>finds salt in the mines >wages war on glenbrook (???) to seize the mine so they can sustain themselves once they move on to hyzante
if gustadolph wanted to crush hyzant why didn't he just ally with glenbrook?
>dude we found salt down here proving their religion is full of shit >theyre going to freak the fuck out over this since it's all a lie >hyzante would probably respond negatively and provide enough provocation to wage war on them >crush hyzante together with the might of aesfrost and glenbrook combined
i understand that he probably took issue with the gentry system in glenbrook but it seems like a far lesser evil when slavery exists within hyzante
He got too greedy, basically. The game doesn't flesh it out well but Gus came to power in a dog-eat-dog society where he couldn't trust anyone, not even his own family. Allying with people is difficult for him because he's so suspicious of others' motives. This is also shown in how the game treats Liberty decisions. Dialogue where Serenoa says something about how he's suspicious of others improves his Liberty convictions
because the guy in his position 30 years before tried to ally with glenbrook, then glenbrook got tired of the war and called the alliance out

I’ve been playing Triangle Strategy recently and I’m up to the point where I’m fighting Avlora in Glenbrook, but I feel like I’m losing patience with the game.
It feels like they really want you to just grind every time you beat a chapter and it kills the pacing for me, especially since there’s no way to actually get powerful or get ahead of the power curve.
You’re completely shackled to the power curve to the point where levels basically become redundant as a concept, and you’re expected to go do at least 1 (probably 2-3) mock battles between each chapter. The Time-To-Kill on enemy mobs feels arduous like you’re always just chipping away at them (and again, none of your characters can ever actually become powerful, only ever as powerful as the chapter) and the Developers fucking love having Ambush Reinforcements come in without any warning or advance notice, the exact lesson the FE Devs learned and stopped doing.
I’m enjoying the story, I’m loving the characters and the choices. But I’m having to fight the desire to just put the difficulty down to Easy and give up on the gameplay tedium.
Angel Parker
>if gustadolph wanted to crush hyzant why didn't he just ally with glenbrook? Glenbrook would've gone against crushing Hyzant.
Landon Lewis
you retain xp if you fail so you can just kind of brute force it that way
make sure to upgrade your units too
Landon Reyes
Don't grind lol. You can breeze through with 1-2 fewer levels than recommended if you use every advantage you got. ALSO, USE OFFENSIVE AND BUFF ITEMS
>and you’re expected to go do at least 1 (probably 2-3) mock battles between each chapter nah you're not xp is given in a weird way : from what I've seen, if you're more than 2 levels below the enemy you're gotta get a level for every action you take there's no reason to grind xp at any point
Sebastian King
The golden route is even more retarded, because he refuses to side with Glenbrook against Hyzante because Glenbrook is going to use the salt crystals (that they now 100% own, so getting it back will be near impossible for Aesfrost) to simply hand it out and negate Hyzante's monopoly.
Which means now the only monopoly in town is Aesfrost and their iron/ironworking. They become THE superpower, and he goes full retard killing his own men for no reason in front of everyone else, refusing help in crushing Hyzante, etc.
William Turner
Don't play on Hard, and use your brain; keep your units in close formation so that they can easily support one another. Use statuses and Erador to mitigate damage while your offensive characters pare down the enemy numbers. Quietuses are busted as fuck and you shouldn't hesitate to lean on them when needed.
Liam Rivera
He is a power hungry cocksucker. And ge would have gotten away with his ambition of ruling entire norzelia (which he probably did in fred route) if not for him killing dragan or underestimating wolfort's thereafter
Jackson Miller
It's just laying bare the hypocrisy that's at the core of Gus' character; he talks about freedom and all that shit, but at the end of the day he's only OK with freedom if he's the one in charge.
Cooper White
That just means you go into the maps and lose, then go do it again at a higher level, the same as grinding mock battles but much longer.
I do all that, Erador gets absolutely fucked by any mages, enemy healers basically have to be bum-rushed or you’ll get worn down (since the time to kill is so high) and speaking of the current map, I played it once following from the previous- a completely immune to all status effects boss walking at me with 2 healers behind her, doing AoE damage with 500+ HP and just when I thought I had some manner of control over the situation another batch of surprise reinforcements show up and I just slowly got worn down.
Doesn’t help that the enemies do this stupid fake-thinking thing where they pause for a few seconds at the start of their turn before moving or buffing. When every single enemy does it, it hit drags on and on.
Lincoln Bennett
Use lightning on the water to stall the enemies; take out the flank attackers, then when Avlora finally closes in, have your units run away from her by running around the perimeter of the map until you can isolate and surround her. The Missed Opportunity quietus is very useful for taking out tough enemies by taking their next turn away and also making them unable to dodge while stopped.
