Why do they take so long? Other, smaller studios can get their shit translated and imported in smaller timeframes. Even when they get a mostly finished script and game handed to them like with Ao and Zero, they still take ages to come out.

It's primarily turn-based. The action combat, like webm related, is just for softening up the overworld monsters first before going to turnbased, or kill them if they're too weak and you don't want to bother going to turn based just so you could fight them.
