People said the same thing about Tomb Raider that was released in 2001, and Mortal Kombat released in 1995.

The first movie was better.

That means those movies surpassed all previous ones. It sounds plausible when you are up against things like Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter.

yea, that means the movie industry improved it shit dude, this sonic movie is the best adaptation of a video game plot to a movie screen

It's also a feat in itself that absolutely nobody expected a live Sonic movie could possibly be good.

3 will be better

3 likely won't have Carrey, so no.

>Stone will rename himself Dr Eggman, vowing to continue Robotnik's legacy.

It's a kids movie.

Absolutely. So many references to trigger my nostalgia (also the memes). And seeing Sonic, Tails and Knux co-oping to defeat Eggman like in Sonic Heroes, my God, they nailed it.

The wedding scene was goofy and way too long tho, but I can forgive it.

Fuck Elden Ring, this was the thing that made me think I can die happy.

Not really. Not with that shitty dance scene, the awful wedding scene, Tails being a non character etc. References don't make a movie good, just because he did that cool SA1 pose doesn't make the movie "the greatest".

>the entirety of the wedding scene after Sonic crashes it down
No.

The world felt strangely "cartoonier" than it did in the first movie, like that Siberian tavern and Wade being downgraded from incompetent to retard, it's not a good look.

>that shitty dance scene
Holy mother of fuck. I had forgotten that even happened. Jesus Christ that was bad.

Not a single person in the theater laughed during the fat lady's rampage while I was watching.

I thought the dance scene was cute.

>plot
Sonic 2 has no plot to adapt.

I was crying on the inside, asking myself what the fuck was I even watching.

I think the dance was funny and the movie was great as well as the references to the games and the memes. And Jim Carrey had his best performance since his golden era.

Lighten up

Sonic is the only video game movie since Mortal Kombat that's actually good.

The first one Is better in general but the second has better action and better set pieces, even if it's weaker narratively and doesn't work its characters that well, seeing cgi alien shit is what I'm here for

I found the part where the bald dude reveals his tattoo of himself in his chest doing the same pose funny, the rest was pretty shit as expected though.

I liked seeing the characters do a dance that wasnt the stupid floss. Scene could have been shorter though. Just have Sonic and Tails immediately BTFO the russian guy in the dance battle.
3 Will be better with even less humans.

Going to see 2 tonight and on Monday for work reasons. I never saw 1 but I doubt it matters

Well I mean, the bar isn't very high so
Anything half decent can be the "best video game movie ever made"

>This is the best video game movie ever made
A grown up "man" typed this. Ponder the situation

1 is good you should watch It after 2

Show me the next big vidya movie

Most respectable thing I've seen posted in Yea Forums tbqhwyf(to be quite honest with you senpai)

I’m going to see it tonight, all the theaters here in New York are all sold out so I’m hoping it lives up to the hype.

Without any spoilers, How was the post credit scene? There has to be one right?

It overshadowed the rest of the movie

It’s Metal Sonic, who else did you think it would be? Shadow?

FYI there's an official "Pre-quill" comic with 5 mini-stories that fill in gaps between the two films.

There are these bounty hunter guys that show up at the start of the second film and have little to no explanation as to who they are.

Just watched the Tarkov movie/webseries. I liked that way more than sonic.

The highs in 2 we're higher but the lows were so much lower. The first one was also.a more consistent movie, where the whole thing was built around Sonic and Tom's friendship. The second movie has a lot going on, and some of it gets lost in the weeds.

Carrey disappointed me. He was basically doing the same schtick as the first movie, which I'm sorry to say is just him playing mad scientist, not him playing Robotnik. Considering how varied the character has been from the Genesis games, Adventure, the boost games, AoStH, SatAM, the OVA, Archie, etc. there's a lot of ways you can handle the character, and while he's always been the best character in the franchise this version is just okay I feel
He showed a lot of promise in his final scene from the first movie, but that only shines through here and there in the sequel.

It sets up a great sequel for this adventure

... Based on a kids game

What is your point?

Video games are for children.

It had me on the EDGE of my seat

And so are some super hero movies what's you're point?

Damn that’s awesome. My friend group are all going to see it tonight I’m excited.
I didn’t really have any expectations I thought Amy was going to pop up next. I don’t believe you though because metal sonic seems to safe.

>Cancel my 5 o'clock at the Olive Garden

It seemed a bit chaotic, but thankfully the director kept it under control.

Yes

Is this the only vidya movie franchise that has a plot that isn't completely removed from the actual game's plot, respects the characterization of the game's characters, and has good references to the games?

They already said they will not replace Carrey as Eggman.

I don't know why you would expect fewer humans in 3. The first one was an original story, but 2 was a very loose take on S3&K, and the only human in That game was Robotnik. The next.movie will likely be a take on SA2, and that story features Maria and Gerald pretty prominently, and plenty of other incidental humans. Even if Robotnik is out due to Carrey's retirement somebody has to free Shadow, and I bet we'll see more of Agent Stone and/or the GUN Commander as a result.

Attached: images.jpg (300x168, 5.95K)

Robotnik isn't dead, they'll just recast the character with a worse, "funny" actor like Jack Black.

Tails says "Who's your daddy?"

Haven’t seen it yet
how cute is Tails in this?

>I think the dance was funny
There was nothing funny about it (literally, there were no jokes). It was just a weird music video-tier sequence.

But Super Mario Bros. was a fun movie. Not great, but fun.

Tails is fucking adorable in the movie

>AoStH
Funny that you mentioned this series because this movie has something in common with it. It's the only time Robotnik actually got powered by the emeralds.

I felt bad for him when Eggman betrayed him and he said he thought Eggman was his friend. Guy has been alone for the majority of his life. Idris Elba is a great actor.

About that

true but that's not a very high bar
elba absolutely slayed the role I was very happy with knuckles, best character

>>the entirety of the wedding scene
>the fat lady's rampage

>not a very high bar
that's not what all the vidya movies before Sonic show.
yeah, Knuckles was a treat.

nutbladder buster extreme
>mfw he uses his tails to cover sonic like a blanket as they sleep

Attached: 1604374592327.png (1111x1080, 1.28M)

not really a movie but AHEM.

>He showed a lot of promise in his final scene from the first movie, but that only shines through here and there in the sequel.
This is how I felt. The best Robotnik moments included the beginning sequence on the mushroom planet (i.e. where he shows off his "survival" skills and trap setups) and the part in Labyrinth zone where he recognized how the booby traps were set up. Everything else just felt like Carrey doing loose improv instead of playing an actual character, with more comedy misses than hits. I also found it weird how Sonic's quill just disappears from the movie entirely despite Robotnik having it in-hand after being "re-hatched".

Is autism a requirement for a person to be into Sonic beyond the age of 12?

>the Death Egg manual was a Sega Genesis manual
>You could hear Robotnik's real VA through it during some of the dialogue between Jim and Sonic
SOUL!!

SOOOOOOOOUL!!!!!

>Sonic movie without Robotnik at all
Not even worth bothering with.

You can tell there are going to be petitions to bring him back.

he cute

Petitions don't speak, money does.

Why is Knuckles so cute in the movie

assfaggots dont count as games

That's sad
