Is this port really that bad? Chrono Cross is one of my favorite games of all time and I was really hyped about this release. Hope the flaws are just being blown out of proportion.

There's literally no reason to give SE money for this garbage when the original can be emulated.

Aside from the FPS issues, it's easily the best version of the game to date.

>Higher quality music and new arrangements only play in the launcher
>bundled with radical dreamers
>speed up and slow down function for faster battles and to make minigames less infuriating
Now the FPS issues are admittedly pretty bad, and almost ruin it for me. It's your decision if you want to compromise framerate for all these quality of life features and improvements. I settled with this version, but I can see why some wouldn't. Battles with 4 or 5 enemies get really fucking choppy and it kind of hurts my eyes so hopefully that gets patched or modded because that to me is the one significant flaw with this version of Cross.

If you run the game with Vulkan it helps with the frame rate performance. It's not perfect, but is noticeably better, at least for me.

I own the game for PS1 and have been playing it on steam with the updated models/textures. I haven't been having the framerate issues others are claiming, and I've spent nearly 20 hours with the game so far. Currently in the Lynx arc, farming out trappable elements using the Cuscus trick.

I feel like the people complaining about framerate either didn't play or don't remember the original. It's not a fast game. It's an old, PS1-era JRPG, and that's filtering the zoomers. I will also say that the menus are definitely faster and smoother than the original game.

(I have also heard reports of people having framerate issues on steam/playstation not having the same issues on switch.)

As far as the censorship for the models that everyone is complaining about, it's a non issue. It's not censorship, because the game still gives you the option to play with the original models/textures which still gives you degenerates your three polygon upskirt shots. The people crying that Marcy, who is canonically 9 years old btw, has bloomers instead of smaller panties on the new model are literally outing themselves as pedophiles.

Some of the text has been altered to remove things that might have been deemed offensive, but I honestly can't remember any specifics off the top of my head, so it wasn't anything plot-changing or anything like that.

At its worst, Radical Dreamers Edition is a solid port of Chrono Cross across multiple platforms(which is a good thing because it always emulated like trash), with extra features and options as well as an official Radical Dreamers translation for $20. I'm having a good time with it, but it's filtering zoomers and making pedophiles seethe.

I used to play Chrono Cross while I lied in bed with my ex-girlfriend in her little apartment at college. It's hard to play now even though years have gone by. I've found another woman and I love her, even dated her longer at this point, but it's not the same. I'll never know the passion that I felt with my first love again, and I guess I'm alright with that. Smile that it happened as they say. Anyone tried Radical Dreamers on PC? I already started and music/sound is burping like crazy. Jesus Christ how could they release it at such state?

My issue is that even if it ran fine, it's clear some aspects were done less well than others. Sure, backgrounds were meant to look like oil paintings but it's pretty obvious they lack the masters still because they tried to AI upscale it and it looks like fucking shit now which hurts the more abstract locations a lot.

Sure it's swell to get Radical Dreamers officially but this game is in a bizzare place where some spots had more effort than others and so the final product is a bit lopsided in the parts that most people will really be paying attention to.

it runs a little better but still worse than original. Also pixelated graphics look really bad on the modern big screen. I prefer the new version to be honest.

I haven't really had issue with the backgrounds. They look fine to me. Though there is still the option of playing with the classic graphics if they irk you for whatever reason.

Unsure if it actually has anything to do with how I've been experiencing the game, btw, but I've been playing borderless windowed with screen type set to full.

I thought they will also censor that, but surprisingly they didn't.

They didn't remove it, though. It still gives you the option of playing with the original models and textures. Pedos are literally just trying to perv on higher rez models of little girls. The fact that there are people whose first thought on playing the remaster was to go look under a 9 year old girl's skirt is pretty weird and gross, ngl.

Barely, and being nearly 20 hours into the game, I cannot actually remember any of the instances of dialogue being changed off the top of my head. That's how insignificant it was.

It also seems like the dialogue changes are always brought up as an afterthought when someone calls out the fact that people are more concerned with looking under a little girl's skirt than playing the game.
