best theme crashing trooooooooough

I miss space rednecks

the UAC could have steam rolled the Zerg and protoss, it would be like a walk in the park.
HUMANITY BEST!!!!!

I unironically listen to the Terran music from SC1 to this day. It's so good...

Terran 4 from SC2 is better.

Probably the most powerful faction to date. I almost wish that they were added as their own "race" to allow them their own unique units and abilities

I prefer starcraft 2's Terran 3. everything past 120 is great.

Some people might think that SC2 is shit, but the music really did hit good. Gave it a more western feel while still maintaining some of the SC1 energy.

Blizzard has had a fantastic music department for years. Unsure how many of them are left after the mass layoffs, and most seniority abandoning ship in the past 2 years.

>find my old WC2 disk, and download into my computer, and play it for several hours before work.
>manager tells me to go do some menial labor
>immediately blurt out "you duh boss"
It's strange how they made trolls in WC 3 seem much lankier while WC2 trolls were huge. different tribes I suppose.

I miss the 90s evil monsters and faceless hooded evil wizards corny evil.

It's a little silly how they were completely forgotten, Considering how major of a threat they've been if they decided to come back with even bigger guns and started pulling some 40k shit. Starcraft 3 would've taken place long after the UED took everything over.

Only the lower classes are rednecks

Try Warcraft Adventures it's more or less Metzen combined with CDI Zelda.

The UED only succeed so well because they caught everyone by surprise and both Zerg and Protos were in complete fucking shambles and unable to engage

Only kind of. Most of the cinematics for SC1, you'll notice pretty much everyone is rednecks, and everyone has this grunge and look to them. That disappears completely in SC2 as far as I recall. Even the main terran characters, Raynor, Mengsk, Duke, Kerrigan, all have a southern vibe to them, though certainly Raynor is more western and Mengsk brings more sophistication, But then it's more like southern gentry.
So maybe I should have just said "southern" as well. It is the Confederacy after all.

im sorry user, your pic has too much SOUL.

Attached: soul soulless.jpg (1651x562, 896.24K)

The cinematic only showed the lower classes like marines and SCV. In game units like the tank, pilots, battleship and science ball do nothing to give someone a "redneck" feel.

>1

3 is superior, plebe

I'll agree on some of that, but I still defer back to the main characters. And every single cinematic. It was big part of the terran vibe.

Terran 1 and Tristram are my all time favorite vidya songs

I miss how humans in starcraft looked like they had been inbreeding for generations.

Same. It was genuine character.

because the SC2 writers are hacks. Dont forget the whole >overmind was the good guy all along. They didnt know what to do with them since they wanted to change SC from a dark sci-fi story to a happy go lucky kerrigan is a good girl who dindu nuttin. And the UED being an authoritarian shithole that can rape everyone with hyper tech doesnt easily fit in there.

I think they bet on the humans submitting to them after taking out their leader. Instead they dropped into a total war case where everyone was willing to fight till the bitter end, while they were stuck with an overmind that they could control proofly and ancient tech

SC1 vanilla had rednecks as protags, the main characters rarely were featured. Even in the toss campaign you had the one cinematic where the rednecks are the protagonists shooting some dragoon.

the siege tank operator doesnt seem like a high class dude. The aesthetic definitely leaned towards southerners that hate authority and a small elite that controlled a lot of rural areas. I mean, the government was called the confederacy, and the dominion has a whip as symbol

There's some amazing charm in the Terrans just being grug as hell in Starcraft.

>In game units like the tank, pilots, battleship and science ball do nothing to give someone a "redneck" feel.
>gameplay consists entirely of GET A METRIC FUCKTON OF TANKS AND BLOW LITERALLY EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TO SMITHEREENS

Those guys also worked on King's Quest 7 and Leisure Suit Larry 7.

For me it's the STUPID FUCKING PROTOSS RACE JUST MAKE GATEWAY UNITS THE ENTIRE FUCKING MATCH AND DO NOTHING BUT SIT IN AN ARC HOW THE FUCK IS THIS BALANCED HE CAN SIT THERE AND FUCK UP CHEESE AFTER CHEESE WHILE I HAVE TO PLAY PERFECTLY AND I MAKE ONE MISTAKE, ONE FUCKING MISTAKE AND GET COMPLETELY CRUSHED INSTANTLY FUCK THIS STUPID RACE

dick
the marines were all space rednecks for some reason
gave them mountains of soul so i can't complain
>yeah i read you..........."sir"

youtu.be/zAS8KivZX5s I love this one

>overmind was the good guy all along.
Game never said that
Siege tank isn't high class but he sure as hell isn't lower either

>Game never said that
It pretty much did bro
>wow, overmind was actually just a slave
>oh, great noble intentions, it was just working to overthrow its masters
>The xel'naga are the super ultra bad guys, the overmind just wanted to be free and beat them, owo
It was really fucking dumb

A tactic I'm sure works well against Mutalisk and Guardians

I know, I played the game. It never once said the overmind is a good guy, it never even hinted at it.

