So Much This

literally git gud

Really? It only took me 100 hours to completely finish it

I got gud and notice that dungeons only have 5 room sets what now? It's copypasted and boring

Is this a joke? A film is 1.5 to 2 hours long.
I read a book in an afternoon.
100 hours is about 6 months of playtime. Nobody deserves to be forced by a game company to take that long to finish a product

If you dont play games thrn go away.

in 100 hours you can literally finish fromsoft's entire catalogue and jerk off a few times too

maybe video games just arent for you
stick to netflix and your romance novels

>I read a book in an afternoon.
must be a shitty book
>100 hours is about 6 months of playtime
more like 6 days lol

>Nobody deserves to be forced
No one is forcing you.

Yeah, there’s way too much fucking nothing in this game and most of it is copy/pasted. Exploration feels dull and unrewarding, since most of what you find isn’t applicable to you.
If I have to turn on a podcast to stave off boredom while I play your Souls-like, then you’ve done something wrong.

>100 hours
>six months
I work 50 hours a week and I still have 170 hours in.

It does hurt my replayability for sure. I love going back and replaying DS1 or BB everyonce in a while and since the worlds are more linear everything I need is relatively close by and not much of a detour. Elden Rings world is so fuckhuge I dont want to replay it and go through all the catacombs, evergaols, churches for Tears and golden seeds. These are all spread evenly throughout the whole map so you cant just start a character and go like in past souls games.

>Elden Rings world is so fuckhuge I dont want to replay it and go through all the catacombs, evergaols, churches for Tears and golden seeds
With NG+ you dont have to

>He plays NG+
Cringe

I'd gladly take 20% or so less content in exchange for far less boss reuse

You don't read books you larger

>take my time exploring and constantly doubling back for things I remembered I saw earlier as I progress
>end up with 108 hours for first completion
>start a new character
>speed to areas important to my build
>finish in 20 hours while still beating all sharbearers
Love this game, unironically. This is how you do open world design. Explore everywhere to become familiar and then pick and choose for subsequent playthroughs.

Seriously how many fucking misbegotten warriors do we have to fight.

Fucking this
The game is quantity over quality in the worst way. It’s boring.

>Nobody deserves to be forced by a game company to take that long to finish a product
ER is 30 hours for all the good bits. No need to play more than that.

Misbegotten Crusader is kino tho

>WAAAAH WAAAAAH THE GAME I PAID $80 FOR FROM MY MINIMUM WAGE SHIT JOB IS TAKING TOO LOOOOOOOONG
>I SHOULD GET A MAXIMUM OF 10 HOURS OF CONTENT PER $10 ANY MORE IS TOO MUCH VALLLUUUUUUUUUE
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STOP MAKING ME LOOK AT FANTASY VISTAS AND DISCOVER NEW AND EXCITING PLACES

Game Journo is a malignant tumor on the armpit of real news.

Are you a zoomer? Because when I grew up a game had to last about half a year, because I only got games on christmas and birthday, which are rather evenly spaced.
I never understood that attitude. What is so bad about enjoying a game and taking time?
Maybe you should go back to your movie games and cowadoody setpiece 4 hour "fire-and-forget" bullshit.
Also, what kind of books are read in an afternoon? Even a fast reader won't read a book with over 300 pages in an afternoon, unless it's some children's book with a huge font that amounts to like half the word count of a normal book.

I got 100% achievement on 118 hours and I didn't even start achievement hunting before finishing the game twice. game is too short

>I am forced to consume
I mean this could be a false flag but there are actually people who really live like this. Gotta stay up to date with the trends and stuff.

Triggered

>Nobody deserves to be forced by a game company to take that long to finish a product
Good thing no one is, huh?

>only
Bro you have to admit that is a loong time for a first playthrough, especially compared to previous souls games

stop no-lifing games my man
It ain't good for you

This, the thing people need to understand is that there are two ways people will play this game, same as skyrim or botw: the first playthrough of pure discovery, and the subsequent playthroughs where you streamline your progression to the places you know you need to be for your build.

Elden Ring has almost unquestionably the best fast-track for people not wanting to waste ten hours on the early game slog in Greyoll, some of the best gear for each type of build can be accessed from the open world, and if you know what to do you can have Somberstone 1-9 in hand and boost a legendary weapon beyond any semblance of balance for your level in no time. The game is constantly throwing speedrun tools like sending gates that skip right to Raya Lucaria being in what I felt like multiple separate locations, trap chests that send you to the capitol form the weeping peninsula, etc.

