fragment" item hinted that all those giant walls you find in Limgrave actually fell from a fucking flying palace in the sky

I thought it was going to be aliens. And in a way the tree is kind of an alien. But there wasn't a cool cosmic twist so FUCK Im mad

Attached: ChrisPresence.jpg (1280x900, 598.19K)

>I thought it was going to be aliens.
it is aliens you dumb fuck. literally everything can be traced to aliens

It's not aliens. Nothing about Elden Ring has any of Bloodborne's alien or cosmic deal going on. The outer gods reside above the planet in the cosmos but that doesn't make them aliens. With that logic, practically every god in any religion is an alien because they're chilling in some realm above earth.

Attached: 1649563646250.jpg (486x582, 38K)

Uh... it is aliens? What do you think the outer gods are? The rot is terraforming caelid to a biome that is more hospital to creatures of the rot's dimension, which is what those centipede bugmen are.

The only aliens are the meteor people that Ranni is associated with. Everything else, including the Erd Tree is terrestrial in origin

The greater will sent the elden beast as an emissary to make contact and assert influence over the lands between. They're fucking aliens. They're just not spaceship aliens but cosmic entities that pollute defile and pervert lesser lifeforms.

Astel claws typed this post

Attached: he's smiling!.jpg (1600x900, 111.42K)

They're not space aliens, mythlets. The stars themselves are living entities like in classical mythology.

>The outer gods reside above the planet in the cosmos but that doesn't make them aliens.
>These beings are foreign to our world, originate from elsewhere in the cosmos, and have bodies and physiologies and minds completely foreign to ours, but they're not aliens
do you fucking hear yourself right now

If we go the alien route then okay, I can take it, but they're not Lovecraft Bloodborne aliens. They're not unknowable eldritch goons. They're directly intervening in events and trying to establish themselves. Astel is the only one that looks overtly alien-ish and even then he looks more like some foul demon

Bloodborne aliens are actually less like aliens than the star beasts in Elden Ring. The things in Bloodborne come from the cosmos, but the cosmos is not what you assume when you hear that word.
>"The cosmos is right above our heads."
Just realizing that allowed Byrgenwerth to make contact. Because they're not from space, they're from places of mystery. That's why Kos comes from the deep ocean, because it's a place of mystery.

Astel is also a stupid fucking boss that they reused in two areas. His "lore" is a joke.

The Old One, Great Ones, and the Greater Will are all related.

What the fuck is the rot anyway

fallen star beast

They both have that weird blue/green eyeball that looks like it burst out of their heads.

Attached: insight.jpg (2816x3524, 1.32M)

Do the poison cult guys worship them or turn into them or something? There was an area with both bugmen and poison guys and then some baby bugmen in an underground tomb

>kill a fucking star
Fromsoft enemies are so much weaker in actual gameplay than they are in lore. Yelough Astel managed to level an entire city with his meteor ability, but then when he uses it on you its some paltry bullshit that would hardly level a house or two

It's the form of another god. The rot god was sealed away under Liurnia, where the Lake of Rot is, by a blind swordsman wielding a blade that flows like water.

But the Fallingstar Beast (an alien) is literally in that cave.

>Fromsoft enemies are so much weaker in actual gameplay than they are in lore.
That's just how it is. The Tarnished can slay demigods and gods but gets destroyed by a pack of wild dogs, or a big crab, or eagles.

>the rot is the colour out of space

So why is it spreading in caelid

What the fuck are the Demi-humans? ancient hominids that never evolved or what?

Malenia and her Cleanrot Knights spread it there during their battle with Radahn I think

Because Malenia became its host somehow, possibly something to do with the swordsman because he was also her mentor. She let the rot bloom so she could beat Radahn because she's so petty she was willing to undo the life work of herself and Miquella.

Malenia let it loose trying to kill radahn. She failed but infected the ecosystem in the process. Only radahn's sheer force of will is containing the rot to caelid.

Attached: image003.jpg (3840x2160, 2.59M)

>Malenia
What a cunt

Are you retarded or do you realize you're saying the same thing?

They're very different things. In classical mythology and in Elden Ring the stars are more an extension of the world and its laws, not foreign worlds.

Lovecraft wrote more than The Call of Cthulhu and Shadow Over Innsmouth, retard. Demon's Souls is lovecraftian fiction as well. Where do you think the term "Outer God" comes from? Much like both Great Ones and the Old One are derived from Great Old Ones. Imagine discussing "Outer Gods who came from the cosmos and have influence over human affairs" and also trying to say "but they're totally not lovecraftian entities".

A race that existed before the Greater Will arrived, they're likely late primordials that never got a chance to be its own creature fully, given the sheer variety in features and size they have.

All of these post make me think that Malenia used her own body to seal away the rot, most likely in some sort of plan with her sword master. Then she got her shit pushed in by Radahn and panic bloomed because she didn’t want to lose.

If this is true then Malenia is a petty little bitch and one of the worst character’s in the setting(morally).

She was born this way, due to being even more inbred than you can theoretically imagine, with both her parents literally being same person. Radagon/Marika have truly reached apotheosis of aristocracy as concept.
>GRRM moment

What the fuck are "empyreans"
I assume they're like elves but without the ears

>The rot god was sealed away under Liurnia, where the Lake of Rot is, by a blind swordsman wielding a blade that flows like water.

he should be elden lord, not me

Attached: 1640376518781.jpg (763x437, 36.73K)

Someone with the potential to become a god/host to a god.