It's true that the game said it was a slave and planned to free itself, but the game never said what it would do once free.

I won't be fooled on this one. Overmind literally saves the universe and Zerutual is practically gushing the entire time. The entire rhetoric is that the Overmind was just a slave and everything it did bad was not it's own choice.
So if
>everything it did bad was not its choice
>and its only choice was to try and fight the super big bads
>Overmind literally did nothing wrong
>Overmind literally the greatest agent in saving everyone
I mean, next to Kerriga I guess of course, but yeah. Overmind is a hero :^)

Nigga the entire plan of the overmind was getting himself killed, he couldnt do anything after he freed himself becasue he would be dead.

The plan was
>create kerrigan
>make sure kerrigan could contorl the swarm
>get himself killed by going to aiur and leaving himself vulnerable
>have kerrigan take over and get purged by the xelnaga artifact to purge away any of the evil zerg bits she has, then turn into a zerg again to use the zerg for good

>for me, it's the one good and memorable song on the entire ost
you don't say
WC2's ost mogs the fuck out of this one

Notorious BIG

That's your backwards logic, not the game saying he's a good guy.
>have kerrigan take over and get purged by the xelnaga artifact to purge away any of the evil zerg bits she has, then turn into a zerg again to use the zerg for good
Not part of the plan

youtube.com/watch?v=wB79u-YNIAw

>That's your backwards logic
It's really not.

Attached: file.png (637x126, 11.65K)

What guys? Please elaborate. I am genuinely interested.

The majority of the Terran army were criminals pressed into service. They're all rednecks because those are the retards who got caught.

..now it may also be the original marine's were criminals, and what we get in SC1 were the descendants...its something like this or what I said prior.

>Ouruos
>A xelnaga removed from the conflict between Zerg and Protos

I'm just stating how the game presents it. Yeah it's stupid and makes no sense, but that's what they went with anyway. And above all else, it's super fucking lame.

A russian company called Animation Magic.
They did the animation for the CDI games, the Warcraft point and click game, King's Quest VII and Leisure Suit Larry 7.

The sector they were in was a penal colony, until basically the brass of the area decided to separate themselves from the UED and became the Confederacy because the UED denied any support despite the complaints of alien incursions happening.

That's not right, they were always seperate from the UED, purely by the nature of having been shot out into space and completely beyond any sort of possible reasonable interaction or communication. The Confederacy is just the government that formed out there, the og terrans were never part of the UED.

in SC1 the overlord was a giant brain of a bugrace that wanted to consume the universe and grow stronger by incorporating and weaponizing various creatures. With the protoss being the purity of form. The overmind being courageous or trying to be part of a larger conflict between the void or whatever and living being was just retarded

Cool trivia. Thanks!

>the og terrans were never part of the UED
One of the primary goals of the UED was to regain control of the sector by eliminating the confederacy, only to find out the confederacy was replaced by the Terran Dominion.

Yeah I'm aware, but that's very different. They were "reclaiming" lost explorative colonies. A "penal" colony would mean they were shipping prisoners out there on the regular.
Prisoners were just used because no one knew if the expedition was going to work and they were expendable.

>penal colony
The lore in SC1 was that the earth government rounded up psychic humans, prisoners and other miscreants and was trying to get rid of them. a scienist got hold over them and in the end they were shot into space to colonize something. They accidentally ended up in the korpulu sector because of a malfunction. Various space ships crashed on various planets. The people that crashed on tarsonis were lucky that the databanks were mostly undamaged, so they could tech up really quickly, then they rolled the confederacy as the found the other human settlements that spawned from other crashed ships. Two other factions do exist, one is super militaristic to avoid being crushed, the other is the Kel-Morian Combine which managed to use its fast industrial output to create a massive army.

The UED expected everyone to have died on that trip, then they found out some people survived, but they expected them to be weak, sad and be happy to be recognized by the earth humans. Then they saw the overmind and were a bit spooked, so they sent out a small army to take command of the humans, defeat the overmind, and return triumphant.

SC1's manual (where all this backstory is actually from) is legit fantastic sci-fi.
