I still wont play them

no

f2p only makes them more expensive unless all you do is play color 1 Ryu in online ranked

Don't know. What I do know is that it's hilarious that people are talking about them "potentially" ripping people off with a bunch DLCs and shit if they go F2P when they ALREADY do that but you have to pay 60 first.

The only thing that Max said that may actually decide the fate of the genre is if Project League and/or Multiversus actually do well

But we still have no clue if Project L is gonna be F2P and Multiversus doesnt even have an open beta yet

I need all the costumes because I'm a whale consumer! If only you fags would dress up in real costumes instead of living out your fantasy in a vidya I'd have more fap material.

I would play fighting games if I didn't have to pay 60€ for the privilege of getting destroyed online

Yeah for 5 fucking minutes

should just be a standard 60$ live service game. all characters/modes free. palettes, music, and stages via freemium currency. Skins via premium currency/events.

I have questions about this thumbnail.
Isnt there a version of SFV that literally has everything other than the latest season pass and CPT bundle for like $30? Also isn't that $1000 in dlc/microtransactions after the game has been out for like 6 years? Also won't microtransaction/dlc/characters be higher to make up for the fact that it's f2p? Like a f2p sf6 would probably have 1/3rd the dlc and characters SF5 has now a year or to after release, but would still cost $1000+ for everything.

i miss unlockable characters, costumes and modes like in tekken 3. making every game e-sports accessible ruined fighting games

No, all you'll get is even more aggressive monetization than the bullshit that already infests the genre. Casuals will still drop fighting games after week two.

I'm beyond over fighting games' nickel and diming. I checked out after Capcom demanded that I rebought a game that I already owned (MvC3) like six months later, and it's gotten WAY worse since then. How many versions of Goku is DBFZ selling now?

their dlc monetization is already f2p-tier, but nobody plays them so without actual sales they'd probably just die out entirely like they should have years ago

Killer Instinct had the perfect business model and it still died

Here's what they need to do
Release a complete game.
It can cost $60 or whatever
Just release the game, and have that be the whole game. Take the extra year of development time to include all of what would have been the DLC in the base game.
Don't sell cosmetics, don't sell anything else but the fucking game.
Look, I fixed the genre. Oh look, I fixed every other genre too!

Youtubers don't care about you or the developers, they just love free to play becasue it increase the size of the audience that will watch their crap

They should be prices as God intended: 25¢ per match.

So you want devs to go back and sell entire new editions of fighting games for full price to $40 a year or two after release?

Capcom Fighting Jam was the end of fighting games for me. I got excited when SFIV was announced back in the day after the genre was basically dead for like a decade, but I don't know, it just lost something in the translation. Meanwhile, I can still play the shit out of some Street Fighter 3 or Vampire Savior.

It "died" because it was marketed and launched as an xbone exclusive, a terrible and dead on arrival console

By the time they released to PC and made it multiplat it was already dead

There was something like this called KwonHo back in the day. It flopped fucking hard because the actually good fighting styles were pay walled and the character customization was shit.

>Max's revenue is starting to shrivel up, so now he's begging companies to make fighting games free for him

Attached: 1576177932574.gif (480x360, 3.8M)

i bought GG strive and saw that the season pass was 30 bucks and it's making me consider just trading this shit in for something else. 30 dollars for every season pass is bonkers.

try playing DCS World
1000bux is just two planes

How about don't sell the initial release for full price, especially if they intend on selling you the full experience piecemeal over time anyway.

He probably hit his peak with all his FFVIIR cheerleading.

>How about don't sell the initial release for full price
Okay, we'll make it free. And then you can buy the later-added characters.

Actually it flopped because the netcode was shit and it was abandoned by the western publisher right after the first betas but nice try

Don't for the costume are sold separately for like $10-12 each

CHINGER

Dood will literally kill fighting games with his suggestions lmao
Never shill for something you don't know exactly how it will work out

Max is a stupid fucking moron about fighting games. He doesn't know shit and can't even competently run an online tourney.

No
I want them to release the game a single time.

The expensive things in fighting games don't actually involve playing the game. It's the cost of buying plane tickets or even just gas money to go to locals.

fighting games don't deserve to be proselytized for cheap labor.

Fighting games need to drop the combo memorization bullshit and just make it a rhythm game.