Wyatt Sullivan
Does it even work on her, she’s immune to all status effects?
Gavin Myers
No enemy is immune to the Stop status, even bosses with immunity to "everything".
Isaiah Green
Yeah, but that is the absolute best way for him to be in charge of everything. The only resource that's needed and monopolized would be in their borders, instead of an outside source they need to conquer and defend forever.
Dominic Harris
This gane is a disappointment. It starts off kind of grounded, but by the end everyone makes choices that make no sense
Luke Butler
But they do make sense.
Ryder Green
>I’m fighting Avlora in Glenbrook is it the map with the pool in the middle ? I cleared it by bringing narve and the shaman lady ( + julio ) and bolting the water for 12 turns in a row paralysis is broken
Blake Martinez
>Woman Yep.
Brandon Rogers

>think Frani is an asshole >think Roland a pretty cool guy >turns out Roland is a not a cool guy but a big bitch
>Frani ends up being right about Roland the whole time
Why does Roland suck so much holy shit. He has so much baggage it’s insane
Isaac White
People have played through hard mode without doing a single mock battle. You have all the tools you need to win.
Lincoln Rodriguez
Roland near the end is one. There's literally no reason to side with Hyzante at all. He saw how they keep slaves, everyone points out that the teachings are BS and wouldn't bring equality and he's just like "yeah, but it would to the largest amount of people" This despite him being upset when he actually saw Hyzante
It's like they tacked on that choice just to have 3 choices. Benny's at least makes sense, but Roland's is beyond retarded.
Jace Campbell
Maybe, have they done so without losing a battle?
Because if you’re going into a battle and losing twice before you win (or even once) that’s just the same as doing Mock Battles, but slower and without money/resources.
Christopher Garcia
Frani is a fucking idiot >they're attacking the castle ! >quick, send a complaint letter he was also doing shady deals on the side but ye Roland is irredeemable
Justin Morales
Roland's choice is the most nauseous but also the most well written out of them all. We had this discussion multiple times, that guy is a fucking wimp who refuses to recognize that he is one. That + his absolute hatred for anything gustadolph + the shit he experiences if you decide to stay in capital in ch 15 is all the reasoning you need for his choice
>the most well written out of them all that'd be benedict's roland is completely retarded : in the utility ending he's fine having the roselle being slaves forever and in the liberty ending he holds a grudge because of the poor the guy can't make up his mind or is at best extremely childish
Daniel Wood
None of that suggests that he should specifically side with Hyzante. I understand him abdicating. I understand him leaving if you pick Benny. I don't get him siding with Hyzante at all.
He doesn't frame it as hatred of Gustadolph, he frames as the way to cause the least suffering. That's what makes no sense to me.
Jayden Lee
Siding with Hyzante gets Roland everything he wants: Revenge against Gustadolph, happiness and peace for the people of Glenbrook, and getting to run away from his responsibilities
>He doesn't frame it as hatred of Gustadolph,
That's less about why he sides with Hyzant and more why he refuses to side with Aesfrost. He still goes with Frederica's plan which at least lets him run away.
>he frames as the way to cause the least suffering
Because it is. Under Hyzante's rule Norzelia's common people are objectively better off than under Benedict's ending or Frederica's ending. It's just the Roselle and dissidents who suffer.
Roland's decision is heavily flawed but it makes sense why he chooses it.
As I said, he is a wimp that refuses to recognize that he is one. He frames his choice as for the good of the people but he gives 0 fucks about them as could be seen how quickly he went with fred in her route. It's all about gus but he knows that he couldn't frame it like that. His character priorities in order are 1. Fuck gus 2. Got tired of the shitheap that is glenbrook but refuses to recognize that he is also a shitty ruler 3. Doing good for people Now given the alternatives it should be pretty clear what he was thinking there. Also he is like the first one to get mesmerized by hyzante during his visits before knowing the rot, and again during his choice he doesn't ignore this rot but agrees to live with it. Your entire argument comes to the idea that roland can't compromise with something he dislikes if it helps him achieve his higher priorities
Kevin Wilson
Just a simple addition but it would help if you think roland to be that one irresponsible, retarded but extremely close friend with a lot of emotional baggge that everyone has instead of the quintessential naive prince who is infact very able when he gets his chance/matures archetype
Brody Ortiz
Because just invading Glenbrook and taking it over guaranteed he would get almost every advantage that allying with Glenbook would have had or more. He has the border, he doesn't have another enemy nipping at his heels (or that was the plan, obviously he did in practice), and he has the salt. Trying to get Glenbook to ally with him to defeat Hyzante requires Glenbrook actually being amenable to the idea, and also requires revealing that they've discovered salt crystals, in Glenbrook's territory no less. If they decline partnership then he'd be fucked. You can't just launch your surprise invasion after putting forward and offer like that, Glenbrook would be wary of him, and the chances of being able to pull the wool over the citizenry's eyes and claim Glenbrook was at fault would be lower.
