have you played even kings field ?
Des, Das1, Bb and Sekiro are the essential souls.
Play it and find out
If you've honestly played BB, Sekiro, ER, and 1-3 then not really. It's a great game but you should probably spend time playing another genre of game or something. You're not super missing out on it. the main difference from all the games is the gimmick bosses which you most likely won't like
I've beaten Das1, BB, Das3, and ER.
I've never played DeS or Sekiro
Should I just play Sekiro? It seems to be more praised but I'm not sure if it interests me as much
Yes, but I recommend the remake over the original.
>inb4 (You)'s
(I would play the remake but I purposely chose the original as my OP to not start a shitstorm)
It's by far the weakest and most shallow Souls game with very unimpressive bosses compared to the others.
Endgame bosses in DeS are comparable to Limgrave bosses in terms of move set complexity.
Yes, Sekiro is a solid game and worth a run or 2 but it doesn't have replayability of a proper souls.
>Should I just play Sekiro?
It's From's best game so yes.
Ok ill just play Sekiro
yes, but only on RPCS3 at higher res and locked 30 fps game logic tied to fps. don't @ me
>game logic tied to fps
Only gravity, in 60FPS you just fall faster.
But DeS has no jumping so that hardly matters.
Attacks, movement for both the player and bosses are the same in 30 and 60.
It's more of the same pretty much, bosses are generally easier though. if you want that play it
not OP but obviously no
Fuck off namefag
It's interesting to play or replay it after DS1/2/3, BB and ER as a museum piece to see how far FROMsoft games have evolved, but if you're expecting it to be in par with the others in anything but atmosphere you'll get disappointed.
I played DeS after every other Souls right before ER's release and it was amazing. It changed the way I look at the series as a whole. I'd recommend playing it just for the sake of learning how the series started.
Sekiro is great but different from Souls. If you're willing to play by its new rules it's worth a shot.
Yes Demon's Souls is worth it
DS1 is arguably peak, but it's worth seeing how much DeS pioneered the whole series and still perfectly holds up
It's easy to emulate and I would advise doing that
answer the question, secondary
>Yes, but I recommend the remake over the original.
why?
Sekiro is honestly my favorite game from them so yes
this but scrap dks because it’s trash
>blacks are either prisoned or do nothing
great message bluepoint
can you no longer download DeS from the Sony homepage?
Yes definitly its problably my favorite out of all of them
what were they THINKING
Yes. It still has some of the best moments in the series
Yes, it's a solid game with its greatest strength being its level design which you won't see in later games and there's no fall off like you see in the later games either. People exaggerate its flaws and if there's anything that's bad Dark Souls did it too but worse. If you fear the game will be easy don't avoid sending the world tendency to darker levels by suiciding in the nexus, the darker it becomes more dangerous enemies will appear and every enemy will get stronger.
Make sure to connect to the the private server (works on both RPCS3 and a real PS3) before playing
DeS level design isn't even close to being on par with DS1, the DS2 DLCs or DS3.
Only Latria and Stonefang have some decent complexity, require proper shortcuts and have lots of verticality like future levels.
Yes it's better than every souls game but bloodborne. The entire dark souls trilogy is shit
Of course, it's an excellent dungeon crawler/adventure.
It's a fun game with clever, well-designed levels (and a myriad of ways to break them)
Some of the systems and decisions are pretty bad/poorly thought out, but it's still worth playing, especially if you already know you like these kinds of games.
>kingsfield hallway is bad because.... well because I said so!
OBSESSED with Elden Ring. Go smoke a pack of cocks, faggot.
Not really, souls self-plagiarized from this game million times and it barelly feels like a different experience. Don't even listed about le gimmic bosses - there are like 2.5 bosses with actually interesting gimmics.
(of course there are still things this games does good or different but since you've actually asked the question here instead of just playing you shouldn't be too interested in this)
DeS is the best one
play it on PC emulator and it holds up surprisingly well graphically too, I think it looks better than DaS which has a much flatter appearance.
