If you like dungeon crawlers, yes. You can just play 4 if the ps1 games are too old for you. The movement is extremely slow but you get used to it.

A bit after dark souls 3 came out, people talked about it being like dark souls 1 on Yea Forums and I ended up liking it more than dark souls 1

I would say yes, but it's a bit of an odd experience. The exploration is pure kino, but the combat is kinda jank. Mostly stemming from the fact that it uses the old stamina system where you needed to wait for the bar to charge to deal damage verses the modern system of consuming some of the bar to act. I would say start from 2 (USA 1) or 4 (Forgotten city) I personally think 2 is the best in the series, but it's probably going to come down to the type of exploration you enjoy. in order you have,
1- simple descent down a dungeon
2- complex interwoven map similar to the start of DS 1
3- wide traversing of the land, has the slowest start but picks up the further you get into it.
4-big dungeon full of mini dungeons with some rather interesting puzzles, also has the first real FROMSOFT poison area that I remember oh god help.

There is also the Sword of Moonlight program, a King's Field maker tool, there is/was a community for it that made some games like Trismegestus and Mothera if you want some more stuff, but it may be somewhat difficult to track them down as I think the site that was hosting them might not exist anymore.
