stuff

Improved gameplay and visuals, but art style and writing got much worse.

The gameplay of 1, 2 and Pre-Sequel are ass.
The writing of 2, Pre-Sequel & 3 is ass.
You don't get to play any of them without these massive glaring issues ruining the game for you at almost every occurance.

Beyond redemption the minute the phrase "Butt Stallion" was uttered

Wonderlands was better than 3

Modern humour

I will never forgive Gearbox for wasting away the potential Borderlands had.

>Yea Forums claims they care most about how a game plays over graphics or anything else.

>BL3 is by far the best game in the series in every possible gameplay metric
>"SHITSUX BECAUSE THEY SAID A JOKE I DONT LIKE"

Same shit with BFV. Best game since 4 and all you can talk about is black women.
Fucking schizos.

I actually liked Tales from the Borderlands a lot, but I feel that the mainline series doesn't have a gameplay format that really compliments the setting or the characters as well as it could.

Everything devolves into repetitive shooting and looting, which is fine if you're killing time with friends in muliplayer, but the game isn't balanced or structured around a singeplayer experience in a way that keeps it from feeling incredibly padded. On top of that, most story elements are just shouted at you over a radio during said shooting and looting, and so the theory was that making the shouting louder and quirkier in every iteration of the series would in turn make it more memorable.

Unfortunately, because Borderlands 3 is story-driven you can't exactly avoid the abysmal writing.

>you now remember the first time you fought the Crimson Lance
youtu.be/I3aUtew-Tds

subpar gameplay can be forgiven if the game has soul
BFV and BL3 is about as soulless as you can get, with the gameplay merely being okay

Soul. The epitome of kino, even.

It was never good but what went wrong was Randy.

Never forgive never forget, eat shit and die Randy Gearbox

>It actually used to be cool
wrong

Now compare that beaty to the new intro

The game doesn't let me ignore the story and writing sadly, so I hve to deal with them.
And the writing's so fucking bad that it brings the whole experience down.

I tried playing this game and it was way too much "walk here, do thing, then walk back"
when does it get good?

They put feminists on the writing team. Gameplay was good, but with an annoying story it got old even faster

The best borderlands is TPS by a mile. Best gameplay, character playstyles and story. I like to speedrun it once in a while, the movement makes it very technical and the character builds are fun as fuck

Lead Writer Mikey Neumann had a stroke in between games and was replaced by the Ur-numale, Anthony Burch.

BL1 was only cool because it was an empty chalice with nothing inside it, before the time the chalice started getting filled with liquid shit in BL2 and onwards. It is better solely because of the fact it never took the risk the future games made in having a stylized story.

the first was an interesting and soulful game with many issues but a lot of potential, and they simply didn't have what it takes to take it to the next level. They got close to getting it right with 2 and TPS but at that point the spirit of the games had already lost something, and instead of fixing it they doubled down on all the worst aspects with 3

This. 1 has a fantastic story, 3 is a fantastic game. 2 and pre-sequel are just all around trash. FUCK POPULAR THINGS

>1 has a fantastic story
What? 1 barely has a story at all, it's dead silent for most of it. There's no character exploration, no arcs, no denouement of an interpersonal conflict. It has a unique mood and atmosphere, sure, but it has "story" only as much as a manual for changing tires does.

The publisher. I genuenly love Borderlands a lot, even 3 (still not buying TTW on Epic), but the fucking 2K is fucking GB in the ass harder than Retard Randy could ever rhink of. Remember the youtuber arrest by 2k goons? The 3 or 4 BL tabletops that nobody asked for? The watered down 2nd season pass? The *fucking movie*? They even cast popular personas for voice actors and shove their names on title cards like shitty forgettable netflix series. Oh and also the shitshow that was BL 3 development, that granted us the plot that people know and hate.
Meanwhile there are clearly talented and passionate people on the dev team itself, especially the art team. They even supported the game best they could after launch - they buffed weapons, made proper dedicated drops, rerolls, on-level quest rewards, balanced weapons and more because the community asked for it.
The issue was never 'can i has cheeseburger' flavor text, or the fact that it didnt stay a Fallout lookalike, it was 2K executives making an inoffensive, financially safe, market pandering, stable, company value raising, and appealing to investors franchise out of a cool unique game. Epic exclusivity? 2K. TPS Dead? 2K. Narrative, tone and charcters ruined and hollow in 3? 2K. New products nobody asked for instead of properly supporting a released game? 2K. Borderlands for me is a sad story of corporate executives fucking over a game that managed to break the 7th gen shooter mold.

>v is one person
How to tell when someone is a tourist

enjoy talking to lilith 300 times in a playthrough and having to wait 4 minutes for each of her monologues, fucker

>people complaining about shotguns being weak in wonderlands in a previous thread
>just got buffed today
Gearbox is here, they could be IN THIS VERY THREAD.

