nah, just your standard over the shoulder bullshit action game.
I like the first collision with scrambled eggs just the screaming back and forth haunted by it
>Guys we... crossed... the line
kino writing
Any game that shits on the U.S. military is based
It's alright. Nothing amazing, but it's far from being bad.
Agreed
I love when it’s time to figure it out shows up
Gameplay is serviceable, which is to be expected. It’s the game’s thematic point(s) that I contend with, particularly the meta-commentary. Plus any creator who says that not actually engaging with their full work counts as a legitimate way to “finish” it is either a grifter or a hack
It was a very shit game but the brainlet writing spoke to many retards.
Bad gameplay. The "twist" of it doesn't really work at all
Walkers gotta per so he uses the doughboy fucking dropped the camel
Walkers gotta pee in cutscene
Drops stinkyshit
Then side bitches wanna go home
Walker just ends up pissing his pants while cumming to the best gore
IS THAT A-....FICTIONAL WAR CRIME? AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SAVE ME NIGGERMAN! THINK OF THE HECKIN FICTIONAL LIVES! YOU CAUSED A FICTIONAL GENOCIDE IN A BING BING WAHOO GAME DONT YOU FEEL LIKE A MONSTER?!?
I loved the music, especially at the late stages of the game.
yeah nice zipline simulator
The fact that I went into it blind and didn't have a bunch of faggots winking and nodding at me telling me it was the best game ever because of meta commentary bullshit was a good thing. A case of 'the fanbase ruined the game' for a lot of people.
>THINK OF THE HECKIN FICTIONAL LIVES!
YES!! THIS STOPPED BEING A GAME!!
The time it took to change your tampon the bad guys got away bitch FUCK
>Load game from previous save
Does it again
One of the best games of its generation. I hardly find any flaw to it.
Why do you niggers shit on Spec Ops but suck MGS 2's dick? It's okay when japan does it?
God damn that's a cringey quote
MGS2 is fun and pretentious without taking itself too seriously, spec ops the line is boring and pretentious and takes itself very seriously
Cuddle pillow fuzzy 2 compared to spec ops reconnect with the men later to toss the ball around and drink Miller and discuss the line
Spec Ops gameplay blows the fuck out of MGS2, how is Spec Ops boring but MGS2 isn't? The epic Kojima jokes makes it so much better?
And taking yourself seriously is only bad to zoomers raised in ironic culture, nothing bad with that.
Go away bot.
It's a mediocre third person shooter with some extremely kino moments.
You can smell when I’m online
ITT
People that complain about Spec Ops message being invalid because you're forced into it probably also argue that all literature is incapable of delivering a message because the story is unchanging.
Taking yourself seriously only works when the audience takes you seriously as well, if you don't build a compelling enough narrative, it only makes the 'serious' message you're trying to get across come off as extremely self-inflated. Spec Ops is extremely boring in my opinion, pretty much any other third person shooter is more fun. MGS2 is an extremely fun sandbox-type game, and even if you don't like it, you can't deny it has very unique appeal. The fact that it doesn't take itself seriously means it can tell its serious messages without feeling like its preaching at the player, which Spec Ops: The Line fails at horrendously considering it literally preaches at you in the loading screens. I'm saying this as someone who enjoys both MGS2 and Spec Ops: The Line, but Spec Ops: The Line fails when you realize you actually don't have a choice to nuke the children except 'just stop playing the game bro', which just feels pretentious if you're anchored enough in the real world to not feel like a war criminal for pressing a button that makes pixels hit pixels.
No it doesnt
Mediocre game with good ideas but poor execution. The music was kino though.
Bad comparison, books never tell you it's 'your fault' that things are happening in the game. It's a unique feature of videogames that the player themselves can be implicated in the result of decisions. The developers do their best to intentionally try and trick you into making a 'choice', and then use that element to further the narrative of guilt. Unfortunately, the gambit of making the player feel like they're at fault completely fails once they realize they never actually had a real choice, making the entire latter half of the game's narrative fall apart.
Let’s go park somewhere else so we can air our fat cocks out
I never took the message of SOTL to be "It's your fault and you should feel bad"
For me the message I took away was "Generic action heroes in the style of Soap McTavish that yell MARINES GET IT DONE while dropping bombs and shooting thousands of people will come out fucked in the head on the other side."
FOR ME the game is a critique of storytelling that was so common in CoD and other shooters at the time.
>FOR ME the game is a critique of storytelling that was so common in CoD and other shooters at the time.
This
It's obvious
it's good because I can shoot both sand niggers and americans in it
Was a mid-tier TPS with great presentation.
Was horribly over-praised for political reasons, either because "it's sticking it to the cawadooty fans" or "finally America da badguy", or both, despite neither actually being true.
