The Omen are all manifesting growths and bone mutations that seem extremely detrimental to them, not to mention that with Godwyn tapped into the power of the Crucible through the Erdtree he's spreading and growing like a massive, literal cancer. If the Crucible's power was unchecked and allowed to flow through all life, the same thing may befall every living thing.

Additionally, we have to question the origins and existence of the Erdtree. Whereas we're told about the origins of the Elden Ring in relation to the Crucible and Elden Beast, nothing ever specifically talks about where the Erdtree came from.
