Crystal Project

How is everyone enjoying Andrew's game?
Let's discuss this masterpiece of a little indie gem.

>Favorite Jobs
>How many Crystals you've gotten
>What mount you've unlocked

Don't focus too much on adventure, finding crystals should be your highest priority.

Bump.
Please talk about my game.

I don’t know who Andrew is

Just finished it. Final boss was underwhelming. Am now doing zone cleanup.

Anyone know how to get to the chalice of tar?

Either soar east from the castle ramparts, or (easier and faster) use the Dione teleport, climb the trees to go up a bit, then head west.

Says right there in the screenshot. Andrew Willman.
Canadian autist who made his own dream JRPG with his philippine wife.

I feel like I have aspergers because I've spent more time than I probably should just filling out the map like a mowing a lawn.

Same, its triggering my autism that I have to choose between cleaning up the open sea map or hunting for deep sea map scraps.

Nice thing is the game was just patched to make map discover a bit more forgiving at least for cliff edges. I've only found like 2 deep sea scraps so far.
Difficulty spike going into the ocean is fucking nuts. Sharks just destroy me with water AoE.

Just unlocked the Summoner class, but haven’t tried them out yet. The boss before the crystal was kind of a slog.

Who’s Andrew? :/

Man...come on. If at this point you don't know who Andrew is, there's nothing I can do to help you.

4 Crystals in
warrior mixed with monk is good
just got the dinosaur whatever pass

Please tell me there's a crystal in the Jail dungeon
also, mastered warrior, is that reward the same for all classes?
game is great, best jrpg i've played in years

>Please tell me there's a crystal in the Jail dungeon
There is. You have to go from wing to wing getting all the keys and eventually in the east wing you should get a key that unlocks the north wing where the crystal is.
>is that reward the same for all classes?
Yes. However masters for the advanced classes are a little trickier to find as they are not located in the main city.

Typo on my part, I meant the west wing is where you get the key for the north wing (at least I think). It's been like 20 hours since I was in there.

Thanks brah

I feel like there's a weird jump in difficulty after the trial cave that even when you figure out what the easiest path is, it's still hard? tho maybe I'm undergeared.

anybody know what I should mix a wizard with?

I managed to sneak into sequoia castle early at lvl 29 but it seems like there's nothing I can do in there at the moment. Also I found 1 gold in a hidden chest on the very top right of the castle ramparts which was super nice.

Early on, I would recommend Warlock over wizard. It has access to refresh to help with early game MP issues as well as a passive that auto applies refresh.
And from a pure DPS standpoint, Warlock isn't too bad as it can debuff with Blaze and shit. Wizard has major MP issues until later so I found myself not doing much damage with them as I was just out of MP most of the time. I really regretted not dipping into Warlock earlier.

How do you get the summoner crystal? I know its in the northen cave but I can;t seem to find a path in there that doesn't loop back outside.

Do you have the owl yet? It's in the cave north of the ice area shrine and you'll need that to progress through that dungeon.

I must be blind because I can only find about 5 of the 8 quizards I need to talk to. Are there some outside the village?

ill wait for a discount but it looks nice so I gon buy it at 20% off.

Learn the MP regen passive from Warlock if you haven’t already. It’s so helpful for sustaining MP in dungeons.

I posted this in the /vrpg/ thread but figure I'll post it here in case anyone cares.

Here is my first attempt at replacing most of the tracks with tracks from the FFXI OST that should (hopefully) fit pretty well with each zone. Any suggestions would be appreciated if zones feel out of place.

Also I'm a pretty big retard so I'm sure I've fucked up looping on some of the tracks so apologies for any awkwardness. Mostly did this for my personal enjoyment but figured I'd share.

You just need to put the BGM folder with the music in the Audio folder and then replace the bgm.config file. I'd recommend backing it up but it's a pretty basic text file that just points to tracks.

NOTE: I haven't replaced all the tracks because I haven't seen all the zones yet so I'm not sure what would really fit into the later zones. I think I missed some of the boss / battle themes too because there's a lot of them. I may go back and edit it later once I get a little further in the game...

Where the fuck do I go after the proving meadows? I feel like I've wandered all over delende and the seaside cliffs and can't figure anything out. Can anyone give me a general direction?

Have you gotten the crystal in Delende yet? Should be a cave you can enter all the way to the north east.

there's a cave entrance in the seaside cliffs. how many crystals do you have?

Shaman, scholar, fencer, aegis.

>28 huebux
Fuck you Andrew.

