Holy shit

Why nobody recommended it here, I'm disappoint
Finished it today, it's literally better than Elden Ring and Tinalands combined

Title? I want to check it out
Captcha: ASDM8

The main problem with Blasphemous is that it simply isn't fun. Maybe I'm just tired of the indie formula but I feel like the amount of unfun enemies, gank squads, and bullshit encounters you run into in Blasphemous far outweigh any other indie games. I've since stopped playing it but while I was I always dreaded dying because every time I did I would have to go through the slog of getting back to where I was.
The first part was a great area but past that I just lost the will to play, and even the first area had its issues. Like in what world are those stupid fucking things good enemies? They just attack you around and fucking with your hp and are absolute cancer to fight. The best way to deal with any enemy in Blasphemous is to find the easiest cheese for it so that you have to interact with it as little as possible since none of them are actually fun to engage with.
I'm currently playing Hollow Knight and while taking a large fall is super punishing I always end up coming back because I know I can do better and make it further. With Blasphemous it wasn't about doing better or getting further, it was just about how much bullshit I was willing to put up with.

since all it takes for you to like a game is pretty visuals you should check out cuphead

>6000 word blog post to jerk off to hollow knight
You made this thread just to post that didn't you user?

he doesn't bring up hollow knight until the second to last sentence

Blasphemous is relatively easy, relaxing game so I really don't know what you are talking about.
We did, it's fun, extremely beautiful, although, when it comes to gameplay, a bit generic game.

I bought this game for the aesthetic
Metroidvania is shit though, didn't play it

It's a game that is carried by it's presentation.
Gameplay is nothing remarkable and the same can be said about the exploration aspect.
I particularly didn't like how poorly the upgrades are placed within the game world. You basically get nothing of value for a large portion of the game. And if I remember rightly there was literally only one useful sword core in the game, the others were dogshit.

Blasphemous!
I hate indie games, but this one really impressed me

Well, Blasphemous looks kinda gnarly and sickly, but I enjoyed it because it reminded me of Souls
And Cuphead looks great, very tasty, I'll probably buy it

Best art direction in years. I hope you played it with the Spanish dub though, it's a lot more immersive.

why weould you play a kkk game?

Only complain of mine is how fucking obscure the way to get the true ending is. They literally give you no fucking clue you can do what you have to do. And this happens in an area where you never find any enemies.

Still, besides that. Absolute masterpiece. Fight with Crisanta is videogame kino.

this. I particularly disliked how all the "upgrades" you actually do get are more like keys than upgrades. they don't improve your mobility or make playing the repentant one more fun, they're just items you equip that make platforms appear, vines grow, or just let you survive specific falls you otherwise auto-die from.
Presentation is really solid though, and the themes are a pretty cool change of pace.

I've played it for the first time a few months ago (all three endings and all three handicapped NG+ playthroughs) and kinda have to agree with - the game started decently challenging but then suffered from the same issue as most of Metroidvanias: you got too powerful and suddenly there was no more challenge. Even the second Crisanta fight, while being my favourite fight in the game due to how well it rewards you for learning her patterns and correctly dealing with them, was too easy because parrying is pretty easy in this game (not to mention that you can make it even easier if you feel like it). Basically the difficulty went from Souls to your usual Metroidvania, and I wish it stayed as the former until the end of the game.

I hate how long his helmet is

>are more like keys than upgrades
This is a good point. You also have limited slots so you have to swap them out often.
But mostly I remember additional rosary bead slots being locked for a very long time.

Shit taste desu famalan

It just confuses me is all, why is it that long?

Nazarenos

Thats pretty based actually

>gank squads
Stopped reading right there. The only remaining question is: Are you a zoomer or just retarded?
There's literally nothing wrong with "ganks" in video games

The only thing I remember pissing me off in this game was how hidden the ability to teleport between save points was. I was close to the end when I randomly unlocked it.

Pretty sure it was just locked behind church donations.
With how little you can do with game's currency, I just ignored move list upgrades and went straight for church donations, especially after I started to notice positive changes from doing so.

It looks great but it's not really fun and the themes are midwit tier. The gameplay felt clunky to me.

>Hollow Knight fan
Blasphemous has some flaws but at least iy has a hook, meanwhile Hollow Knight is borderline painful to start to play. Blasphemous, Super Metroid, SotN, Luna Nights, Ori, Axiom Verge... all get you playing and rolling through the game shortly after starting, Hollow Knight, on the other hand, takes 300 years to build up a pace, and its environments, while unique in their own way, still feel really similar between them. Basically just play SotN.