>add all DLC to cart
Who even does this? That's like saying clothes are expensive because you insist on buying one of each color that a shirt comes in, instead of being a normal person and just buying the color you like the most.

>f2p only makes them more expensive
This.

I doubt it.
Fighting game will always be niche, the skill floor and skill ceiling in the genre is insanely high, it's a genre that is extremely good at pushing away casuals.
It's not a genre that can get a dedicated, long time playerbase, there's a reason ArcSys sell their shit 70 bucks, the price of a collector Rockstar game, they're milking their fans dedicated enough to spend 100+ dollars every year for the game.

>f2p only makes them more expensive
How?
If it's f2p done right, only cosmetics would cost money.

>Was only available in the west for a grand total of 4 months

That doesn't say anything about the concept to you? Especially with a publisher as greedy as Ijji?

No they don't because doing combos can and are fun. What fighting games need to do make trails/ mission modes that give you practical combos.
UNIST combo missions taught me so much and most of them were very useful.

Fucking this, shit on Overwatch all you want but I love that I haven't needed to spend anything beyond the initial purchase and can get skins without the grind being absurd.

How do you not think that buying everything won't be more expensive when casual players aren't paying anything

DOODED

Fighting games do not need to be proselytized for cheap labor.

People do not need convincing that the genre is expensive.

Just buy them on a sale
Buy one or two that are popular on a sale, learn with it, and once you feel comfortable buy one at release

popular fighting games go on a sale as low as 5-6 usd and they still have new players playing them

buying a fighting game at release if you are completely new may likely backfire on you because you will think it will be easy but you will still need to learn the same shit and go through the same hoops of dealing with 1v1 losses and the frustration of realizing actual human beings are challenging to deal with because they usually are trying just as hard as you to not fucking die inside the game

I think they could do a f2p and upgrade to a one-time purchase premium. Premium would be similar to buying the base game and having complete access to non-gameplay affecting features/extras.

Remember when fighting games included ALL the fighters at no additional cost, you just had to unlock them? Those were the days.

Attached: mvc2-personagens-e1585092714285.jpg (1000x680, 173.46K)

You know what the dumbest shit is? Max rarely played SFV and now Strive because they get "stale", but the more devs listen to him the more they'll become like those two. He says his favorite games are like Marvel, 3rd Strike, and Capcom vs SnK, but he's actively making fighting games less like the ones he loves.

If someone made a guide to get into fighting games, I'd probably get into it. I just can't seem to figure out the full circle/half circle button press or whatever.

Unironically a bad idea.
This is what would be Best for (You), for dedicated players, but people just burn through content too quickly to have a game lasting years without additional content.
Pumping out additional content keep the player population higher and for a longer time.

>If it's f2p done right,
And when has it ever been done right, you retard? If you think it ever been before you're just too dumb to know better. F2P multiplayer 'services' has been killing gaming as a whole.

>People say this: "I'm not gonna spend $60 on a fighting game where there's gonna be nobody to play with in like 3 months. I'm not gonna pay $60 on a fighting game just to play arcade a couple times then go online and get my ass beat. "

is he right?

Attached: 1586677582471.png (1131x635, 1.13M)

Max doesn't care about fighting games, all his videos are about the animation quality and other dumb shit

>If it's f2p done right, only cosmetics would cost money.
Nigga what f2p games are you playing were they don't charge for just about everything.

No-one cares about Fighting Games which is why they're completely irrelevant and sell like shit.

Max is never right

In his latest video he's advocating for free to play games to be a norm for fighting games. I'm genuinely worried. This shill has a massive impact when it comes to shaping where the fighting games go forward. I'll remind everyone that he said it'd be cool if SFV got a Ruby Rose character, couple of months later Capcom added a Ruby Rose costume for one of the characters. There were a couple of other instances where Capcom releases lined up with what he expected out of a game.
Influencers are powerful. Max is basically the face of fighting game genre at this point. It's frightening to think how a single person being an influencer can the direction the game genre can lean towards.