Hell, this thread makes me want to replay it again. There are community servers for summoning too, even works on emulator.
Yes. There's something beautiful about seeing the boulder trap in 1-1 and thinking "Oh, so that's where that came from!"
yeah. It's very different in a. Lot of ways and for some people it's the best one
There's so many moments like that, I feel bad I didn't play DeS first but I never had a PS3 unfortunately. Like 5-1 is literally just Baby Blighttown. All the bosses were pretty easy too, coming from higher octane sequels. The only boss I struggled with was the Maneaters and that's because it's so fucking janky
i played 1-1 and found it boring the tileset never changes
what the fuck are you talking about
you played one level
no, it's way too archaic at this point, and the boss fights are almost all shit, or gimmicks that future titles did better.
I think the people who like the game played it first and have serious nostalgia for it, but I'm someone who played backwards to it, and it feels barely functional to me.
Yes. DeS has elements to it that the other games don't, and a great soundtrack.
>and it feels barely functional to me.
The actual combat mechanics are exactly the same as Dark Souls.
>exactly the same as dark souls
>frame delays on attacks after pressing the button longer than dark souls
>no kicks or plunging attacks
no, they're not exactly the same.
I liked Demons Souls a lot. I was interested from when people on Yea Forums were importing the Chinese copy but I didn't bite. I imported the US copy as soon as it came out and then bought the UK copy. I played it a lot. But it's got problems. Gimmicky bosses, horrible areas, but a great groundwork with sone unique and interesting ideas.
Definitely play it. I don't think there's a more iconic boss than Tower Knight still. It's not like there's a flawless Souls.
bruh Demon's Souls is actually better IMO because it actually has smooth transitions from light and heavy attacks.

this video just showcases how shit DaS2 looks and feels. ugh
how does that make it better when it has less functionality, and your attacks are more delayed from a hardware standpoint, playing it after playing the others felt like the game was fighting against me to function.
maybe it's because the PS3 controller sucks dick or something.
Yeah. Especially if you have a ps5 for the remake.
The controls are clunky and the game isn't well polished but it hits a lot of high notes the other games don't.
Atmosphere is just 10x better than later games without question and it has a lot of the smaller things that were dropped or not used in later iterations, like world tendencies.
The way npcs exist in the world is better done than later games, the prince dude you help in des is just miles ahead of siegmier even in later games.
That said the enemies in des are the levels not the bosses. The bosses in des are there as a puzzle and to represent the level itself, outside the flame lurker and Maneater they're piss easy because they're thematic not because they're supposed to be hard.
Playing des shows you what souls games could have been if it didn't fall for the difficulty meme. Its hard but the complexity wasn't about how it could cheat you with dumb bullshit. (Except for the dragons, fuck dragons)
>>no kicks
It has the hilt attack which functions the same
>functions the same
>more delay
>lower reach
fuck off
Anyone know if it works good on an emulator?
hey these are pretty good. No idea why people shit on DeS. looks smooth as eggs IMO.
youtube.com
it's best played on an emulator at 60FPS
Demon's Souls win this. The attacks look like they have a lot more oomph.
Smooth 60fps. Even on an old-ass computer with a 4 core CPU below the recommended specs, I was able to get 60fps by lowering the preferred SPU threads to 1
you have shoves which are entirely identical to kicks
first impressions matter user, probably why youve never had a girlfriend, or job.
...
your complaint literally makes no sense though
you're not saying "I didn't enjoy the aesthetic of 1-1", you're saying "the aesthetic of 1-1 didn't change during 1-1"
like no fucking shit you deranged tard, it's the same level. go play 2-1 and you'll get an entirely different aesthetic. go play 3-1. go play 4-1. you're so fucking dumb.
Some levels are great, some are absolutely insufferable. Same goes for the bosses.
All in all it's still a good game though, and it's a must play if you're a fan of souls games.
God, I can't wait for open worlds to fuck off.
Anyone want to do a coop playthrough on RPCS3?
