I've replayed 1 and 2 so many times that I'm not sure I'd really get anything out of the story/nostalgia aspect. DESU strictly in terms of shooting I'm not sure if remedy will be able to match max payne 3, the stuff they've put out recently is not on the same level as that.

3 actually handled that aspect well. Free aim maintained pinpoint accuracy and it was the meat of the game if you were playing it right, zooming in with ironsights was more situational.

It's a legit question as to wether they will feel obliged to remove the towers from the skyline, wether they will be fine leaving the game as a snapshot of a world that no longer exists or if they wish to maintain the illusion that the game could be going down in current year New York

I really hope they manage to keep the timelessness of the games intact, things I'm going to be extra critical on is

There were barely any cut scenes at all, the graphic novel filled that role for the most part

whether or not it's set pre 9/11 they probably will just omit any cut scene or comic angles that show the towers.

The comics are kind of a weird thing as far as a remake is concerned. They're timeless by nature but it begs the question of why bothering to even do a remake if you're going to be completely bound to every minute by minute beat. A lot easier to take a hacksaw to it if they were all ugly 6th gen cutscenes. I will be surprised if they do new comics.

This game scared the shit out of me as a kid. It was the scariest game I played as a kid and loved it. Those cult levels creeped me out but the nightmare levels traumatised me.
