Filtering has nothing to do with buying the game or not; when shills go on about a new release and ask "what's the matter, couldn't handle our AAA focus-tested product with all the edges and corners knocked off" I cannot help but wonder for the sake of the human species.

The last Borderlands I was excited about was 2. The last one I bought was TPS. 3 looked like a writing dumpster fire and was on EGS so long I actually no longer gave a shit enough to get it when it came out on a real platform. Nothing about Wonderlands excites or interests me because nothing in the marketing or reveals demonstrates a substantive improvement in gameplay or writing.

I even fucking liked Assault on Dragon Keep. It was a bit funny and on top of being fun it was self satirizing about the annoying bits about Borderlands 2.

So when you find an apology note, or a fully modeled classroom that says 'we will not kill beloved characters for stupid shock value and push the most obnoxious characters in our cast' 50 times on the blackboard, I'll give it a second look. For now I wait for it to go on a deep sale and reassess then.

It's the Pre-sequel 2. Not horrible, but not great. Notable for being the first BL game with a character creator. You get 2 out of 6 skill trees to choose from but that's it, though each one has two action skills to choose from so technically you have 4 abilities to choose from at any time. You get spells instead of grenades and they're actually fun. The jokes and references are all centered around general fantasy tropes and fairy tales. Honestly the only cringe part so far is the goddamn valley girl zombie that won't shut up but that's just one fairly short level.

Wait for a sale or pirate.

borderlands has become one of my favorite series. this game proves it doesnt even need plot progression to be good. bl3 remains my favorite and i bought the season pass already for TT. the jokes are ripe cheese.

didn't think they could go any more woke than bl3 but they really outdone themselves, still playing but with voices muted and ignoring everything besides the shooting and looting.

I hate everything about the game, except the character progression. Normally I’d say the gameplay is serviceable because it’s basically bl3 but something about wonderlands feels clunky in a way bl3 didn’t
