I've never seen anyone from other gaming communities willfully asking their genre to become F2P just for the sake of "numbers".
Is the FGC really so desperate?

Attached: 12237817745321.png (1296x881, 1.57M)

No, this guy is just plain stupid.

You can already play SFV for free, the truth is fighting games only appeal to a small amount of gamers, and 90 percent of fighting game players are clueless retards too. Most people in SFV are stuck in gold.

While I don't agree at all and hate f2p, fighting games might be the genre it makes the most sense for.

you can get doa5 and 6 entirely for free with creamapi and the games are still dead

The Fighting genre is incapable of doing anything remotely different or new.

It's a pretty common last-ditch effort to save a dying game.

Once project L comes out the FGC will start begging for street fighter 6 to go F2P

Fighting games are gay.

F2P would unironically be a better business model for fighting games

Just because it works for Project L doesn't mean it'll work for other games.
Also, let's be honest, the primary reason people are excited for that game is because it's a League Of Legends fighting game.

>Is the FGC really so desperate?
No
Max does not represent the FGC or the wills of it
He's a fucking faggot who doesn't play any of the games

I can somewhat understand it but we've had multiple versions of F2P fighters that still don't have crazy numbers anyway.

There have been attempts from companies to make F2P versions of their fighting games.
They all flopped.

Fighting games already have all of the f2p milking while also asking for 60 upfront. Battle passes, lootboxes, login bonuses, cosmetic microtransactions, season passes, etc.

You literally have it worse than non-gacha f2p games have it, you just don't realize it.

I wanna call my friends to play fighting games online but they're not willing to pay for it, they can't even know if they'll like it because they're not willing to pay. F2p is a must for fighting games, just make story mode, characters, costumes or battlepass or whatever paid and be done with it. Good thing that Multiversus will be f2p and I will be able to challenge my friends.

Multiversus is not a fighting game, you dumb fuck.

Fighting games are the exact kind of genre where a F2P model would unironically be ideal. In fact, just like said, fighting games literally are Electronic Arts F2P tier in that they'll still suck the money out of you in the exact same way as a F2P game with character, costume and other DLC purchases, but have a shitty retail barrier of entry on top of it.

The primary content of a fighting game is characters they sure as fuck don't have anything else, fighting games have not changed in any fundamental way since the early 90s. In the case of the majority of players, they only ever touch a handful of characters if only one character that stands out to them. So the other 15+ characters may as well not exist to them besides being opponents.
The same formula as assfaggots, give the game and a small core roster for free, trial the others on a rotation, then sell all characters individually. That would at least put a few more asses online, padding the lower end of the playerbase so that it doesn't go from 2000 scrubs to a dozen ultra master diamond rank guys after a month.

F2P is a good argument for the sake of popularity, he's right with that.
What he's not talking about is the implications about the game qualities. SFV already sucked like it did and it's a full-prized game, imagine if they cut its budget for the sake of "F2P".

Who is king lf shills shilling for now? Who laid him to say fighting games should be f2p?

Every fighting game dev studio on the planet is waiting for project L to drop to see how they make it work.

The smart ones will study riots aproach to a f2p fighting game and copy it.

Aren't fighting games already shamelessly cheap with mtx and dlc? Might as well be f2p

A million times this. He larped about loving fighters and showed up late to the party not even being an 09er. Hes a fat nosed grifty Jew who will say anything for donations. He wasnt and never will be a party of the FGC or represent it

he says he's tired of every fighting game dying in 3 months

Max is a retard who's never tried to play a popular F2P game seriously

bruh get a fucking life. seriously

fighting games have the most cancerous DLC model. F2P is the right direction. SFV actually did it best where you pay $5 for the base game on sale, and then play a few hours to unlock the character that you want to play.

I honestly wish I could physically harm him
He doesn't play any game for even a week

Just in time for the f2p riot fighting game because of that he’s gonna bank on it mark my words and be praised for it.

CHINGER

You bitches you are just coping. But it's happening anyways.
Project L will get millions into fight games.
Japanese developers are already talking about the idea of F2P model.
A bunch of gacha specialists, the kings of the F2P swindle, are making their own fighting games (GBFVS, DNF Duel).

