oh boy i can't wait to find out what my opinion on elden ring is going to be and what all of the arguments i'm going to parrot for the next 20 years are.
Yeah...I'm thinking he's over
this long man = good shit has been real tiring for a while, I don't know why people even take this guy seriously anymore after promising and hyping up his witcher critique series for literal years, only to come out with bloated, long winded recaps of the first two games interjecting with "I like thing" or "I don't like thing" every now and then
>Unironically posting resetera caps
So he's basically a Yea Forumsedditor with a YouTube channel?
What are you gonna do about Anderson apologist?
I'm gonna not reply to ESLs like you
>I'm gonna not

Huh
deathwing? i thought he got killed in cataclysm

Cope joseph gave Elden Ring a 10/10 its a masterpiece rating, no one cares what resettrannies like
I like watching the video essays specifically because they talk about such minute details. It's nice to remember the little quirks of the game here and there, and it's funny in the way that those dumb "Everything wrong with" videos are about movies.
Anyone actually using this stuff as serious reviews or criticism is a braindead moron. Always been that way.
ok

Dragons!
>Perturbing
>Supplanted
Let me ruminate on the irony of a pseudointellectual retard criticizing the critic for not being high brow enough for him.
came to post this too
Alright you got me on that one. You’re still an apologist.
He sometimes makes good points, but I don't think I've ever seen one video of his that I 100% agreed with. His major problem is how he misses the forest for the trees and gets this narrow tunnel vision because of that, like his critique of Mario Odyssey that doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
>ERtrannies can't defend their own game so they resort to FUCKING RESETERA
lmfao
you put 200+ hours into a 6/10 game
Joseph Anderson is equivalent of the guy who thinks saying "Why didn't they just fly the eagles to mordo." Makes him sound smart.
Can't believe this guy is a Sekirochad. Maybe he's actually based after all.
Haven't watched it yet, does he still autistically rant about single issues? He's like the anti Matthewmatosis, he'll go on and on posting examples way past the point instead of being concise and insightful
TL;DR - Not like Sekiro 0/10
>so they resort to FUCKING RESETERA
as opposed to linking ecelebrity essays?
>does he still autistically rant about single issues?
yeah, it's the same general nitpicks or non-issues that people here complain about, except stretched out ad nauseam. if you don't already agree with him, the video probably won't do much for you.
>Haven't watched it yet, does he still autistically rant about single issues?
I also haven't seen it yet, but that's what J-son does every time. That's the frustrating thing about him, he's sensitive to the small things and is even capable of making some good points, but then he completely misses the big picture.
Sekiro is the most mechanically impressive and disciplined game that Fromsoft has ever developed. Please don't shit on it.
I agree with some of his critique but some of it’s stupid. If you didn’t bother to check out Weeping Peninsula before going past Stormveil you might be retarded because going past Stormveil is very obviously the intended way to go.
>Sekiro is the most mechanically impressive and disciplined game that Fromsoft has ever developed.
not really. it's a low effort AA game where everything is balanced around a single playstyle. it's very sterile, but it makes up for it by being well refined.
Pretty much this and how butterfly woman and Elden beast mind broke him to the point of saying (multiple times) that his first playthrough is now ruined.
You didn't even watch the video, he complained about elden beast for like 2 minutes
It's silly to bring up the budget. It doesn't matter if it's AA or AAA, what matters is what they produced. Also, it's true that Sekiro isn't concerned with builds and what have you, but that single playstyle is laser focused and extremely disciplined in execution. You can make any Souls game or Elden Ring unbalanced with the right playstyle, but Sekiro requires a commitment to the game's mechanical design. I can understand people disliking Sekiro, but the game has objective qualities that people should be able to appreciate.
>what matters is what they produced
yeah, and they produced a 15 hour game with fun, but ultimately shallow combat mechanics, that you're forced to use without any other options.
it's really easy too, there are more iframes in sekiro's moveset than any other fromsoft game, and your primary iframe move (deflects) doesn't even require you to take spacing into account like rolls do.
I'm a complete scrub so it wasn't a 15 hour game for me. I just really appreciate what they accomplished with the game, both mechanically and in terms of aesthetics. It's a bit unfair to compare it to Dark Souls because it isn't apples to apples, so I believe many went into this Fromsoft game with warped expectations. Unfortunately, I don't believe they will be iterating this franchise any time soon, which is a shame. Sekiro is a phenomenal game that I believe is very misunderstood.
Really? Because I'm pretty sure he kept using footage of that fight multiple times to the point of even apologizing for bringing it up so many times at the end of his sentences for even more time to froth at Elden Beast.
>Yea Forums resorting to agreeing with trannyera posts in order to cope with negative ER coverage
lol
lmao even
>when he just had to list all the pointless stars in Odyssey or too many examples of flurry rush glitches or Dark Souls 3 hitboxes
Hamsterson is only good for sleeping aids
I'm not. Sekiro is my favorite of the bunch.
