I watched 4 hours of his 5 hours long essay. I think he says a lot of relatable and comprehensible things like the story and level design but he also fails hard when it comes to bosses, I can't really elaborate much into it because I'm really tired but in short, I just think he put way too much focus in how much he hated the 'gitgud-ers'. I'm glad he got so invested into the story though.

yup. i think it comes from a place of genuine insecurity from his part but i liked his creative, ''casual'' solutions. also his game footage is hillarious when you pay attention to it. in general his assessment that the game doesn't need an aesy mode because it already gives you all the tools (it has been stated before by others) you need is the correct one.
i think he's 100% spot on on the thematic and story stuff

I don't know if it's just his style, but I find his tendency to weave a poetic narrative about your experience playing, or to describe combat as a "dialogue" you're having with the game, leads him to overstate certain points in an attempt to say something new and profound.
No one is really special for doing anything except enjoying life as much as they can :)

That IS a smart design choice. I never summon for bosses but my friend's first time playing Souls games are always in coop with me. I don't feel like we had different experiences and we still talk about them on the same level exactly like Miyazaki intended. We almost always end up liking the same bosses because difficulty is rarely the main reason to enjoy them. I enjoy the struggle of the first time, some might not, it's okay.
