As for kotfe, hardcore players disliked the content of kotfe because it offered nothing for them in terms of endgame, the raiding community, the game went full single player story mode. But the actual story and content of it is looked back on fondly, and 100% more fondly compared to any of the recent content releases including the current one which is universally considered shit and absoblutely bombed so hard it caused swtor players to stop shilling the game here to cover the fact

HOLY SHIT, this was already answered. They don't have the funds to bring every character back at the same time, which is why they're opting for dlc where a chosen character makes an appearance, does something in the story, and on to the next character. Similar to how despite possibly being dead Torian is involved in the ongoing Mandalorian arc. They don't have the money to bring every character back at once. However we already know most of these characters are coming back, because most of their VA's have confirmed doing voice work for LoTs and Charles himself said the resolution with Arcann being sent off it coming. They also know they have to bring these characters back because as proven by recent expansions Lana can't carry this game at all LOL

The actual reason Swtor can never have another kotfe; A failing mmo, tried something new in desperation, got some money from daddy EA to produce an episodic single player oriented expansion in the line of Mass Effect with no raid content (alienating part of the only people still playing the game). Lost money because of it, turning an mmo into a single player game. Could no longer get big checks from daddy EA again, accepted it's fate as a niche game, and went back to smaller sized content because that's all it can produce now.
They got too cocky and ambitious, for what was always a smol game, with a smol playerbase.
