To some extent, yes, there should be a general risk statement that you agree to when you enter the park, for people who might otherwise be unaware. But this kid was REJECTED from 2 other rides, THAT DAY, for his weight. His parents even didn't stop to say, hey kid, maybe this isn't a good idea, you're probably too big for most of these rides for it to be safe. No. Just, go try another one. Keep trying until someone fuck's up. With that mentality, all the safety scissors in the world will not stop someone from cutting their finger off.

People need to do their due diligence to protect themselves and their family. We can't rely on warning labels on everything like a bunch of idiots.

Of course this kid was 14, so the parents are to blame above all else. Even if this event hadn't occurred, they should have been in legal trouble for child abuse.

even if he had the concept of responsibility, he's not legally responsible for anything, and this has nothing to do with his race
you can blame his parents if you want to, and certainly, if I had a kid that size I'd make sure he's aware that the world isn't built for him and to be cautious of anything like that
but if you depend on others to make that discernment (the safety of a ride, a seat, a ladder, etc), as anyone would, then yes they are culpable
make no mistake, the park will be held liable and it has nothing to do with the fact that the kid is black. this could have happened to anyone his weight