The game's never been so easy to speedrun, but dipshit game journos just want the game to end so they can work on their next Horizon puff piece.

and yet you can't even tell me I'm wrong

>feel like I'm burning out around 80 hours
>take a week long break
>get to back to the game and enjoy it again
Whew that was hard.

Not really, my first dark souls playthrough was about 90 hours

> wow I seriously hate having all this content for a price of a video game that is usually half the size

Attached: 1528569840560.jpg (720x720, 55.81K)

At least with all the larval tears and purchasable upgrade mats it's easier than ever to completely respec into a different build
Certainly makes new playthroughs less daunting and boring

Why do people complain that they get more product for their money? What kind of mental illness is this?

Attached: 1639387408545.jpg (936x1024, 55.04K)

>so much this
Reddit

It usually takes me like 200 hours to finish a character in path of exile and I finish atleast one every 3 months. 100 hours is like the tutorial.

Shorter, more replayable games anyday

>yeah man how dare they not chop Farum Azula and the Haligtree into two DLC expansions
>I should have to PAY to see Nokron!

Never been a stronger sign that Game Journalists are just mouthpieces for western corporate dev, spitting this garbage out. It's clear as day western devs feel threatened by a product with such explicit Value and want their little rag outlets smearing the idea of "too much videogame" as they go on chopping more of the cosmetics out of their full retail battlepass vehicles to sell you for premium currency.

Seriously, the extreme breadth of content isn't the only thing, it's the total lack of anything we can call "monetization" beyond the standard/special edition of the game.

the 100% is just really fucking easy to get this time around
Bloodborne I platinumed in like 70 hours as well

this was definitely what bloated my playtime on my first playthrough, I'm doing a second one right now and I'm at farum azula with 40 hours in contrast to my first character which had 90 hours clocked in by the time I reached that point, I didn't skip a single optional area or sidequest but I did ignore every single dungeon

You deserve to have your wallet molested by the rapists at Ubisoft.

>6 months playtime
Thats 30 minutes of playing a day. Find another hobby

Honestly, How?
I felt like I explored everything on my first char and finished dlc and all bosses. That was mayber 60h
That was also without a guide.

If you like open world with filler content Ubisoft shows more like your speed.

NG+ is where the open world came in handy to me, visiting whatever places I wanted to polish up my already finished build was nice.

>That was also without a guide.
Sure thing buddy. You also didn't tell us if it was your very first Souls game or not.

I've have more hours on deus ex and dishonored than dark souls 3 because those games are really replayable. Inflating you game length is not a good design choice. ER is quantity over quality

And who the fuck mentioned ubisoft? I wouldn't touch their turds with a ten foot pool

>you played this game that shits all over everything Ubisoft has made in ten years
>you also just told me off using their name
>n-no U-Ubisoft

You Be Soft and I'll Be Hard and we'll see which one of us splatters first, Amigo.

Who the fuck cares how much about replayability? Who actually replays that many games? Like I have a few core the stalgia games that I’ll probably replay 20 times before I die, but that’s just because they really enveloped me. The idea that anyone cares enough to play the average game more than once is weirdZ

I did play Dark souls 3 before it, does that make that big of a difference?

you would if you were the western devs getting mogged who are buddies with the faggot who wrote this

I got the gold needle from the swamp and was about to give it to the guy in the shack but he was sussy so I gave him a left hook to the jaw and he turned into a dead bug. He keeps coming back but I don't trust him. Should I give him the needle?

4? One in the peninsula, one in festival, one right before you go to the north snow area, and one in a dungeon?

If they cut out Snowfield and the mountaintop, around 50% of the minidungeons and terrible locations they might have had enough time to actually flesh out the remaining stuff and have way less waste of time garbage content in here. Would've been neat.

I feel more that I've ripped Fromsoft off by getting the game for only $60. So much cool shit and content for such a price. No wonder other devs are bootyblasted.

>does that make that big of a difference?
Obviously.

I'll take long replayable games instead thanks.

ER is filled to the brim with low quality copy/paste content that only exists to pad the open world much like Ubisoft games. I can imagine how you’d feel the game is too long if you did any of that garbage.

The real “core” of the game is maybe 10 ~ 20 hours.