Levi Taylor
>2. Got tired of the shitheap that is glenbrook but refuses to recognize that he is also a shitty ruler I dunno, he seemed very aware that he's a shitty ruler to me.
Tyler Brooks
Good evening anons. I trust you've offered your daily prayers to the Goddess?
You can put the difficulty down if you want. Grinding isn't required at all though. It is not that kind of game.
Tyler Lee
That's the worst part about what is otherwise the best ending of the main three.
Isaiah Bennett
>he frames as the way to cause the least suffering. That's what makes no sense to me. Hyzante won't stop unless you submit. Aesfrost won't stop unless you beat them. Surrendering to Hyzante checks both boxes. It basically ends the war instantly at the expense of the Roselle. It's my least favorite ending because FUCK HYZANTE, but as a war ending choice, it's reasonable.
Brandon Nelson
>ng+ pickups in exploration are the same
What fucking good is a base healing pellet to me at level 30?
Bentley Watson
Having Medina give someone 1TP.
Nolan Martin
>what the fuck was his problem? Too handsome.
Alexander Nguyen
Because Glenbrook would've sued for peace and Aesfrost is the type of greed ridden shithole America would be if if no one with the last name "Roosevelt" was born.
Justin Smith
The enemy reinforcements noise gives me PTSD.
Jack Reyes
I disagree, it's okay to lose a battle if you're learning more about how the map works and what your strategy should be. The fact that you retain everything from losing a battle suggests the devs intended for you to lose a few times if your initial read on the map isn't up to scratch.
James Gray
>Using the fire traps to one-shot the hyzante boss general I've never came so hard in my life. then solo'ing the rest few with Anna and the fire trap that's useless because it would only remove healers pretty much was the peak of the game for me, I haven't picked it up to finish because I just don't know if all the grinding will ever surpass it.
Joshua Lee
TS isn't like other SRPGs where your expected to win by having the biggest stats. You're expected to use your brain. Dunno how you got that far without it lol
For that map, just lure everyone into the fountain pool and zap the pool. You'll get free paralysis on a few dudes, chip damage on the boss, etc.
Use bulky units as bouncers and throw up an ice wall if you need to stall anywhere. Let them come to you. The objective is killing the boss, not wiping the army.
Mason Hernandez

This, mostly because of . Enemies popping up at a bad place can fuck you up so hard. I once had Anna get completely surrounded by spawning reinforcements because she was backstabbing someone (no teleport quietus yet). The fact that the tutorial lies to you about squares lighting up to warn you about reinforcements makes it worse.
>A sum to whoever fells Prince Roland!(...) >RUUAAAARR >*reinforcement* >*reinforcement* >*reinforcement* >*reinforcement* >*reinforcement*

Just finished Roland route yesterday and I actually really enjoyed it. Highlights: - If you pick his chapters, his decision to bend over and open his bussy to the Goddess' salty cock (female) makse a lot of sense. He's disgusted at the poverty and inequality that Aesfrost's 'freedom' enables. He's lost all faith in the monarchy and the corruption that surrounds it. He's lost faith in his own ability as a leader because he couldn't stop his family from being slaughtered, or Cordelia from being captured. But he still wants what's best for the most people and is willing to sacrifice the Roselle to do so. - Gustadolph and Svarog's final stands are believable. Not only is Gustadolph too proud to submit to Hyzante, he's also so mistrusting of others that he acknowledges he'd never be able to cooperate anyway. His convictions are so strong that he'd rather die. Fucking kino, doubly so because Roland actually shows some growth for once by not finishing him off to get his "revenge" - You get bro moments with Exharme in the Aesfrost invasion, but he also shows that Hyzante is deadly serious about maintaining order at all costs. You're forced to live with the consequences of your decision, there's no bail out.
Poorly written moments - If you pick the wrong chapters (e.g. not helping Roland snuff out the Royalists, not giving him up to Aesfrost, not visiting Hyzante after smuggling the salt), you miss the key moments in how his thinking begins to change. There's a nice little moment in Hyzante where people criticise the veneer of equality that the city presents, only for him to say "don't overthink it, this is what a well run nation should look like", or something along those lines. - He really does seem like a cuck in the scene where he makes his intentions clear. Also in the postgame scenes where he has a monologue about how it was the right thing to do. - Frederica shaving her head and becoming a cult leader should really have been shown. Or maybe Roland could be forced to kill her or something. Idk, make it more kino