She's already one of the worst moral characters in the story just for bringing the rot period, regardless of reasons. Hosts of the goddess of rot should be killed on site the way the caravan was for worshiping the flame frenzy.

he probably died later like a dumbass
for some reason no one but you knows that preserving boluses are a thing

Once I heard of the blind swordsman, I thought oh hes definitely gonna be a dlc boss. I then recoiled because hes malenia but stronger

The warrior starting set is his gear so maybe the intent is that you can play as him returning.

Wouldn’t make sense. Your character is a tarnished so they are either a descendant of the Golden company(or an original member). Exiled with Godfrey. Rahdagon didn’t “return” to Marika until Godfrey was forced out. So there is not way for your character to have been in the lands between after Malenia was born.

What's irritating is that she gets wanked a lot in various mentions through the game world, as if she dindu nuffing. Everyone shits on Rykard everywhere, but everything he did is a joke compared to smearing eldritch hyper-cancer hostile to all life all over significant part of the world for no reason except to prevent damage to one's ego. This shit should earn perpetrator title of most hated person on the continent.
This alone proves without any doubt that malenia is a pet of one of major devs. Typical situation with OC donut steel mary sue who can do no wrong.

True but there is something truly awful about undoing your master’s life’s work because you were butthurt about getting wrecked by your half brother. Although I’m also assuming her master died sealing the rot away so she also spit on his sacrifice(but know I’m just making up head canon).

>This alone proves without any doubt that malenia is a pet of one of major devs

That wasn't obvious when they took an optional boss from an optional area, locked behind 2 hidden medallions and a town full of the most cancerous enemies since DS2, and decided to use her for literally all the promo material?

She spat in Miquella's face in the process too. Miquella was trying to use himself to get rid of the rot since his body has the properties of unalloyed gold.

*waves*

>using aero
You will feel ashamed of your words and deeds.

>Play Arts
gross

If anything situation with state of haligtree can't prove that, it was supposed to be better. However there are
>Super special mechanics no other boss has
>Bullshit input reading in your face no other boss has (foreskin fags shooting you is a joke next to enemy who times dodges to your melee attack input)
>Fuck you sure-kill aoe requiring particular non-intuitive method to avoid (that was added while polishing, here's what's claimed to be beta version of game)
>Doesn't die when you kill her
This shit screams "fuck you player mah waifu can beat you up and you can't even get her", her being beatable at all must have been concession made only for the sake of product's integrity.
Generally you expect such hackery from tumblr teenage fan fiction, not from a big release by reputable studio, yet here it is.
Maybe it's not even Miyazaki since there is consensus that Ranni is his waifu, could it be T*nimura? Could there have been a confrontation over whose waifu gets more content resulting in Malenia ending up with almost none and lots of her stuff being cut?

Attached: 1620155116893.webm (1280x720, 2.96M)

im disappointed the sci fi theory that went around pre release was false. ER is literally just dark souls mashed with BB

I've seen a lot of people say that Elden Lord is a meaningless title and you can't actually do anything as it and that Marika is still in control in the Non chaos and Ranni endings. What item descriptions is this pulling from? Also Why don't we see Marika in the endings if she's still alive?

>those space creatures from outer space aren't aliens because they're not literal stars as we know them in real life
Stars aren't aliens either. Aliens are creatures that come from outside or off the planet, and aren't native. Hence the term "alien".
And the greater will itself is an alien and described as an "outer" god and its influence isn't native to the world.
It's fucking aliens.

If Marika doesn't like what you do or rather how you do what she wants, she will revoke your grace, you will be demoted to undesirable like Godfrey, and she gets other fuckboy cause it's not like there are shortage of those.
However it's not like that in Goldmask's ending, since Marika herself gets her agency revoked.

The Pests aren't technically aliens since their species was born in the Land Between but they were born from the scarlet rot which is alien in origin, the rot God that gives Malenia her powers is an alien. So they are aliens in the same sense as the kin of the Cosmos from Bloodborne are aliens despite being born in Yharnam

It is aliens. But I know what you mean.
The aliens and outer gods and shit were more behind the scenes and lore background, instead of a big transformation like BB had.

Why didn't she revoke my grace as I was prancing around helping Ranni? Also that didn't answer either of my questions.

Are the giant underground skeletons in Caelid also ayyliums growing from the rot?

are you fucking RETARDED?

NWORDMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

Huh, is it just me or does Malenia not cover nearly as much ground as quickly in that webm?

I think that was the prototype version of the move

Yeah thats the beta version of the fight.

So what's the deal with the Numen emerging from the crashed purple asteroid fields, the Fallingstar Beasts, and the Astel lads?

Attached: images.jpg (283x178, 5.11K)

they are grafted by godrick

I don't remember any giant skeletons underground in Caelid. If you mean the giant skulls on the surface I'm pretty sure those are just Nausicaa references, or left overs from the war with the giants.

Attached: banimepaper-net-dpicture-standard-anime-nausicaa-valley-of-the-wind-nausicaa-khairkhan-preview-cbd-939137564.jpg (891x1000, 149.27K)

I'M GOING INSAAAANNNNEEEEE

The giant skulls and skeletons are sticking out of the ground, fucking huge, bigger than any giants we see, and don't all look that human

>but they're not Lovecraft Bloodborne aliens. They're not unknowable eldritch goons
there is literally nothing wrong with this

Also, not only are they HUGE huge, they look about the size of those flaming stone heads they found in the network test

Cute hops. WFD should have been like this but slower and with malenia repositioning herself with more agility around the player.

I think the onyx/alabaster lords and the numen are different things, Astel and the Fallingstar Beasts are definitely aliens from space that crashed on the planet though.

DESU they're more like the gods in ASoIaF. They're not necessarily eldritch horrors they're just greater beings who can only interact directly with reality in very limited ways without using an intermediary.
