Do you have a single fact to back that up?
What a shame.
>media looks at current trends and events and predicts the general direction things are headed
>HOW DID THEY PREDICT THIS???
I fucking hate you people. Go watch some Simpsons and see if it can predict when you learn some basic media analysis.
Warren Spector literally thinks that you couldn't make this game again today because right wingers are too dumb and media illiterate to understand fiction
Unfortunately our reality is alot worse because Deus Ex didnt have half the peasants in the game smugly going, ummm this virus isnt manmade mmkay? trust the science sweety :^)
What a shame....
Warren Spector is an imbecil
It wasn't trying to be a prediction though
The premise was just taking all the popular conspiracy theories of the time and making a setting where they're all true
The fact that it looks nearly identical to reality 20 years on is pure coincidence. Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies about things
Based coincidence user
>Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies about things
your brain on leftism.
leftism, not even once.
>Why yes, I understood the themes of Deus Ex, how could you tell?
it doesn't though but whatever
fiction became reality and reality became fiction. It's not the right wing's fault we live in clown world.
People need to understand that in the 90's X Files came out and EVERYONE was obsessed with conspiracies and the government being corrupt. It was cool to be a skeptic all of a sudden. All the NPCs and political normalfags were skeptics. You couldn't actually get them to answer WHY they believed certain shit. They just heard it on the TV or read it in a book. So it must be true. Just like nowadays. All Deus Ex did was take many of the same things people were talking about IRL and on BBS Message boards and chuck them in a blender.
It just so happened that the craziest shit someone in the 90's could come up with turned out to be true. The same way the crazy things Alex Jones said turned out to be true. But far less deliberate. But it doesn't mean Warren or the rest of the Deus Ex team were based. They just had the exact same views as the majority at the time. And just like all NPCs changed their views with the times without any critical thinking or understanding.
>Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies about things
This is absolutely a 0/10 bait, but it actually worked on some brainless retards, so I have to give you a +1.
>Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies about things
How can you sit there with knowledge of the last 70 years of human history and say that shit?
Iran/Contra
Missles in Iraq
Hunter's Laptop (That CNN just confirmed existed after denying it's existance)
Fucking hell how do you do it? This is actual alien thinking to me. How do you sit there and see something happen right in front of you and pretend it doesn't exist?
...
>pure coincidence
>Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies
Hilariously crafted bait
Does this mean I don't get the job?
And it isn't?
>widespread mechanical augmentation of humans, effectively allowing them to be super-human, being phased out in favor of nano-augmentation
no
>man-made pandemic composed of flesh-devouring nanomachines that requires constant treatment to not die from
As far as can be seen covid probably isn't man-made; it doesn't kill people like the Grey Death does; and vaccines aren't ambrosia since they don't stave off death, just lessen symptoms. Plus everyone now doesn't want to take the vaccines, which is the polar opposite of Deus Ex's world where everyone is literally dying for it
>secret societies have created genetically-altered monsters that are essentially aliens in Area 51
as true now as it was back then (no)
>USA in the middle of a civil war that has split the country up into major warring factions
no
>US-funded international peacekeeping force that exerts control over the entire world
I think the current situation in Ukraine shows how farcical that idea is.
>bases and mass drivers on the moon delivering goods
no
Damn, I can't believe how realistic it is!
Warren Spector shilled Underworld Ascendant so nobody cares what his opinion is.
Talk about a fallen giant.
only poster in this thread that doesn't need meds
>>widespread mechanical augmentation of humans, effectively allowing them to be super-human, being phased out in favor of nano-augmentation
Genetic engineering is more likely than mechanical/nanotech augments but it's functionally the same thing and isn't that far off becoming reality.