It's the future, it's happening. And you can't do anything about it. SFVI will be the first to include a F2P version.
H0mtg

Main issue is the longterm engagement as very few players keep going after the first weeks. It is a difficult thing to do as most of the games seem to be focused on keeping the fighting community happy rather than search ways to expand their reach by improving on the engagement level from the most casual side.

Fighting games going F2P will just make it sure they will double down on DLCs and stuff like lootboxes.

yes the fgc is that desperate. smash bros and wwe games mog the shit out of traditional fg's. they do need to be free. like a league of legends type f2p. it probably makes more sense in fg's then in any other game genre.

That's 2 months and 3 weeks more time than what he spends playing them until the hype goes down the and the money stops coming

>tfw he stop doing week of
Use to not anymore rip

arcsys makes games that come out and die, nobody cares about the games you listed
another fgc secondary who doesn't know shit

CHANGER

>having ever watched this faggot at all
Keep that to yourself.

>Maximilian Dood
Wat nou?

>I bet you at one time watch someone that you now hate
Keep that to yourself

Call me a jaded retard, but we already have a microtransactions and a shameless amount of season passes
Might as well save me $60 just to try it instead of having buyer's remorse after the fact
That being said, smaller games should still charge upfront as long as they're complete

>budget for the sake of "F2P
What budget? It's just two 3d characters with s slightly animated background hitting each other? Yes, it's a lot of work...but compared to Capcoms other games...?

I don't really mind F2P stuff. I think KI did it decently, we just need someone to improve on the idea without trying to drain people.

This board is fucking retarded lmao

Is he retarded? that would certainly kill the genre.

you're telling me furio from the sopranos is a streamer??

Attached: Federico-Castelluccio_jpg.png (618x410, 365.54K)

Exactly. These games already sell a thousand skins as micro dlc might as well convert to f2p.

Let's turn fighting games into a F2P microtransaction mess on top of DLC. The genre is dying and I doubt this will help.

dead genre thats not even fun to play

Attached: 1649261855149.png (1212x712, 469.54K)

They have already.

>Let's turn fighting games into a F2P microtransaction mess on top of DLC.
Yes

that's already the current state of fighting games

do FGCtards have stockholm syndrome or what

>mfw I don't care about this because every single FGC game on PC outside of SFV has crackable free DLC

pleb stuff

How is this guy not called in his obvious bullshit? He was NEVER a staple of the fgc in any way and then once YouTube took off he somehow managed to get a fanbase despite no real achievements to warrant it. That aside i decided to check out his new pod with JWong since I find Wong entertaining at least. Instead maximillion talks for 75% of the pod and what's worse is he talks as though he's this deep insider who was speaking to game devs about inner working since the early 2000s. This fucking guy didn't even go to the majority of fighting tournaments and when he did he was thought if as a bit odd and I never once saw him speak to any big wigs or devs in anyway other than maybe an awkward hello and saying he liked a game. I'm convinced he's just making up shit and rehashing old ass message board rumors which he then claims were conversations he had with game devs way back in the day about games that never released or long lost alpha builds he was told about and saw. I just don't get how this guy has managed to build up a base without a single pro calling him out on some of the obvious bullshit.

when will FGC niggers understand that most people don't have the autism required to "git gud" at fighting games

I think they should be 75 cents like at an arcade

I remember when this guy was the first one to get a tactical nuke on mw2
I'm getting old

Attached: grandpasimpson.png (1439x1079, 982.47K)

You know nothing about video game development, Begone.

Current day fighting games are basically f2p tier games already but for some reason they still charge $60 for every new release.

>small base rosters compared to previous games
>multiple seasons at $30 a piece to expand said roster
>some games have cosmetic skins you can buy for $$$

Every suggestion dood has ever given is usually to the detriment of the game/genre without him realizing it

Adding to my post, the genre is oversaturated. You have a lot of active games that are still supported by players like DBFZ, Tekken 7 and SFV but we still are getting like 2 or 3 games per year. Some like GBFVS are getting support still from their companies. We got Strive last year, we got KoFXV in February, we're getting Dungeon Fighter in a couple of months and SFVI is coming. Its pretty much a situation like mobile or GaaS where a lot of popular shit is still active so good luck winning the audiences from those games.

