There's exponentially more games being made, and the odds that a given game is doing something novel enough that you can forgive its flaws is always decreasing relative to the history and scope of games as a media. a lot of anime I remember fondly were made in the 00s, when I actually started getting int anime, so I like the art style quite a bit. Even though others may hate it. I also feel like the newest art style isn't as homogenized as the the decades past, and you'll find more anime that has wildly different art styles when compared to eachother

I loved the 90s aesthetic. It was probably the most expressive style so far, but I haven't seen enough 80s stuff to speak on it.
Anime now is so flat and lifeless I haven't been able to finish a single new series since Psycho-Pass. And I mostly got through that because of the weekly Yea Forums threads and the soundtrack.

vidya is worse now than the 90s and early 00s, but significantly better than 2009-2015, most of the 8th generation and half of the 9th generation were absolute garbage, the most uninspired FPS/TPS games of all time were flooding the market, Japan was farming out to western devs and making absolute garbage, AA studios were shuttering left and right. sure there was still a handful of classics but nothing compared to the quality of prior and future years. Videogames really started to pick up again in 2017 and has generally had some fantastic releases every year
