Regrettable, it was an awesome game. Even if they're cheap, I'll always wonder why so many gayman companies find it impossible to try leaning on the community or something a bit. A lot of folks would still leap at the chance to help do something like that just for their names in the credits. People already have done work to make things look better than they have any right too in pure emulation. Like, years/decades ago.

They're perfectly capable of godly remasters. They did two separate remasters of FF4 for two separate platforms (3DS and PSP) and BOTH were amazing in their own ways.

FFVIII can't be lazier, they had to remake assets from scratch. That's why it's sold as a remaster.

Never played it, though, so it may very well run worse.

I saw so many disingenuous faggots covering for it by saying that it's supposed to be like that because the animations on PS1 were at a lower framerate but now we know for sure that the fps in this is WORSE than the original PS1 release. The FFIX remaster wasn't this sluggish at all and that's another PS1-era Square JRPG. Now that word is spreading I hope SE will fix it.