Journalists and reddit killed this game by overhyping the fuck out of it and portraying it as something that it wasn't, le white phosphorous made me feel so bad and le epin should have uninstalled. Normal people played it and immediately realized that it wasn't some profound subversive masterpiece, that was just a pretentious lie concocted by the Hot Take industry so they could write long articles smelling their own farts.
>Journalists and reddit killed this game by overhyping the fuck out of it
Now you're just making shit up. It was underrated for years
Walker had to piss the whole time that’s the secret
I don't get why everybody creams themselves about the WP scene when in the same fucking game you have the active choice to gun down civilians in cold blood because they pissed you off and it even stays in character
Within his heart of darkness was fear of peeing in public which he wrestled with at the end
And he had no idea he had descended into the scariest theme park in the world
generic gameplay
tries to shock you with imagery
illusion of choice, its all linear
"the only winning move is not to play"
What I got out of it was a critique of storytelling that was so common in CoD and other shooters at the time that tells you you're bad for enjoying it. But, considering CoD has pretty much always been shit on for bad storytelling, it didn't feel like a useful or intriguing critique, considering it's never been the zeitgeist to praise braindead action stories.
>or "finally America da badguy"
MW2 unironically did this years before Spec Ops was even a thing. The entire plot was an American general helping a Russain terrorist orchestrate WW3. I would even argue that Shepherd was a critique of the US' warmongering nature. But hey, it didn't berate the player for being a terrible person, so it doesn't count.
>Spec Ops is extremely boring in my opinion, pretty much any other third person shooter is more fun.
What bizzaro world do you come from? Except Vanquish I didn't play any third person shooter that was as tight as Spec Ops. RE6 had a nice gameplay but terrible level design, Gears of War is absolute garbage, Binary Domain mediocre, Uncharted the same...
And the sandbox gameplay of MGS2 doesn't save it, it's funny the first time you find a new use for an item but it ultimately has no real usage to your progression.
>it literally preaches at you in the loading screens.
Another one. The game makes you follow a story and you take it personally, that's seriously telling when a game makes so many anons uncomfortable.
>b-but no, I'm just annoyed, that's why those loadings live rent free in my head when I speak about the game!
There's nothing "pretentious" in that, and there's no "just stop playing the game bro", it's a story and events HAVE to happen.
I love how many anons point out you don't have the choice, but how many really did try to break the illusion on their first try? And when there's actually a choice now it doesn't count? Get the fuck out of here.
It flopped because nobody who played it could be honest about what the game actually was.
Yes it’s only for the kids who played quarterback
>considering CoD has pretty much always been shit on for bad storytelling
That's usually in gaming forums but for normies, CoD was good storytelling. I saw many posts on fb when some CoD character had died.
>CoD has pretty much always been shit on for bad storytelling
There was a time when it was praised for it, but it was more than a decade ago.
>as tight as spec ops
We're not going to agree on this, plus it's subjective, but Spec Ops: The Line has pretty much no variation in gameplay except sometimes you shoot glass to make sand fall on people.
>you took it personally
Projecting, you don't have to take a bad narrative device personally to know it's being preachy and boring. I'm not offended at it, I'm disappointed they took such a ham-fisted way try and get their point across.
Like I said in my post before, I like Spec Ops: The Line. I let myself enjoy the illusion of the game and enjoyed my first playthrough. Unlike you, though, I can enjoy a game while also recognizing it has flaws. I liked it, and it's pretentious. I liked it, and it's hamfisted. I liked it, and shooting the same enemy type for 5 hours is not fun. Stop tying your personality to a videogame, user.
>CoD
It does it in a very sanitized and normie friendly way where the military as of whole is righteous and it's just one bad general

>Spec Ops gameplay blows the fuck out of MGS2,
Did we play the same games?
So you're saying that the story doesnt work in spec ops but does work in mgs 2 because there's kojima poop jokes thrown in there?
Binary Domain was a lot more fun though. And it had far more unique enemies than brown insurgents and rouge Americans. Seriously, why did people all of sudden started talking about the gameplay Spec Ops like it's some unsung masterpiece, when it's anything but.
>comparing a 6 hour tps with a 15 hour stealth tps
No you played something else while I played brute force
No.
Maybe the ultimate litmus test for whether or not someone is a midwit.
If someone starts rambling about metanarrative, boom, midwit detected, they're a dork that's gone far too long without being stuffed in a locker.
Anyone who treats this game as a "fuck you" to any other games or their respective audiences is a bitter, projecting incel.
Because it shits on mutts and their love of CoD
Constipation no breathing can’t give a fff cause I’m taking a seriously huge shit without being about to move an inch
