Why is this game so bad?

That's easy to explain. The game isn't better than the last 2 games and is very bad. Hope that explains why people shit on it.

Tales has been in a weird place for awhile. I don't think they are bad but the newer games don't appeal as much to old fans. I miss the linear combat system desu

You suffering through it on hard like I did? Oh man the final dungeons and bosses were a miserable slog with those enormous health bars. It was a very mediocre game, very average. The whole time with the plot I kept just thinking "thats it?". Then near the end it goes a bit weird like these games always do, but it all seemed so pointless and like the characters were barely accomplishing anything the entire game until the very end.
I don't know maybe I'm just burnt out on Tales games. In the past, games like Syphonia, Vesperia, or especially Abyss, I really loved Abyss, I thought these games were freaking amazing. But ever since them I haven't found a tales game that really clicked with me like those did. I'm not sure if its because their formula is too overdone with me or because they just haven't had a game as good as those 3 since.

You can combo bosses in Berseria/Zestiria so they are automatically better. Also I would like to meet the person that thinks Arise has a better party than Berseria. Probably a literal robot.

Definitely not better than Berseria. The story is almost as dumb as Destiny and Eternia and the characters are as shallow as theirs.
Berseria has a dated engine, but at least the writting is decent for the series, easily one of the best in that regard along Abyss

This game was a scam, honestly. Five years for a mediocre entry. Most of the good games in the series took 2, 3 or 4 years at best.

The only thing that Yea Forums changed their mind on the series is that Asuna is the true mary sue. she literally poisoned the fucking well and is the true reason that the series was terrible. There was potential in the series as a sci fi adventure, but it was ruined because the story direction went toward a romantic focus for whatever reason.

Yes the game it's not good. I quit not much after the 5th lord. Reskinned enemies from start to finish with inflated HP bar are just not fun. Also the party is really boring as well compared to other tales, Dovalhim in the only funny one but he would be the worst in any other game.