Beyond abysmal taste
Sure I'll spend 100 hours where maybe for 50h I'm actually really enjoying myself over a tight, well structured 20h game

I didn't say I replay just any average game I find. If it's fun I want to replay it, do different strategies, different storylines, builds, etc. You know have fun with the game I bought and get my value out of it

This seems pretty average to me. I'd go anywhere between 70-120, depending on what level I close out the game. DaS1 was more like 70 because 70 is about as high as you need to go to beat the game, but Elden Ring genuinely feels like it's pushed the meta a little past the old 120 line, you need a few more points in vig and str for pure survivability regardless of build.

WAAAH, WAAAH, WAAAH!

nah everything besides bleed needs a buff, and bleed should not be nerf'd. I am playing the game right now and it's easier playing bleed than it is magic unless you go full spellblade/sorcerer.

list them then

must consoom, complete asap, brag and enjoy next product.

I've spent 300 hours in ER and feel sad cuz there's nothing to do for me anymore. I don't understand that retarded complain considering how fucking dead industry is now on new game releases. And out of all people there game journos are suppose to know that in the first place. So this article just shows how incompetent these faggots are

>HURRY UP AND FINISH VIDEO GAME
>I HAVE SO MANY OTHER VIDEO GAMES I NEEEEEEEED TO PLAY
>NEEEEEED TO BECAUSE I PLAY VIDEO GAMES AND TALK ABOUT THEM AS A JOOOOOOB
>WOE IS MEEEEEEE

what level is overleveled for malenia?

inb4 1

Filthy weebs will excuse anything as long as their darling japsies make it. There is no fucking difference, yet you gullible retards will eat it up.

He is referring to hours played, not soul level

probably 140-150 ish if I had to guess
Though I have done her at 130 and 100 so it's hard to estimate

I was unclear, but in the 70-120 statement I meant hours.

Honestly, I find that my hour count and my level count are usually pretty close, it's on average just a little less than a level per hour for the whole playtime.

is 130 the new meta? I hit 120 really feeling like my character was still incomplete, and that 10 levels would really round things out.

Quantity over quality. Shit game. That is exactly the opposite of what Souls games were like. Fuck Miazaki, Fuck Martin, Fuck From.

Attached: 1580324155009.png (376x475, 172.32K)

why would you care about meta

He signed up for that pre order deal where you only pay 5$ up front for the game but once it launches they send people to your house to force you to play it to completion at gunpoint.

BASED BASED BASED

Attached: map.jpg (806x744, 199.42K)

Pvp fags seem to have decided on 150 but I felt like 140 was already excessive as I was near the hard cap on all of my primary attributes

I bet you didn't even blush, posting a misrepresentation like that

It's true. But so was DS3. By the end, I'm just bored. Same old shit again and again. DS1 and 2 were the perfect length.

If you want a decent amount of pvp in the endgame you have to match soul level to the meta in order to matchmake with them

I just want to be able to get one guy every now and again

>The real “core” of the game is maybe 10 ~ 20 hours.
Hilarious

It's a valid point. Open world was a mistake so they needed to fill the world with vapid garbage that made it artificially longer instead of unique meaningful content. I'm absolutely disappointed that great bosses like Astel were reused and for what purpose? Kind of takes away from the questlines. 'Godefroy' is disappointing garbage too. Worse than DS2 at recycling shit.

>Yeah, there’s way too much fucking nothing in this game and most of it is copy/pasted.
sounds like you never played open world games. Compared to some ubi shit this is nowhere near copy pasta level, moron

Elden Ring has too much content.

Attached: 1646635257494.jpg (852x852, 129.76K)

no such thing as as game being too long. There is however a game having pacing issues which in ER are pretty glaring

Id rather slit my wrists than try to do anymore pvp in this game

It's all so tiresome, from the shitty takes, to the idiots that post screen caps here, to the idiots who reply.

The problem is not that it is big but that it is boring. It lacks soul. The gameplay is too grindy.
>1000+ hours in Warframe
>250+ hours in The Witcher 3
>250+ hours in Divinity:Original Sin 2
>250+ hours in Pathfinder:Kingmaker
>200+ hours in Cyberpunk 2077
>40 hours in Elden Ring and dropped it out of boredom
I don't know what people see in this game. There is no story. The gameplay is grindy as fuck but is not fun(i'm saying this as someone who plays grindy games like Warframe). I know that cus of covid there are no games out but fuck me if i'll play this Korean MMO grind fest with no story attached.
