There are fujos who like cute anime looking guys and enjoy stuff like Genshin Impact, and Nintendo stuff like Link.
Then there are girls who like bishounen guys and teen fic teir stuff like Final Fantasy, Hatoful Boyfriend and Castlevania, adult men but clean, polished and youthful, maybe gentlemanly.
And then there are girls who like the more grounded stuff and like Metal Gear and Overwatch for the beefy men.
I'm sure there are more variants but essentially it goes down to games consisting of multiple male characters, possibly a game with socialization. Then what style the game looks like since an anime guy can try to be a mature character but it will fail to appeal to a girl who likes, say, buff tattooed hairy samurai man than a twig anime boy with blue hair. Without the visual appeal and the number of males they wont be interested in drawing, writing and shipping their versions of what they see in the characters accurate to the context of the game or not.

They're not, many guys who browse Yea Forums find love in Tumblr, happened back during the raid wars and happens now especially since the porn ban got rid of all the extreme userbase. Also if I recall correctly most of the userbase on Tumblr should average out to 4chans userbase of being around mid 20's too.
Guys find comfort their own way and girls their own, it's a lot more peaceful that way unless they both find someone else that share common interests and tolerate the bad stuff that both sides have. In the end both are just as lonely and kinda hopeless despite shared interests they just cope a bit different.