>but ultimately shallow combat mechanics,
Disagree. Despite having no build variety, it has far more depth compared to any other Fromsoft game.
>Despite having no build variety, it has far more depth compared to any other Fromsoft game.
No it isn't. You just deflect attacks until their stance bar depletes and then press the QTE stab button. Every now and then you'll have to do a QTE mirai counter. Wow, so deep.
>trannyera shills
>Yea Forums
pick only 1
To be fair, Elden Beast is a shit fight to end the game on. Radagon would have been fine, but apparently that wasn't enough. The funny thing is, all they needed to do is add Torrent, nerf some attacks, and fix the camera, and it would have been a decent mindless spectacle fight to end the game on.
Deflecting is only one part though. And it's far more interesting compared to roll spamming endlessly until you find an opening to do one hit, and then keep roll spamming. Rinse and repeat. There is no depth in Elden Ring nor any other SoulsBorne game.
>and fix the camera
what's wrong with the camera? i feel like people with complaints like this are people who are so stupid they use lock on for large bosses, which has always been a bad way to play souls games.
This retard was done back when he released his SOMA and Why Horror Games Dont Scare me videos.
Anyone who still watches this fag after those is a genuine moron.
>Deflecting is only one part though.
It's literally the only part that matters. Everything else is tangential and very not-useful in comparison.
The deflect window is also pathetically easy. It gives you close to 50 frames of leeway.
>which has always been a bad way to play souls games.
I didn't use lock on for Elden Beast, but lock of is a good way to play it with more humanoid bosses and some bigger ones. The problem is that even when not locked on the camera is shit and is too close to the point where you can barely see what the hell the boss is doing.
Didn't watch
thumbs down
don't care
ayy lmao
>The problem is that even when not locked on the camera is shit and is too close to the point where you can barely see what the hell the boss is doing.
I didn't find this to be an issue whatsoever. Elden Beast has some of the most obvious and visible telegraphs in the entire game.
>Balanced around a single playstyle
How is this a bad thing?
Being given a small set of tools and varying challenges that test your ability with them is peak game design
Still bad though. If you're going to do a giant monster fight, at least zoom out a bit. Not to mention that some attacks like the Chasing Stars are very hard to avoid.
THE TOWN MADE HIM STUPID
you can literally just roll out of the way of them lmao.
>only an hour long and not eight
you call that a youtube essay? get da fuck outta here
I like how people unironically think that more is better, which is the reason why so many modern games feel overly bloated with very little focus. If anything, games like Sekiro are a breath of fresh air in this day and age.
>How is this a bad thing?
It's a bad thing if you want to play an action RPG. if you want to play a rhythm game it's fine I guess.
I just watched the vid. It can basically be broken down to:
> The exploration on your first playthrough is the best in any open world ever made
> The late game boss design is unfair unless you specifically use as much of the array of tools you are given as possible
Both things I agree with. Don't know why you retards are getting pissy with this.
Tried that, got killed eventually as they track you across the arena.
>The late game boss design is unfair
I beat them all 2 handing a greatsword. Didn't feel unfair at all, honestly.
I agree with most of his points
don't agree with his solution for side dungeons to give stat boosts
don't agree with level scaling when your over leveled
I also don't get the hate for the turtle puzzles for towers
Hadn't watched a video of his in years before today, does he always seethe this much over BotW and Witcher fans?
>Tried that, got killed eventually as they track you across the arena.
You have to keep doing it. They eventually disappear.
Reminder that he deliberately played through all of Mario Odyssey, wrong, for the full duration of his initial playthrough. For no good reason at all.
And then he somehow thought that his impressions would be of interest to the general populace somehow in spite of having played it like an utter baffoon and while completely disregarding what the game gave him.
Same. I'm honestly surprised how much I ended up agreeing with him this time around. I even share a similar sentiment with him that after Elden Ring I don't feel like playing future From games. Not unless they do something to really shake up the formula like they did with Sekiro. If they're next game is another Dark Souls but big and with ever faster bosses, then they may as well be dead to me at that point.
I'm not referring to the method you kill them, but rather the openings you receive. They end up being a hit-trade down to the bottom of your health bar vs the boss's health bar vs reading an attack, waiting for an opening, then hit, dodge the counter, repeat.
He's a huge retard who laser focuses on shit almost no one cares about. Reminds me of cinema sins.
How about you just type out your thoughts like a big boy? That's an alternative too.
this
now here's a real retrospective
youtube.com
>How about you just type out your thoughts like a big boy?
Why would I engage in good faith with someone who links youtube essays to describe their entire argument?
Did he finally give up on his shitty 5 hour witcher videos and go back to making his usual stuff again? It feels like he's been working on them longer than mold man has been working on his movie and it brought his entire channel to a halt.
