It's bland, Ubisoft-level bullshit.
It's competent in what it does but there is literally zero (haha) reason to play it when you have played the first one. In fact, many systems as well as the story itself (one of the strongest factors of the first game) are WORSE than in Zero Dawn.

Nah it was incredibly boring. I dropped it pretty early on due to how bland it was and I knew it wasn't going to get any better. The sequel was even worse and the first time an interactive movie was disguised as a video game since MGS4.

At least the character writing and interactions are worse than a Marvel movies.

I have a PS5 and have no interest in this game
I played the first one for free and it was a solid meh

Aloy is more robotic than the dinos running around. She must have some sort of high level empathy problem or just so much apathy that even responding like a normal human is beyond her.

Its grindy thanks to the superfluous addition of weapon upgrading, the looter shooter style weapons make the game worse due to constantly entering the menu to swap out bows dependant on whatever it is your killing because the combat itself is now heavily tied to elemental weakness matching. They added a Trapper skill tree but limited the amount of traps you can place before initiating a fight, stealth is less fun because its nearly impossible to ghost encounters, they bring in more bots mid fight just to fuck you over. You spend so much time picking shit up off the ground that in a patch they added the ability to remove the animation meaning you just run around mashing Triangle.

8/10 good game. Exclusive. Good.

I played a few hours of Zero Dawn a few years back, it's perfectly fine, but outside of the robosaurs there's really nothing that separates it from your average open-world Ubisoft game. Pretty generic.

I've beat the game on my PS5 and I can safely say it's mediocre at best. HZD was lightyears better.

I did put 70 hours in ER but I won't defend the bloated state it's in. Open world doesn't work for Souls, should've just made BB2. Unfortunately this is the garbage that sells...

No? I said I only played it for a few hours. I got past the trial part, where the elder ladies explain Aloy's backstory, then put it down. I didn't find it very engaging from the sidequests I did and the main story. Combat is okay, though.

Settings and the variety of gameplay styles. You can stealth around or you can roll in on a horse, rapid-firing poison arrows, while your bird, pet and your summoned buddies are killing everything. You can honest to god turn the game into a souls-like. You can make the game piss easy or actually pretty challenging. Those games give you tools and ask you to go full retard and have fun. Horizon feels basic as fuck in comparison even though you're fighting robot dinos.

Everything you described is hindered by the fact that the games tell you EXACTLY where to go. Also, since Origins, it has lost every ounce of creativity and uniqueness the series had. I
really liked Black Flag and 1 through to Revelations were, honestly, masterpieces but the more recent ones just got extremely bland due to the "Ubisoft formula"

I think it looks very uninteresting, I have a ps4 and ps5. I dont plan on buying it.

The sad thing is you can't actually stealth anymore, the environments aren't built for it now and the AI is not good enough to sustain a stealth playthrough. I remember when AC was a stealth game...

But I don't blindly hate the game, I like it and Zero Dawn a lot. I put 100 hours into forbidden west and I'm sure I'll do another playthrough sometime, particularly if dlc, New game+, or a new hardest difficulty is added.

I don't get the breath of the wild comparison though. Combat in Botw is extremely basic since it's not the point of the game, and it is melee focused with bows as a backup option. In Horizon the combat is the focal point of the game and it's all about your ranged weapons with melee as a backup.

I liked the story, it was cool and I'm excited to see where the 3rd game goes. I wish there was more with the Carja and Nora though. I hope all the tribes are involved in the 3rd game, I'd be a little disappointed if each game has its own set of tribes.