>man-made pandemic composed of flesh-devouring nanomachines that requires constant treatment to not die from
>As far as can be seen covid probably isn't man-made
Lmao
>secret societies have created genetically-altered monsters that are essentially aliens in Area 51
The ayys were just a bit of flavor and never plot relevant. There absolutely are powerful institutions that pull the strings of global politics, they just don't need to be 'secret' like the Illuminati when they can do it all in plain sight (see: the WEF, Blackrock, etc)
>USA in the middle of a civil war that has split the country up into major warring factions
In the Deus Ex timeline it was an attack on the 2nd amendment that triggered the conflict. This has been a hot topic in US politics for years now and has yet to truly reach its climax.
>US-funded international peacekeeping force that exerts control over the entire world
>farcical
Lol lmao lol
>bases and mass drivers on the moon delivering goods
I don't remember anything about that in Deus Ex?
You also missed out
>Mass surveillance
>Centralization of information under a tiny amount of massive corporations
>Abuse of emergency powers under false pretenses
>AI technology reaching uncontrollable levels (also hasn't happened yet, but AI tech is constantly advancing towards something we can't anticipate)
>As far as can be seen covid probably isn't man-made
Yeah man those scientists in the labs at Wuhan just looked at some petri dishes and the virus appeared.
The mass driver thing was from reading newspapers. Page's company basically sabotages another company's launch from the moon and craters a town in Nigeria or something.
I must have missed that one
Although the corporatization of space is something we're already gradually seeing right now
He's right. That's the same reason every RDR2 thread is about how Arthur isn't racist enough and why every WoW thread is about transgenders. Every right winger likes to bitch about "politics in gaming" but can never shut the fuck up about whatever cultural axe they have to grind.
you wont get replies because this board is full of children and troons grooming children
>Genetic engineering is more likely than mechanical/nanotech augments but it's functionally the same thing and isn't that far off becoming reality.
Saying it's possible in future is like saying Moon is a documentary now because it features stuff that may be possible in future. Ie. it isn't. Hard sci-fi is still sci-fi.
And both you and are implying that Covid is man-made. Is there a reputable source on this? I've tried looking briefly but not found anything. Regardless, it's not a lethal plague designed to kill off as much of the population as possible, like Grey Death - nor is it being used to control those higher ups by dangling the promise of life-saving treatment. It is, as has been said multiple times on here, a nothingburger.
>The ayys were just a bit of flavor and never plot relevant. There absolutely are powerful institutions that pull the strings of global politics, they just don't need to be 'secret' like the Illuminati when they can do it all in plain sight (see: the WEF, Blackrock, etc)
So not like the game, then? "There are powerful organisations" isn't exactly a Nostradamus-like prediction, since I'm pretty sure that was as much the case back in the 90s.
>This has been a hot topic in US politics for years now and has yet to truly reach its climax.
Again, "may happen in future" =! documentary.
>Lol lmao lol
Not an argument. I forgot all the UN peacekeepers patrolling major population centres in the western world.
And
>Although the corporatization of space is something we're already gradually seeing right now
Not to the extent of space mining. Space mining, mass-drivers etc. as a thing are a non-starter for numerous reasons. We will never get that far.
You and he both realise that was shitty bait, right? Obviously people on both sides of the divide realise that the government lies about shit and does heinous shit all the time if not kept to account. Look at the Iraq War, the Tuskegee Experiments, etc etc.
>Dad is home
based
>Obviously people on both sides of the divide realise that the government lies about shit and does heinous shit all the time if not kept to account.
covid-19 response declines that assertion
I'm glad that you can only sum up everyone's attitudes by their response to the Most Recent Thing, and forget everything else.
Like the people saying "booing Russia for invading Ukraine, when the USA invaded Iraq you didn't say anything!" as if the Iraq war wasn't massively controversial, generate tons of protest stuff, satire, and so on.
I don't get why something has to be 1:1 for you to even consider parallels.
>heh Deus Ex said there would be a deadly virus and biotech companies using the vaccine as leverage to gain power but in reality there's a harmless virus and biotech companies using mandatory vaccines/mandates to gain power ITS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CONSPIRACY THEORISTS BTFO
>Again, "may happen in future" =! documentary.