My friend played it, she got soft filtered by the open world aspect (she also did in Elden Ring) but got to the final boss which she didn't care enough to beat
She did find all but one of the crystals though, where IS the mime crystal? Is it a ff5 reference like I was predicting it would be?

So have you been to the city yet? Sounds like you need to go to the rolling meadows east of the city to get your quintar mount.

What city?

In that case it sounds like you didn't go completely through the trial cave. At the end of it, you should be on a balcony high above the entrance. You can keep scaling that cliff and it should lead you to a city.

I got the third crystal and currently doing the trial
I understimated the lenght of it and those shroom can really be dangerous.
With my limited classes unlocked, I like fencer multihit (and gaining the aggro of six rats doing that) and the scholar (good ol' blue mage, but you don't need to get hit so it's more fun)

also does the game open up after that?
Because right now there is no other way to proced excluding get ALL the crystals in all the areas and pass this trial

>there's special dialogue for trying to register for a race while already in one

Does it have cunning characters?

>also does the game open up after that?
The game mostly opens up at specific points where you get access to various mounts. There's 4 different mounts and every time you get one, it opens up a ton of new options for exploring.

did you complete the trial

It has a Rogue class if that's what you mean. They have an ability called "Pocket Sand"

Andrew, stop making these fucking threads.

where's the discount andrew?

It just came out man...rent is expensive in Canada.

yeah, Andrew if you discount this I'll buy 2 copies for me and my friend

Thanks user. The ending of the cave did seem unsatisfying.

Game has like a 5+ hour demo, but here's the link if you just want to download it.

steamunlocked.net/crystal-project-free-download/

I think 1.0.6 just released but it's a few minor bug fixes. 1.0.5 has the nice map change that makes it easier to reveal the map.

put it on xbox Andrew and I will buy it

jej, alright then

what part did you think was the ending? I'm interested to know because none of it seemed like an 'end' until the actual end, to me at least.

I assume he got to the balcony and thought that was the end and you had to jump off.
Because that's exactly what I did as well, set my home point and jumped off and wandered around looking for a new way to go.
It's only when I ended up dying and being ported back that I noticed you could jump up there.

It's built in FNA so it should be pretty easy to port to XBox

Is the rogue interrupt just kind of random? I've been trying to use it to cancel spells the enemies are about to cast and it doesn't seem to stop them from casting. Or does it only work on certain things?

20% off a 13 buck game user, are those 3 dollaridoos really gonna break the bank?

Only somewhat dislike that youl'll often have areas that literally only have 1 type of encounter. Like that squid cave having nothing but 6 rats as fights. Granted I cleared that cave in 15 minutes but I hope this doesn't stay a problem

Pretty sure Rogues interrupt only works on spells that have to be charged, and it only interrupts a spell if that is the next action the enemy will perform.
You can usually tell if a spell is charged because the enemy will get a turn where they do nothing, then cast a spell on another turn.

Anyway, pretty much completed the game. Beat all the optional bosses, got the true ending and have unlocked everything except the jade caverns because they need a bunch of quintar breeding which is just annoying.
Solid game though. Legitimately one of the best JRPGs I've played in a long time. World design is excellent and I'm surprised a single guy could make a world that big and interconnected.

It only works on spells with a cast time, the mob will have a ... symbol on the timeline and then later the spell (usually the black circle for black magic, haven't seen any other spells with a cast time used by enemies), and you have to use Trick Slash between that ... and the actual cast of the spell
You get a job that can help with timeline manipulation later, but just using Sleep Bomb on enemies with AoE spells and focus firing the others worked well enough for me

Can you give me some hints what the required steps for the true ending are? I haven't found anything that links back to the final area or the "plot line" of the party you fight there

Thanks...I always thought that turn was just there to take damage from bleeds or whatever. That makes more sense.

I'm one fucking thread away from filtering this shit

>game has a pretty unique threat / aggro mechanic (at least for JRPGs)
>tanks are way too weak and normally die in 1-2 hits
What did Andrew mean by this...I can tell he liked FFXI quite a bit because NIN tank is kind of the only way to go in this.

You have to fight 5 optional bosses hidden around the world (mostly underwater), collect items from them and take this to a certain location.
At this location you have to fight another boss who drops a seed.
You plant this seed and wait until it grows, then fight this enemy (which is easy).
This enemy drops a stone to teleport to another boss.
Beat this boss and then you get a certificate.
Challenge the last boss while holding this certificate to fight a harder version of it and unlock the true ending.

There is also a bunch of other optional bosses dotted around the world, but they mostly just give or protect loot.

very based

Where do I get maps of zones?