I like 2. One of my favorite games ever, always good to chillax and play a bit with my friends.

Randy, release the Gaige porn now if you want me to buy Wonderlands.

and that's a good thing

>shotgun buffs
Thank god

I liked Tales as well but Telltale made the retardo decision to make this and the Game of Thrones game at the same time and since GoT was all the rage at the time, guess which game got all the good stuff and which game got shafted. I'm still salty that the devs said there would be 8 weeks between each episode and then there was a 4 month period between episodes 1 and 2.

BADASS writing
Enemy scaling

I unironicallly think Borderlands 2 is funny.

borderlands 3 sucks, full of needle guns

The new game exemplifies this so much it hurts. I just did a quest for some pirates where I was told I need to go to this new location - fine, most side missions in any FPS are usually a variety of 'Go here and do X". What I don't like is being told to go to a location and then not getting a quest marker for it because the NPCs cannot stop quipping and talking. Gearbox doesn't understand that its audience wants to shoot things, do math, and make OP builds, they don't want to listen to people do filler talk for the sake of talking.

Never

What you're complaining about has been a problem since 2.

>guess which game got all the good stuff
Uh, Tales from the Borderlands?

I thought Telltale's Game of Thrones had an okay start but it was a total mess overall and it was cancelled on a cliffhanger.

Either I'm missing something or the game is bugged. I'm playing TT Wonderlands as a Stabomancer/Spore Guy and I got lucky with a relic that upped my crit skill to a +7 giving me 70% critical hit rate and Stabomancer gives me a flat +30% and some other misc crit modifiers from other equipment so I figure I should be doing crits 100% of the time but I'm not. What am I missing?

I noticed but could tolerate it in BL2 and 3, but I think Wonderlands does it much more obnoxiously.

>the bible was the greatest story ever written
>but the small text and layout makes it unbearable to read
Same concept

Tales had like 2 or 3 major rewrites since episode 1 dropped and it gave his two emasculated 'heroes' in Rhys and Vaughn.

It was never that great. B1 had a unique artstyle and kind of fun gameplay. People found the humor funny at that point too.
Either way, the gameplay becomes really repetitive towards the end, especially if you do all the sidequests. And then you are greeted by one of the most dissappointing endings in gaming.

The franchise never evolved past the first game, B2 is literally the same game again, the same humor again. The novelty of the gameplay and humor had already worn out by the end of the first game. I beat B1 and quit B2 two times because it's the same repetitive shit.
B3 is more of the same again. Who plays this shit?

I believe it functions by increasing critical chance BY 10%, not TO 100%. In other words, your crit chance is doubled.

What are talking about christ cuck?

>Game series is about niggerillion of guns
>No new manufacturers since 2 (and I don't count Bandit a new since it
s just a reskin of S&S)
>Eridian weps are gone
>No new gun types
>Every legacy manufacturer is still incapable of making every gun type
>Anshin isn't a gun manufacturer
If you're going to make a random gun generator a main selling point, then at least do it right.

Attached: 1523665417771.jpg (225x225, 5.4K)

B2 made the series iconic, but ultimately the series was carried by memorable setting and characters. Jack almost singlehandedly carried 2 and TPS, and was one of the main draws in Tales from the Borderlands.
B3 is pretty much a wet fart with polished gameplay.

BL2 did everything you could do in a borderlands game and had more than enough content. visually it looks great and doesn't really get dated due to the art style, and the comedic sense of the game isn't too over the top. There was really no where left to go after that game and everyone that played it felt "complete", no more borderlands needed.

I know some wags on the internet compiled a list of unique and legendary weapons and gear for every Borderlands game, has anyone started or done this for Wonderlands?

There are already a ton of manufacturers. On top of that wonderlands has new gun manufacturers and changes to all the old ones.

First game was out there and weird, strange world, strange characters.
Second game they tried to turn the knob higher.
repeat for each game

>It actually used to be cool
Borderlands was never cool you zoomer fuck.

Reddit

BL2 is the only Borderlands game you really need to play, after finishing with it, everything else feels very repetitive

>What went so very very very wrong?
flanderization dial cranked up to 11 by 2 but the game itself was ok enough to numb that feeling
after pre-sequel they not only broke the dial but they also got pozzed to fuck and back

People only liked BL1 because it was a looter shooter with split-screen couch co-op. It was quite alright for that. Terrible solo experience.

Hell that era of couch co-op came and went quick. Really liked me both Army of Two games in that same time frame.

>Reskin of S&S
none of their legendarys are good nor fun to use

>dude 2 and 3 are the same as 1 lmao
What a shockingly wrong opinion.
Eridian weapons were absolutely awful in 1, good riddance.