So we can't discuss these issues until they've already happened? What kind of retard shit is that?
the conflict in the middle east lasted 20 years
What’s happening? HELIOS! ICARUS! Don’t LEEEEEEAAAAAVE MEEEE!!!
But my vision isn't augmented.
I'm not saying that these things can't or shouldn't be discussed. If you'd tell me where I did say that it would be appreciated. The impact of genetic engineering, the control that big corporations have over our data, the general overreach of private companies and the shrinking of government power, surveillance, these are all important issues.
I'm saying that saying "Deus Ex is a documentary" is retarded. Just because there are broad parallels (a global pandemic, corporate overreach) does not make it a factual work. Considering the amount of stuff it has that is /x/-tier conspiracy bait (all the secret organisations are real! Majestic 12 runs the world government! They're trying to turn into computer gods and deliberately kill everyone with genetically engineered plagues!), lumping those in with actual issues that are true to life is stupid at best, schizo-enabling dangerous at worst.
every conspiracy theory from the last 50 years came true
I think you're missing the point entirely. As already pointed out, Deus Ex wasn't TRYING to predict anything. It wasn't some schizo trying to warn us of the future that came true. It was trying to be a cartoonish depiction of every popular 90s conspiracy rolled into a single fictional setting.
If something is trying to make predictions and gets 50% right and 50% way off, then it's pretty shitty prediction.
If something is trying to be batshit insane and ends up 50% true to reality then it's probably a hint that all that 'insane' conspiracy theories of yesteryear probably weren't as insane as once thought, and the same is likely true for the conspiracy theories of today.
When they say it 'wasn't supposed to be a documentary', that's true. It literally WASN'T supposed to be a documentary. The fact that it ended up more real than most documentaries anyway despite that (even if some parts are still WIP and looming in our own future IRL) is what makes it so interesting and terrifying.
I prefer using the exploit that lets you trigger the Dark Age ending without having to power up the generator's in Page's level.
He has lost his way
shut up commie
i could see the tech being accurate in the 2060s, maybe even the 2040s. 2020 is a lot different than 2000.
>schizo-enabling dangerous
can't stand people who just view their words as a mean to an end, pointless and impossible trying to discuss anything with
twat
in da fresh
>Literally only right wingers are stupid enough to think the government lies about things
holy shit nigger stop drinking the tap water
PURE ENERGY
Hold on, I have to drop something...heh heh
the best kind of bait, the kind that gets every retard who bites it to become the punchline
a bit heavy handed at the end but it got the job done all the same
I don't know why I found this post absolutely funny
> If something is trying to make predictions and gets 50% right and 50% way off, then it's pretty shitty prediction.
If something is trying to be batshit insane and ends up 50% true to reality then it's probably a hint that all that 'insane' conspiracy theories of yesteryear probably weren't as insane as once thought, and the same is likely true for the conspiracy theories of today.
Damn
what a lack of confidence in your own nonsense that you throw the “damn” at the end yourself
He's baiting and you took it hook and line
Rightoids don't realise that their problem isn't the left, it's Americanism.
Fuck I want more games about conspiracies, secret technologies etc.
Deus Ex was one of a kind
nah its legitimately just jews. no one else gets into usury, no one else is defined by parasitism
Got me.
Number one: In 1945, corporations paid 50% of federal taxes. Now they pay about 5%.
Number two: In 1900, 90% of Americans were self-employed. Now it's about 2%.
Ever wonder why big car companies pay 2% tax, while the guys on the line pay 40?
It's called consolidation. Strengthen governments and corporations, weaken individuals. With taxes, this can be done imperceptibly over time.
The entire executive branch is hand-picked. Nineteen of the last twenty-three US presidents have been members of the Trilateral Commission.
Did you ever ask what it's for? The surveillance? The police? The shoot-on-sight laws? Is that freedom?
Corporations are so big, you don't even know who you're working for. That's terror. Terror built into the system.
Yeah, it'd be cool.
>I don't support the current thing
That doesn't make you superior.
rightoid deus ex "fans" will never acknowledge that the game rightly pinned the blame on capitalism as much as government
