The power ups are way better than they were in Star Allies. It's due to how they constructed the levels but also by locking the best features of each power behind a level up system. Even the most OP powerups are not enough to remove the challenge from the post game bosses.

Enemy ai sees 'player is using projectile' ai goes 'use dodge to avoid'.
There is nothing else. Game isn't checking if the projectile is going at the enemy or anything.
Just 'player projectile = dodge'.

I miss the movelist but it kinda reminds me of older games where you just had to figure stuff out on your own/through friends, and it almost makes it cooler

The difference is Kirby enemies/bosses actually look like they take damage rather than just not react to anything like souls

I liked how the dodge had you using i-frames AND positioning because you could go through attacks but still be hit on the other side if you didn't consider positioning for active attacks. Since Kirby has a better dodge and the entirety of Souls games' combat has been reduced to pressing the roll button at the right time, I conclude that Kirby has a better combat system.

except it's not aimed at them. It's not Player Projectile + aimed at Entity = Dodge.
It's just Player projectile = Dodge. The webm doesn't even have the player locked onto anything and shooting away from the enemies. They all dodge in unison. If the spell that was cast was bubbles or Carian swords. they would dodge and do nothing as the spell hits them uncontested.

I feel like they should nerf dodge roll since it actually makes the act of jumping almost pointless. Dodging in the 2D games was balanced enough to not make jumping pointless. Because actually jumping and positing the attacks from bosses is actually quite fun if you don't dodge roll everything

I'd be okay if they took i-frames away, or made the window really small. Like Astral Chain.

it's far to easy to trigger the slowdown and triggering the slowdown seems to give you even more iframes than a normal dodge, if both things were a bit more strict it would feel a lot better. I shouldnt be able to stand inside of danger just because i dodge rolled at the right time, it should require me to dodge roll into actual safety.

I feel like they could keep the current one if you could do it once every five seconds or so. I've seen too many people just spam the living shit out of it. Maybe they could indicate it by making kirby sweat like a cartoon and after five seconds there is a flash or sound indicating you can do it again

The Soulsborne games all have extremely mediocre combat, which has ironically only gotten worse since Bloodborne made the series more combat focused (meaning fewer of the novelty encounters and ambushes from Demon's and DS1). Most fights are won by mashing one or two attack buttons with it usually making no difference which attack you use or which order you use them in, true combos have no relevance outside of high level multiplayer fights. 99% of the combat consists of reading enemy attack patterns, pressing either the dodge or parry button at the right time, and then spamming attacks or performing a le epic cutscene takedown. Compare them to dedicated ARPGs like Diablo they suck. Compared to dedicated hack-n-slash or beat em ups they suck. Compared to dedicated 3d multiplayer melee fighters like For Honor or Morhau they suck. This series would have gone nowhere if not for the gaming media hyping it up as being the

This game's only measure of success is how fast you beat the boss, so it'll be that way. I'm just glad most abilities have some mechanic you have to use and position right to get there, not just whatever move is highest damage. Drugs just push it even more

movesets in kirby differ significantly while in souls it's purely cosmetic and there's more viable ways to dodge in forgotten land than in elden ring
