That's because the PC port was the usual console-port shite;
the control scheme being adapted to drawing gestures with the analog stick in real time was shite;
the dual language option was untested shite (which would cut the audio short or let the scene run long in silence because Platinum couldn't be arsed to set up their game to have locale-specific scene timings);
and finally the floating-on-top picture-in-picture hack was utter fucking die-in-a-trash-fire-for-thinking-this-was-ever-possibly-acceptable-you-goddamned-fucking-nimrods SHITE.
The Platinum 4 has to be one of the biggest let downs in all of gaming. I don't know why people don't call it out more, hell I don't know why people don't call out Platinum's recent decisions more it's almost like they've been.... forgotten........

Shmups have died down in popularity so it makes sense. Hell just last night some user asked me "what makes DOJ good", which is insane someone needs to be told that.
Nintendo actually had a remaster of TW101 ready to go but Platinum wanted to self publish the game and funded the publishing of it through Kickstarter Kinda shady they Kickstarted a game that was ready to go instead of just letting Nintendo handle it and then Kickstarting Project GG but whatever. Basically Platinum got the full rights to 101 while Nintendo got the full rights to Astral Chain which they both used to co-own.
I'm not buying bad games just to support a company. I fucking love shmups and Sol Cresta just sounded horrible. Too fucking long, ugly as sin, game breaking bugs when it released, jewish dlc, expensive
W101 is a pretty good game if you learn how to play it
Problem is, you only really figure out what youre doing near the end of the game
And replaying it is a huge chore because of all the bullshit story sections, cutscenes, QTEs, slow platforming parts, the whole level where its just red and blue walking around talking to each other, etc. One of the least fun games to replay

Nintendo allowed them to make W101 a multiplat instead of being a nintendo exclusive, as long as they pay the marketing and sales themselves. Hence the kickstarter.
