Is this worth if you liked FFT? I like FFTA and Fell Seal. does Triangle carry the torch of those game or does it have some bullshit that ruins it?

tactics RPG thread

It doesn't have a job system like FFT or Fell Seal so if that's what you liked about them you won't like it
It does have much better maps and is more challenging than either of them though because your units are unique and you can't make yourself retardedly OP though

Game seems pretty fine tuned, and the difficulty for me was oddly linear. Then again I hated FFTA because it was piss easy, the customization from the previous game wasnt there, and the story while mildly interesting wasn't great

No, it's nothing like FFT. Closest comparison is Utawarerumono in that it's a visual novel with TRPG elements.

>customization from the previous game wasnt there
that seems like a deal breaker in a way. that's the best part IMO

For me you either need to have something a bit more tightly knit, like how triangle strategy is, or go full on similar to how FFT is. With how Tactics Advanced is set up, you get the disadvantage of both systems without the advantages they have to offer

No customisation but more variety. Switch units at your discretion for what you need on the map. Each serves a specific purpose many can completely alter your approach to strategy.

It would be funny to play a map with 10 artisans though.

What was her problem?

Lost all interest from what you described. Any other games with interesting job systems that I can play?

thought that one guy had yellow nipples in the thumbnail

It's fun enough but shouldn't be full priced
There is fucking no enemy variety or choice in army build the only thing that's decent is the story branches

each unit is specialized, and maps play out closer to a puzzle than as a "how busted can i make a single unit" simulator

it's a good thing, but it's not for everyone

It's more reminiscent of Tactics Ogre, isn't it?

As far as tactic games go, I'm actually enjoying it more than FF: Tactics. So I'd highly recommend it.

I thought that game had a job system like FFT?

Just playing through it now, and barring a few gripes I find it as good or better than tactics.
>Game has scaling EXP so you get nothing for killing lower level units and tons for killing higher level units, prevents grinding and rewards challenging yourself
>Maps are well designed
>AI is actually smart and will use all mechanics at their disposal to win
>Difficulty is great, game is not a cake walk after minimal grinding like FFTA or FFT
>Story is branching with very different outcomes based on how you play, lends itself well to being replayed
And the bad parts
>No class customization at all. Classes are all unique so each of the 30 characters plays nothing like the rest, but it still feels bad
>Cannot recruit all units on one play through, it takes a minimum of 5 runs to get them all due to unique story choices
>music is pretty meh
>Bad VA work in literally every language

Game is overall an 8/10 for me in terms of quality and gameplay, which is about where I would have scored tactics as well. This game has better mechanics and difficulty curve but lacks some of tactics freedom.

It's only 4 runs to get everyone, since there are 4 endings it's pretty much built for that.

she was jewish

Man the start is soooo fucking boring I'm close to dropping it. Please convince me to keep playing it.

Crystal Project is a recent indie that's kinda like Octopath/Bravely Default in that regard (so classic JRPG not SRPG), fun combat and exploration

>Bad VA work in literally every language

I'm more impressed you can understand every language to judge.

it picks up a lot once you get into the actual war

Ch 4 is when shit starts happening

the first 3-4 chapters are legitimately awfully paced with about an 70-30 ratio of plot to combat, but it gets closer to 50-50 or 40-60 midgame as battles become longer affairs that you might have to retry once or twice to get the hang of

From what i played, the game play is really dumbed down and not just jobs

>Cordelia is 13 years old

Like others have said, the first two hours are a legitimate slog. Its much more evenly paced after that, save for how weirdly clumped up getting new units is.

What are the best routes? I finished benedict and want to do the others but i have other games to play at the moment.

Roland's is really good but makes you feel like shit

I enjoyed Freddy's too even though it's retarded

Golden is best done after doing all the others

Prime age for making some heirs.

>Invades his neighbors
>rapes their underage princesses
>gets completely away with it on certain endings

based?

it's more similar to Tactics Ogre than FFT or FE as far as comparisons with big name Tactics RPG names go.

I've been playing the demo, it's fun but I definitely prefer a tactics battle system then classic jrpg battle system.

There's a demo.

was a good game, i finished it. which is rare

Once Hyzante makes claims to the Rosellan village she ends up getting shook

>Minimum of 5
4, one for each ending

It's definitely a worthy successor to Tactics. Doesn't surpass it, but it stands up to scrutiny.
Also, if you're so emotionally stunted that you think the voice acting is bad then you're an ignorant NPC
it adds to the style and presentation of the game for the voice actors to be more subdued
but Yea Forums is full of coomers, faggots, troons, and subhumans so I don't expect any of you to get it

Mercenaries Saga Chronicles

Has more variety in strategies you can employ unlike the illusion of having variety like fft at the very least. Better story, better maps and better gameplay. Mostly unremarkable music, art direction is shit. All things considered, one of the best srpgs for me

the English VA is actually fucking terrible, though. Not Arc Rise Fantasia tier but pretty damn close

The charges officer?

The only ones I thought were really bad were Rudolph, Geela and Sycras, everyone else is fine and some like Svarog are really good

Serenoa's spic accent does not fit though

>No Benedict wearing the burger king crown yet

>dave fennoy as lionel
so that's why i like him so much

Are there any games more in the vein of ogre battle? Building groups was fun but it would be nice to not have to micromanage morality.

>Hughette is also Bernie and Seong Mina
Never would have guessed

Countless war crimes.

I want to plow Erika while Freddy is forced to watch, and tied up.

Why they cant talk with their character portrait on? I don't even know who they are at times.

because then you'd miss the nuance of the pixel animations, or they'd have to spend man-hours figuring out how to frame the pixel animations with the portraits in-frame

it's not like they ever change

Attached: 1646972448292.webm (500x500, 170.61K)

It would have been nice to have the portraits but you can bring up their profile when they're speaking. Also it's fun to see them change with the story

Freedom mountain, religion lake, or mediation river? Who’s the most based?

Hyzante may be a totalitarian slave state but they aren't cucks

>forced to stop and pray at intervals because goddess says so
emh...

>doing no burning on hard mode
>this is impossible
>get hughette on the roof and pelt avlora with 1000 arrows

Attached: cec[1].png (600x788, 483.27K)

>Serenoa's spic accent does not fit though
He sounds like a bored raspy faggot. The others sound more or less fine, but when the main character just doesn't give a shit it's grating.

Otherwise the story is the only selling point.
Gameplay is just beyond grating. The only game I found myself lowering the difficulty, because every fight turns into a slog of you baiting and turtling enemies.
Lack of any real customization also hurts.
Even games that didn't have classes usually come up with some variety system to customize your units.

No. FFT has the best job system in any game ever

>Even games that didn't have classes usually come up with some variety system to customize your units
I feel like the ng+ aspect of it limited the design space : they couldn't really pull a fire emblem or have permanent talent trees when they try to make you play the game 4 times

I heard the game has really high HP values. How actually tactical is this?

You isolate an character and whack it from all 4 direction + range. This is the only viable way on harder difficulty.
If you don't do it, the enemies will.

>too even though it's retarded
Least satisfying ending. Hated how much of a non resolution the epilogue ends up being.
The epilogue should have featured Frederica and Serenoa's child together when Benedict suddenly arrives and it's strongly hinted that he wants to groom the child to be the next Serenoa because he's still obssesed with making Serenoa Norzelia's ruler
