Might be harder to implement something with so many limbs. As for me I want less house abominations in videogames, not more.
It's not about getting rid of the fear it's learning to act despite the fear. It also helps to have a spooky bug actually touch you because you realize they're mostly harmless. I used to rarely get house centipedes and in my current place there's cave crickets in the basement, scary as hell but all they do is jump and bounce off of you.

I can't speak for all other types of centipedes, but house centipedes are pretty much harmless and eat everything else you don't really want in your house, with the added benefit of not creating webs or damaging any of your housing
That being said they're SUPER fucking quick and that many legs is indeed creepy

That exact species eat spiders and other annoying pests tho, so yeah they're not only harmless but actually helpful.
If they bite you (which means you go annoy them) you get some small bubble on your skin for some hours and then it's gone, that's it.

My room is generally bug-free, at worst I get the occasional stinkbug or little house spider. Yesterday I brought up laundry and as soon as I put the basket down this huge black/brown spider darted out from nowhere at warp speed and froze up next to the basket. I am thankful that spiders are so much easier to model and animate than snakes are, and every game ever uses them for cheap jump scares instead of snakes.
