The reason I bought this game is mainly because it was tagged as Souls-like. I am an huge fan of Darksouls 3 and Sekiro, with a few hundred hours gameplay and 100% achievement on both games. However, this game is a huge disappointment, as it is nothing "Souls-like". My frustration is mainly on: - Everything is so colorful, which is huge distraction to the gameplay. Most of the time I have no idea what is going on since both the enemies and my attacks have such robust colors. It is as if the game developers threw in the whole color palette, treating the game like a children coloring book. - You can't start the game in offline mode (unless you turn off your internet). As a result, the whole game is desecrated with red and blue graves, which is an eye sore to me. - Weapon and skill sets are overly complicated. Most of those fancy gimmicks are pointless because you will eventually stick to the same combo or weapon sets which you are comfortable with. - All enemies, even the ones at the beginning of the game has hyper-armor when attacking. You need to play that game super defensively in order to minimize the damage taken. - Boss fight is not interesting, tedious, and not satisfying at all. Gozuki boss fight was like one of the most boring fight I had in all the action games I have played. Spammed dodge, attack, and spirit animal for the win.
Conclusion: - Just because a game has the "Souls-like" tag does not means the gameplay is similar to DarkSouls. In short, Nioh 2 is an action RPG with a bunch of artificial difficulties to mess with the players. Enemies and bosses has unnecessary high health and damage; weapon and skills are unnecessarily complicated to make the players think that the learning curve is deep. If you want a game that is hard but yet enjoyable, go for Darksouls series or Sekiro instead. >1.6 hr on record, refunded

>doesn’t like shovelware garbage like Nioh >”f-filtered!!!”
John Allen
ds3 and sekiro are also nothing like a souls-like
Jayden Howard
>Pathetic screeching about nothing Yep, definitely filtered lol. Actually based take, I would go as far as to say the only souls like is Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1.
>pepe makes fromniggers ass blasted Really makes you wonder why. That guy sticking to high stance and then bitching at us for laughing at him even though he was talking shit was glorious Because they are pathetic you farmers or they hope someone would come in and soothe their broken egos. It's always funny that the unfathomable amount of seething comes from fromniggers.
I've taken a break at the water blob boss in 1. How much of a shitfest am I in for because this shit seems like cancer
Aaron Peterson
>1.6hrs playtime >Thinks he knows what hes talking about kek. OP is a faggot, per usual
Carson Johnson
You spend too much time in menus in Nioh. Too much time looking at stats and upgrades and ability trees etc. And way too much time sorting through loot. Also the level design is weak and the enemy designs could be better. But it does have great combat.
Evan Wood
>filtered by water blob dude just use fire lmao
Charles Johnson
100% based and correct the game is not a souls-like, it only takes the label because otherwise nobody would buy it
Luis Cooper
>Also the level design is weak and the enemy designs could be better. The level design is decent, same with the enemies. Unless you're one of those retards who think that anything that's not gothic fantasy is bad.
Justin Anderson
this is what roll+r1 dogshit does to your brain any additional mechanic that improves the gameplay filters you because you turned into a little bitch playing simon says
Justin Davis
Why is this fucking game never on sale? 250 BRL since the day it launched more than two fucking years ago, come on. I played it pirated and I want to play legit but these cunty goddamn publishers don't help me. >Koei Tecmo Oh, wait. I know why. Maybe I should stick to pirating this one.
I'm not talking about the aesthetic, just the actual physical design. Just my opinion, man. Relax. I also said something positive about your little game.
Caleb Ward
Nioh fags have the biggest little brother syndrome in all of gaming. In most Nioh threads they spend more time talking about From games than they do talking about Nioh.
Samuel Evans
>Almost gets killed by basic bitch enemy by constantly spamming the same attack. Lmao If you beat Hino-Enma, you can beat any boss. Just use a fire weapon, if you have lit 3 fires around his arena and you struggle with small blobs spawning, leave it so that it can auto kill any small blobs. isthereanydeal.com/ Is a good site to track any sort of deals in general. How is level design bad though? Not that user defending it, but I never actually hear what part of it is bad. Also I would really disagree with enemy design, they are far more varied at least when it comes to the Yokai, they are unique and are depicted very closely to actual mythology. Human enemies are very samey though I would agree with that, but I don't really know how you would make generic enemies less generic.
>OP literally brought up DS3 and sekiro >N-NOOO STOP TALKING ABOUT MY FAVOURITE DOGSHIT GAME
Mason Campbell
>historical low: 30% off on Steam for 175 BRL Man, fuck Japanese publishers. All of them.
Adrian Howard
as someone that likes Fromsoft games AND Nioh I gotta say that you guys really just need to git gud. OP spends his entire post bitching about how Nioh asks more of him as a player than a FromSoft game would. Oh no, not that!
Bentley Baker
>You spend too much time in menus in Nioh. Too much time looking at stats and upgrades and ability trees etc. And way too much time sorting through loot.
A lot of this is just the learning curve. Since we're comparing Nioh to Fromsoft games, think of those tweets that got posted a bunch on Yea Forums about how terrible ER was. It was due to the fact they hadn't really gotten into a Fromsoft game before and weren't aware of how they worked. A lot of the complaints aren't unfair, but they're all about how they want to play the game as opposed to how the game encourages you to play.
The Nioh games over a lot of customization and depth which requires more investment from the player to capitalize on. A more casual game would give you a simpler system to learn that didn't take much time to pick up on and offered amazing results quickly. If you invest the time into the Nioh games, they offer a great deal back.