Frame data tuning/balancing by itself takes more effort than your Boo Haunted House map of reused assets
You are braindead.

>I just don't get how this guy has managed to build up a base without a single pro calling him out on some of the obvious bullshit.
blame Harada

His pipe dream of some major franchise like SF or MK releasing as F2P with all characters available is laughable. It's like he believes that somehow that would mean they'd make more money than they would have based on cosmetic sales, as though if you don't pay 60 for a game you'll instead spend 100 dollars buying costumes and stages.

Isnt brawlhalla f2p and much more popular than any other fighting game that isnt ssb? Not that i care about fighting games anyway

no cap i see sf5 and tekken 7 on sale all the time but never buy them because it doesn't include all the dlc characters which is like 80 dollars. it's no difference if it was f2p, at least you would get other people to play your outdated genre and try characters and can play to unlock characters.

Subhumans
I know people who are "into fighting games", purchase every single release, watch Max, but can't take a round off me or tell me what a frame is

This is def a big factour. I'm debating on if I'll ever return to fighters now that I am old and can't dedicate the time. I can only pick 1 and it'd prolly be DBFZ which I have years of tech to catchup on meaning it'll be another decade till I try another fighter.

Well let's ask ourselves...did it work out for Dead or Alive 5? I guess since the option for the full game was still there so I wouldn't say Max is 100% wrong.

no one gives a fuck about max
post the big man of Yea Forums instead

>play a game for 3 days in training mode doing useless shit
>jump in for 1 day
>stop playing altogether for 2 months
>comes back and loses TWO rounds
>he seethes and says the game is dead
>then declares the game is dead making all the newfags go and say "HHHHHHHHUHHHHHHHHHHHH FIGHTING GAMES ARE DEAD?????"

I have been playing fighting games for the past year and their popularity is right now at the highest point, you can literally find matches instantly in some games, this nigger is just a dishonest fag who wants to do anything to get out of fighting games and become a variety eceleb streamer

>Frame data tuning/balancing
>Huge budget
KEK

>RTS die because the game is about autistic mastering and the only thing you can blame a loss on is yourself
>fighters die because the game is about autistic mastering and the only thing you can blame a loss on is yourself
Ded gaem genre's are dead because it combines the two things casuals fucking hate: No free dopamine injections, and having to realize they suck at video games. Simple as.

Only similarly, only reason MOBAshit or Soulsshit hasn't died is because it's missing one of the crucial components, namely, the only having yourself to blame part, because MOBAshit's a team game, and in Soulsshit you can blame your summons or rationalize it as "That boss is CHEAP".

>effort = budget
sheeeeesh
good luck out there

There will be good F2P fight games. And there will be jew F2P models. It's the risk of the model. But worth if we get massively popular and good fight games.
>"M-Muh secondary"
As always. The fact is the most gatekeeping fanbase. No wonder so many are against the F2P idea.

90% of souls players just grind to put level encounters or use the most broken setup possible after going online and looking it up.

but yeah you are right. fighting games will never, ever be popular online.

it's a 1 on 1 franchise with zero excuses, it's "gatekeep"y by nature
you're talking about "the kings of f2p swindle" making their own fighting games while listing two games that nobody cares about

you are a retard, call it whatever you like

NOOO I WANT TO SPEND 60 DOLLARS ON A GAME THEN 40 MORE DOLLARS ON CHARACTERS

Fighting games require more effort to make than huge budget games by the fact you need far more knowledge to make them good, and you need far more thought put on changes to make them viable

they are created with fine details in gameplay and inputs that are completely missed on other games, and you don't understand because you don't even understand what gameplay means and probably buy anything that's "immersive", "cinematic", "high end graphics", do you even know how to know if a game has good gameplay? you don't know shit