Attached: I3D4ynE.png (272x224, 74.37K)

>man who has never been right about anything
>is he right this time?
imma say no

MK11 sold a fuckton and thats the MK he hates the most because no combos

Follow this expert advice and make sure you get frustrated out of your mind when you think these games are impossible to get in because you are 2 weeks and 23 hours and 59 minutes too late to get in

youtu.be/CyV7Ca5T2Zc?t=212

>fighting games have had this model for 30 years
>they are just shit now and cannot compete with old versions of their own franchises
>n-nobody wants to own a game!
Fuck off Max

Who cares? He does the same shit. Only plays a game when he gets paid to do so and goes back to whatever garbage he usually plays.

I've hated his channel and content since he was making faggot skits for Marvel 3, and I hate him even more now that he's attracted a legion of literal retards shaping a genre of games into baby tier button mashers.

when this latest hot topic of his has no impact and he moves onto the next clickbait, remember how much influence you thought he had

Ah yes, what fighting games need is Korean MMO-tier monetization. That'll save the genre.

Fighting game devs WILL heavily take into consideration Max's opinions and there is NOTHING you can do about.

yeah how can max be like this when games like strive and kofxv are selling like hotcakes right this minute

Attached: kofxv ambitious.png (1280x720, 1.41M)

Max is gonna make fighting games have no barrier of entry, make fighting games insanely profitable, and fighting game player counts will go up ten fold and their communities all over will boom with tons of new and returning players

And there's nothing you can do about it.

Attached: Devilish_dfec03_6238404.jpg (500x567, 52.58K)

The most popular f2p game ever (Fortnite) only charges for skins.

That video he put out about how the Square Enix team would play his reaction to the Remake trailer to keep them motivated legitimately made me wish he would die.

Stiiiiiill waiting for that $60 MVC2 port.

can't be max. the spic and nigger are too normal to be here. must be the fat one

You didn't read my post.

It's free on Fightcade

Like I said last thread
All of the fighting games I am interested in are already exclusively free to play because they are
1.) No longer distributed
2.) Were never distributed digitally
3.) Modded to hell and back by the community in order to be playable on modern hardware

So it doesn't make a difference to me. I'm just gonna keep playing what I play. Have fun with the new stuff I guess.

>wait five years after game's launch
>get definitive edition of the fighting game with all characters and skins for 40$ on steam sale

Attached: 1617358448162.jpg (246x250, 7.27K)

Fighting games are scams don’t ever buy them day one or for full price. You’ll be getting a half finished game, if you want the rest then buy each dlc. They do it on purpose. Then they’ll just put out the ultimate edition 2 years later. I’m tired of it, back then you got a complete game and if you wanted more characters or stages you unlocked them by playing, not forking over more money.

I can’t think of the last time I unlocked a character in a game. Look at the rosters for games like tekken 7, dragon ball fighterz or street fighter V when they first came out…motherfuckers didn’t even have guile, broly or lei wu long in the base roster for each of there respected games and those are MAJOR popular main stays, nah you had to buy them all. It’s crazy

Exaggerated false dichotomies won't save you from the fact that this genre is ALREADY nickel and dimed to death.
Look at a game like GBVS and tell me Japan isn't overcharging for games that underperform.

yes or at least I'm not willing to pay full price for fighting games anymore. bought strive on PC for 30 and im waiting to do the same on kof.

Too bad Max and his #freemvc2 cronies don't know that.

>buyers remorse

This garbage f2p discussion is so fucking stupid. You expect the same people who cant even make good online and lobbies to create a f2p business model that wont nickel and dime you the same way they do with dlc characters?

Literally worse than casuals. Retro only boomers make me fucking sick. Pathetic rose tinted glasses wearing faggots. All of you.

Project L will save the genre.

Attached: copium.png (400x388, 70.74K)

I wonder if riot are paying people to push the discussion about F2P to advertise their shit game.

Take everything a Youtuber ever says about a game with a grain of salt. You always have to pay close attention and keep this fact in the back of your mind. "How can this benefit them?". If a genre goes F2P it means it will get many more players at least for a time at the start. Which means many more people will be looking up videos. Fighting games or really any genre going F2P is great for a Youtuber if all they care about is an influx of viewers. I'm not even saying going F2P would be a bad thing, just that you should constantly be aware of the motives of "influencers".

>don't buy fighting games day one it's a scam
>new edition comes out
>lol I'm not paying $50 for this a new one will just come out
>final edition comes out with all DLC and characters
>buy it
>WTF I'm getting wrecked online why the fuck would I play this?