Offering players how to customize their character via stats is not a new thing so that shouldn't such a big deal, but weapon/armor Special Effect passive abilities are, especially since you can change them. Ability trees also add depth in not only customization in your leveling but also a larger overall tool-set for you to choose from while in action. The Loot is complicated at first since you don't know what is what. Once you figure it out, it becomes automatic and you deal with loot like any other routine in a video game.
The level design is weak in the sense if you read them as exploratory experiences. In Nioh 2, there is that aspect, but missions in the Nioh games are meant to be repeatedly played, because it's not about simply clearing a mission. It's about becoming a fucking monster in them, obliterating everything in those missions with speed and style. They're obstacle courses to test your mettle.
The Nioh games, when you dig deep into them, have only a little in common to Fromsoft games.
Based action game enjoyer, these flame wars are fucking dumb as shit. With that said, it's always fun to mock someone for lacking any perseverance and instead whines because they choose to get filtered. I suck at Jump Cancelling in DMC but I don't go around talking about how flawed of a mechanic that is.
Ryan Rodriguez
>The Nioh games, when you dig deep into them, have only a little in common to Fromsoft games. Generally speaking the only similarity is "stamina-based melee combat" and "retrieve lost experience on death".
Zachary Lewis
>awesome a nioh thread >souls FUCKING HELL SIGH NOT THIS SHIT AGAIN We got one of you faggots to stream and you people are atrocious The people who stuck around and got good love the game
Charles Edwards
Reminder that dung eaters have virtually no counter to Nioh 2 and Doom Eternal. >Nioh 2 destroys their gameplay argument >Doom Eternal destroys their difficulty argument
They legitimately can't argue otherwise because then they'd be forced to admit it's based on blind nostalgia for late 90s CRPGs and mid-2000s slavjank shooters.
Austin Long
>tea sets Wait those are more than cosmetic/shrapnel because the fucking faggot hates all my tea and throws it away? What bonuses do they give?
Ryder Carter
Based, people in these threads make it seem impossible to like both
Nathaniel Adams
>Nioh 2 Sucks compared to its pfeaudl >Doom Eternal Sucks compared to its prequel
David Ward
The only thing cosmetic in Nioh 2 is the fashion system.
>tfw love From for AC, Kings Field and a variety of other wild games they made >now whenever people say From they think I mean Souls >tfw AC is also incredibly complex and rewarding and would suit Nioh fans well if they can look past some pretty barebones graphics
Gabriel Jones
It says right there on the screen shot. A luck bonus. Money bonus. Tea Utensile Drop Rate bonus.
Isaac Collins
Simplicity is mostly useless as you'll get plenty of money selling loot. Splendor is decent because more luck is always good, but at first you really want to aim for eccentricity so that you can collect better tea sets that will provide larger stat bonuses respectively.
Asher Barnes
>make a regular enemy thats harder than the majority of bosses in this entire genre >its the yokai named "its u mad" Two nukes weren't enough
Zachary Hall
What's happened with Armored Core, anyways? People were saying Miyazaki had a new AC game coming out. Now, after ER's success, I wonder if they're even going to make new games. They're just gonna turn ER into a platform like Fortnite or GTAV.
Andrew Torres
Well currently the AC fanbase is injecting unfathomable amounts of hopium because we got a few teaser screenshots earlier this year, so hopefully that's real and From gets back to their actually good series. Although I doubt it
Gabriel Davis
Don't be a pussy, get SoP.
Carson Hill
I can understand disliking eternal despite liking other doom games, but nioh 2 is literally just nioh 1 but more and better
James Hernandez
Good evening I like Nioh 2
Parker King
hope they get it, not even a fan of AC or mecha games in general from should clearly take a long pause from souls after ER dlcs and capcom should hurry the fuck up and announce dragon's dogma 2
Cameron James
>make the colour of the grab indicator the same as the dark realm brilliant
Adam Hernandez
Like I said: >Doom Eternal destroys their difficulty argument
The game literally tells you the quickest way to defeat an enemy, lets you adjust the difficulty mid game, encourages you to use cheats to help practice your skill (helps that cheats don't disable achievements/trophies), and people still found it difficult regardless.
They'll still call it easy because a shitload of Soulsfags are still buttmad 30 years later that Ultima Underworld was utterly destroyed by Doom in both commercial success and influence on later games. Watch them claim that it sucks because the designer prefers to play it with a controller instead of M+KB despite the fact that Doom 64 is pretty difficult even with M+KB being used.
Nathan Sanders
It's true, nobody has anything nice to say about this game unless they're using it to tear down souls likes. When was the last time you saw anybody praise a boss from Nioh as the greatest of all time?
Brody Cruz
Yoshitsune is actually a fantastic boss. Most of the DLC bosses in both games are pretty high-quality.
Christian Perez
Okay I'm going to try AC next then, cheers
Ian Kelly
>got too addicted to odachis big numbers >now can't use anything else Oh god bros I want to switch weapons but katana doesn't do enough damage and switchglaive seems really complicated
how about you give me more than a single lantern fruit you little shit
Bentley Thompson
Armored Core is a mech shooter. Soulsfags wouldn't give a shit because they don't like shooters.
Oliver Robinson
Are there many people playing torii gate on dream of the nioh? Just got to dream of the wise and it's still taking anywhere between 5-20 minutes for people to join my room
