in the arcade games player one is always leo, devs were to stupid to figure out if the game only uses two buttons you can use the others to chose which turtle you are. Ubisoft did it so when ever you started a new game you selected the turtle and were stuck with them the whole playthrough, digital shitclipse locks you in as leo

the 2003 games did bad so they relinquished the rights, ubisoft picked them up made 2 shitty games a remake and a port and relinquished them, activision picked them up made a ton of shovelware for the 2012 series gave redfly half the time and 2 thirds of the budget they would have needed to make a decent arkham clone, and gave platinum the same budget as they did for korra to make mutants in manhattan and demanded it have a ton of replay value which is why the missions are random that was their solution
now all future games will just be nostalgia bait beat em ups and rereleases because every other game was either trash or undercooked.
