>Solve the murder >Expect this to be only the first act and gears are going to shift to the merc union conflict built up the whole game >The game ends
What the fuck? You get a starting objective, learn about the world building on the way to completing it and then the broader objective comes into play. This is how every rpg ever is structured, it made no sense for the game to end here
the merc union conflict came to a head outside the whirling in rags. Did you somehow miss that entire part?
Dylan Peterson
>expect anything from communist games
Daniel Green
I thought this too until I'm like 3 hours in, then it becomes obvious the case is gonna be the whole game.
Levi Morales
Not sure how he could, given that it provides the backdrop for everything in the entire game. Almost everything important is connected to the union disagreement.
Solving the murder was a bit...ehh. I did not find the conclusion satisfying at all, but the union disagreement and the shit that follows at the end of the game was pretty fucking awesome.
Nathan Mitchell
I thought the confrontation was just rising action
Liam Sullivan
How? That is the entire conflict. What the fuck did you do to resolve it?
Jaxson Ramirez
It is a fine ending for the story, just disappointing because the game is so good that you want more. But near the end of the game the balance is so out of whack you can swap around clothes and just basically pass most checks.
Anthony Sanders
I really don't care if the murder mystery had a flat conclusion because the phasmid made up for it.
Landon Kelly
it's actually a game about finding a giant bug the murder is just filler
John Hughes
I killed the meercenaries, I thought the company would send reinforcements after that or at least scouts since the union was blocking radio transmissions mentioning them.
Kevin Campbell
If you think that was a cliffhanger, don't play Kingdom Come
Benjamin Harris
I wouldn’t say it was a “cliffhanger” just that it ended prematurely
Gavin Hughes
Joyce is the one who has to take care of that. Put it like this, your initial objective is to solve a murder. The twist is that you find out the murder is at the center of this big conflict between the mercs and the union. Your real objective is now to stop this confrontation, nominally by solving the murder and finding the real culprit to cool off the mercs. The confrontation is the climax. Finding the murder is the falling action and ties up all of the loose ends.
Nicholas Campbell
the story was already happening before Harry woke up so it's not like the union and merc conflict had actually anything to do with him. You get stuck in the middle of it, things go bad, and then you continue trying to solve the murder as Revachol eats itself. Harry has an arc, Kim respects him, he wins the day and gets to keep his job while also discovering a new species. It's a good ending. The union thing was never going to be concluded by the end because that's not why Harry and Kim are there.
James James
I knew I was never going to solve the union situation but I still felt like there was something unsolved about Harry himself for me, that the real reason I feel the ending is unfinished.
Gabriel Ward
Did you get the dream?
Jackson Howard
you expected something that takes over 30+ hours to be the first act?
Liam Cox
I really really really liked this game for what it was but I wish that there was just...more to it, I guess? More sidequests like the working-class woman's missing husband, more scenarios to explore, more detective work to do outside the main quest. I get why the game is what it is though
Cooper Flores
I’ve played longer games
Cameron Torres
I get you but the studio who made it never made a game before and had been making art in other mediums since 2007. It's an amazing first game and one of my all time favorites. I can't wait to see how they expand on this for their next game whenever that might be.
Jace Morgan
>Communist game leaves you hungry and unsatisfied What were you expecting?
Hudson Russell
IIRC they said that one of the ideas they're workshopping for the next game is playing as a pregnant woman, which will inevitably make Yea Forums seethe if true. I think it'd be a cool idea to talk to your baby in utero for advice, but...
Thomas Jackson
Yes but by the end of it Harry was still pining for the girl, maybe I chose wrong was there a way for him to resolve his feelings?
Leo Williams
I don't think the point was that he stopped pining, I think the point was more that you find out what he thinks happened and who she actually was. Then in the Trial you can kind of determine how Harry feels about it going forward.
Wyatt Bennett
I had heard the devs were commies but I expected it to be reflected a lot more frequently and hamfistedly, but you could always say communists are stupid or evil or something in a dialogue option, which I often did
Hunter Brown
The game didn't feel all that communist until it began to say "Oh boy I am so smart for choosing the calm and rational option instead of launching in an extremist tirade". After that I just chose hyperliberalism and picked up the perk that pays you after you pick hyperliberal options in dialogue. I genuinely wanted to be balanced and not take sides too early but they forced my hand by making centrism a joke.
Jonathan Lee
centrism is a joke. pick a side coward.
Jordan Moore
The ending of this game sucks so bad. It's a shame because it's like a solid 9.5 otherwise.
Camden Ross
>Play game >Wake up drunk >Call the police station to report I lost my gun and badge >Everybody laughs at me >Gameover >Uninstall
Brandon Bennett
I did, I went full anti-tax ancap. If I can't be balanced and well thought-out because the game will not take it seriously, I'll play a charmer character. I do however think that being staunchly radical is bad in almost every situation and that compromise fixes most issues.
Liam Rogers
The developers are marxists, the communism they make fun of is usually stalinist. They either don't understand that one leads to the other, or are just coping. It's hard to really work out.
