Music is easily one of the aspects I've enjoyed the most across rts games in general.
Over 50 percent of my favorite vidya music probably is from RTS games, ranging from the classic CNC, Dune and Starcraft games to some of the newer ones like Grey Goo and Act on Aggression, or Deserts of Kharak.

I'm always torn between this and Cataclysm. They're both brilliant and I'm so glad they happened. With the way HW2 and the remaster went, I'm not really enthusiastic about how HW3 will turn out.

For me it's Age 2. Especially with DE improvements like building crumble, update models, 60fps, and 4k, the game is just STUPIDLY gorgeous now. The graphics are so pleasing to the eye and perfectly executed. One of the most beautiful vidyas ever conceived. An achievement in 2d fidelity and artstyle.

I also don't mind scifi or fantasy RTS (I quite like them) but there's something about the historical inspiration and direct use of world cultures (as opposed to something like Stronghold that sort of skims over the actual history of the setting)I like Stronghold though that really hits the nail on the head as far as aesthetic goes, as well.

Age 2 DE is the biggest fluke that has ever happened in the history of videogames.

I can only hope that Age of Mythology gets the same treatment some day. I hated EE's new content and I hated trying to play it online because the game would run extremely weird (like it was freezing every 2 seconds) even though me and my friend have great internet connections and PCs.

Yeah, the stars really aligned for that one. And to be fair, the remaster for the first two Command and Conquer titles wasn't bad either. Although EA in their infinite wisdom seems to have decided the other Westwood RTS games aren't worth the same treatment? No idea if the remaster performed poorly or just not at the sportsball levels EA expects after FIFA.
