There's a certain part of the game with a really cool environment made of brush strokes. Square's shitty AI upscale blurred it and makes it look like random airbrushed pixels.

Just play it on emulation, or wait for a good fan fix.

I will probably play with encounters off.
It's been a while since I played CC, but I remember it wasn't really challenging...so maybe now with encounters off (and no materials / money grinding) it will be callenging. Maybe.

Yeah, but unfortunately the game itself didn't use though high-res backgrounds. Playing through that part on the emulator was torture because you either had to leave everything extremely tiny, pixelated and jittery, or increase the resolution and see almost literal shit all over your screen.

Different skill set. Ports and remaster are far more technical and not as artistic. You don't need an idea guy to use an upscaler.

The backgrounds don't bother me too much and I really like the new character models. The ONLY thing that looks shitty is the framerate so I really hope there's a day one patch.

The remixes are separate from the game, user. They are extras.