Leo Watson
Do they know that the main gripe Marx had with capitalism (i.e. Surplus Value) has been solved ever since hourly wages became a thing?
Henry Carter
another disco elysium thread? Ay caramba
Cameron Ross
I usually went for racist and anti communist dialogue options(because that’s how I am in real life), Kim called me a racist fascist at the end of the game even though I was relatively tame in my opinion
Hudson Sanchez
Lots of people not knowing shit these days, it would appear.
Dominic Richardson
Just level volition bro
Wyatt Anderson
I just wanted to be incredibly contrarian to the devs. Since the opposite of a communist is a businessman with actually some charm, I went with that. I also rolled incredibly high strength so I knocked the nigger supremacist the fuck out.
Easton Lee
When I got to the end I was wearing the “fuck the world” jacket because I thought it was funny, i was actually surprised viquares(or whatever his name was) had unique dialogue for that.
Levi Perez
It makes every ideology a joke. Just pick centrism and own it. The point is that it's a discussion, it's not just >thing good or >thing bad I went full Moralist, and even though I agree with a lot of the japes and criticism, it still feels pretty damn good when Kim's backing you up in the trial for fighting for the status quo. >INCREMENTAL CHANGE! YEAAAHHH!
Dylan Nelson
Sorry user, nobody believes in the clown ideology concocted by your trust fund baby meme "philosopher" that divorced spirituality from the flow of history.
Jaxson Sanders
Zoomer ass weirdo
Hudson Morris
The devs are Marxists, and but difference between some of the more liberal young communists you would think of vs the actual communist soldier from the revolution Also, the in-universe Commune of Revachol is supposed to be based on the short-lived Paris Commune of 1871.
>Since the opposite of a communist is a businessman with actually some charm If you're talking about Joyce, she's actually the centrist. The ancap NPC would be the ultra-rich reality distorting man in the shipping container.
Jose Miller
No, Joyce is definitely an ultraliberal, by her own proclamation and by her rhetoric. She's just not a living parody like Harry. Most of the ideologies have at least a reasonable rep and a extremist caricature. For moralism, that's Kim and the Sunday Friend.
Ian Jackson
What the fuck was up with this guys voice actor? He easily gives the worst performance in the whole game.
>Kicked a nigger that was looking for a fight in the face >Don't support the idea that the workers should be able to just own the fucking company >Pick up a coffee mug >Yeah, you're a fascist!
I-what?
Joseph Bennett
I actually really liked Joyce, I don't get the hate the game has for her. She's well spoken, intelligent and clearly can fend off for herself since she seems comfortably wealthy.
Gabriel Mitchell
>There are still people who don't realize that all of Harry's politics are just thinly veiled excuses as for why his life is so fucked up
Thomas Miller
The only thing I don't like about the ending was the Cryptid, finding an old man in a world that left him behind was kino.
Jose Cooper
So the devs support me pirating the game, right? I shouldn't have to pay for things I don't want to pay for.
Matthew Thomas
genuinely curious as to what you think surplus value is
Luke Bennett
They aren't gonna care user. You're on an anonymous image board, trying to find ways to stick it to them is really embarrassing. Just pirate the game and play it.
Wyatt Miller
It's also the first time Harry says out loud what the fuck is troubling him. Him coming out of the denial phrase is the biggest personal breakthrough his character could make.
Angel Murphy
most of the va's arent actual va's, they're either the devs themselves or literal who theatre kids that the devs are friends with. in that sense i think he's serviceable.
Jaxon Campbell
>video games as """art""" I want this meme to die violently and have its corpse raped by the loathsome dungeater
Landon King
I don't know why you think the game hates her. She's portrayed in a way that could be interpreted as actually caring about the situation, which is pretty positive. The negative comes from how she uses you while having no faith in you at all.
Gabriel Adams
Plus, she's one of like, two characters who actually HELPS harry instead of just outright dismissing him as the alcoholic lunatic he is.
James Harris
This is the only thing that made the devs being commies apparent, Kim will give that judgement no matter how self restrained you are. But it’s only at the very end of the game
Carter Cook
>proud of their ignorance
Liam Ward
>NNNOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST THINK FOR YOURSELF YOU HAVE TO PICK MY SIDERINO OR BE MY ENEMY THAT I CAN REGURGITATE VERY SPECIFIC TALKING POINTS AT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO ENGAGE WITH NUANCE
Who the fuck are you quoting? I didn't type that anywhere in my post, you schizo. >loathsome dungeater >eldentranny opinion discarded.
Isaiah Howard
The game doesn't hate her. The people in the city hate her. It is clear if you talk to her she is generally reasonable, the hatred is everyone else.
Jaxon Hill
I only played the game like a month ago, I thought the current voice acting was good. Sounded believable.
Jackson Gutierrez
>drunk, bloated fat sack of what can hardly be called a "cop" without his gun or badge shows up to you, a decently wealthy businesswoman >you give him no faith, but elect to help even if, in the end, it gets you what you want I mean, I wouldn't have faith in Harry either.
