>played it before I ruined my dopamine respecters
Soul
Distinctive art
Charmingly and unashamedly imperfect
People had fun making
SOVL
creator's vision, no executives
>comparing prerendered artwork to ingame footage
>the so-called “soulless” game is actually one of the greatest and most soulful modern games in a long time
What did autists and redditors mean by this?
>Jew hand
Soulless
>no Jew hand
Soul
Good attention to detail.
It's heart, love, care and life.
It's like McDonald's vs a home cooked meal.
Flawed but passionate
>NPCs need it defined
that is the definition of soul, you either get it or you don't, if you're a robot or a bugman you won't ever understand what SOUL is. there are lots of ways to describe it
>when passion shines through
>dreams brought to life
>you feel it inside
>someone dreamed of this
>the dev/s had fun
Soul: "Speaks to your nostalgia"
In most cases its nothing more than that.
don't like new thing
Neither of those have it.
scene composition
The reason why left is better than right is because theres a clear and distinct background and foreground and two distinct elements the image guides your eyes to. Right is too open and has no visual clarity
same with that guys donkey kong pic
4 words: Soul MORE WITH LESS
Soul is doing more with less.
You can see that they have gone above and beyond with what limitations they have had blocking their way and produced something that will stand out and look good forever forward.
HK, Rain World, Kenshi, Katana Zero, Rayman Origins and more, these all have soul and are post-2010
Literally everything in DKC for the snes was prerendered art too you absolute fucking zoomer.
I like big booby
This as well.
Labor of love.
most games before 2010
Artistic Vision Given Form
Rough but still appealing
this is a good one
TimeSplitters 2 has SOULVERLOAD, you can tell the devs had an absolute blast making it
Soul just means nostalgia
Anything you don't like!
I’ll give Rare credit for experimenting with each new DKC and adding new mechanics to the sequels while trimming the fat.
The new games felt like regurgitating 1 with a new coat of paint.
casual gamers ruin games

>WHAT. IS. SOUL? BEEP BOOP. DOES NOT COMPUTE.
>CANNOT MEASURE SOUL. CANNOT SEE SOUL. CANNOT HOLD SOUL.
>ERROR. SOUL DOES NOT EXIST.
Not necessarily. KotOR2's production was notoriously nightmarish but it's full of sovl.
>Define SOUL
Not touched by westoid hands
passion work
not made for money
there are many Western games with soul, you're just unashamedly ignorant
Abe's Oddysee is an obvious pick, one of the only games in history where the publisher was actually not allowed to enter the dev's headquarters without permission
with limitation breeds creativity
For what's essentially Retro doing an official fangame/tribute of DKC, Returns and Tropic Freeze were pretty damn good
The Entire SaGa series
Zoomers dont know shit
>publisher was actually not allowed to enter the dev's headquarters without permission
imagine funding the game and being told to fuck off
Games developed by gamers. I think that's the big difference, games used to be developed by people who liked games and made games they themselves wanted to play or see made. Now it's an industry and is full of teams of people showing up to do the minimum amount of work and get paid. Just compare something like Rareware, where the stamper bros would work 12-18 hour days and only ever take Christmas morning off, to today where everyone wants union benefits and 6 hour days and four day workweeks. People don't like making games, they don't like seeing games get made, they want to clock in and clock out like stocking shelves at the grocery store.
Marketing buzzword on Yea Forums
More like excessive bloom
Humanity shining through corporatism
I hate how sterile and corporate everything has become
Yeah, you'd never hear of something like that happening in the modern industry. That's why it's shit.
the new mario strikers kept the edgy artstyle, how did that happen? I have no idea
Skill limited by hardware.
Palpable amounts of passion.
heart, substance, no wokeshit

Passionate Attention To Detail
>the butchered remake
>the butchered reboot made by one on the series creators but he went full retatd
>we'll never get good oddworld content ever againggak2
What's the likelihood of BDSP getting an expansion that gives us a new experience.