I played thru it when it came out and, despite the awesome art direction, found it pretty boring gameplay-wise. but my friend told me they've added a lot of stuff and its like a new game now. does that hold any truth?

i dropped two keys for it last expansion right here
i was sold by the snk-tier pixelporn, was kept in it by the level design
the amount of content they added for free pushed it from an 8 to a nine for me though
fairly easy rec for anyone that wants a metroidvania that is more vania than metroid

luna nights is really good too, never played any 2hu but that shit is permanently on sale and well worth it

They polished it. Control is fine now and most of the new content is kinda hard to find. You basically played a beta.

Well I didnt. I spend it all on new moves I never used and missed out on probably the most useful ability in the game.

Yeah, from the metroidvanias I've played Luna Nights has definitely the best gameplay, my only gripe with it it's that it's too short, but I guess better short and amazing than long and boring. But perhaps another boss or something would be really fun.

Precisely my take, I didn't burn out on it, which is rare for a vania.
I've restarted dawn of souls and hollow knight three times each because I always get bored and hiatus it until I forget where I was.

>I spend it all on new moves I never used
This is exactly why I didn't to bother investing in them after unlocking first charge attack and trying it out - after finding miracle that speeds up your basic attacks, I figured that I might as well just abuse jump-cancel attacks and basic 4-hit combo while ignoring all other moves that seem to be pointless. I do think it's an issue with how expensive yet kinda underpowered those unlockable moves are.

The game is sponsored by the KKK

I had followed it from before launch, since it's developer is from the same city as me and they put a few demos in different videogames fair. I loved the aesthetic and music (really, it's amazing, even better if you know the things it's inspire from) and the map and level design, but I found the combat very lacking since the first demo. Sadly, it didn't improve much in the final release. I still finished it, but I didn't do the true ending, and I have to go back one day for the free DLCs and the 100%.
I'll still recommend it if you like Metroidvanias in general and you don't mint a kinda simple combat system. I am very confident in then building on what they had and adding a deeper combat system and abilities for the sequel, I'm definitely buying it day one.

Its carried hard by the art and theme. The "gameplay" is your basic attacks and maybe 1 or 2 special attacks that you unlock through upgrades. not a lot of variety. You can also unlock powers/spells but once you get a good one there is no reason use any others. Sword grappling on walls is a cool idea, but its fucking awful when you actually have to use it. Platforming in general is aids and trying to hop from ladder to ladder even more so. the npcs that you meet are pretty decent no complaints. The way they tried to tell the story of cvstodia was shit. I could not care less when i found a piece of "lore" that was just some random bone fragment with some flavor text that added literally nothing. The story in general is pretty vague but its supposed to be "soulsy". Fuck ER but saying this game is better is horseshit

played it for like an hour, seemed like a cool aesthetic but not particularly fun. rip

You missed out on all of the threads

>NUN with a GUN

Attached: sister_mag-nun.jpg (610x700, 64.52K)

how do npcs gank you. aren’t you already fighting them

I love nuns.
Not in some sick coomer fashion,
I love nuns because they are pure untouchable women.
A nun with a gun is the only woman I'd take a bullet for.
And I'm jewish.

Yeah, pretty much came here to post this.
Looks incredible, but that's about it.

youtu.be/zvdWohmGiFw

where can i find more music like its ost? Spanish music usually doesn't sound that spooky and melancholic

neat.
most depictions are subversive american creations so that's rare to hear online.
in my youth there was an abbey not too far from where I lived and it had a playground and I would often see geriatric nuns zipping around town on mopeds, they were good folk

i love hitting the attack button 100 times to kill a stunlocked enemy

I love the game but more for aesthetics than the gameplay. Mechanically, it's an extremely simplistic game and what is there isn't even particularly compelling. The bugs are extremely annoying and they don't pare well with the bullshit autosave feature. The platforming is atrocious, and they tried to mitigate this through patches, but with varying degrees of success, and one of the DLCs being platform focused was to me just incredibly bizarre. The lore is just bad to me, I dunno, it feels like it's trying to be more inspired by Dark Souls than Catholicism, and this creates a really strange dissonance.

I like how nice and detailed the gore is in the game. The sprites in the game are nicely detailed and even the gore was well done too.

The game looks fucking amazing, but its not really that great. The bosses are all pretty shit, the enemies look cool but arent very fun to fight, and theres no fucking double jump. I liked it enough to beat it once, then go back for the true ending, but I damn sure didnt play it to 100%. I've heard there are a few free add ons, but I never tried them - anyone know if theyre worth playing, or more of the same from the base game?
I hope the developers make more games, i would definitely support them if they made something with similar style and better gameplay

stopped reading here. this user thinks they're smarter than they really are.

So this is all projection all the way down?
You don't seem to even like your own.

guys, can i play this with keyboard only? i dont have mouse or controller

Why should I, this is no "gotcha", boyim, this is an honest ask.
You don't but I don't have to ask as to why.
You ever wondered about that?

its a very basic game, should be fine on a keyboard but controller is usually more comfortable for platforming

>god still talks to some jews
