No. Tidus' design (same goes for the pretty much the entire cast) is fundamentally jarring to the Beach/watersport theme. I usually don't mind the Japanese over-the-top flamboyance in their character designs, but the FF characters all look chuuni as fuck.

They don't even need to look up pacific aesthetics for their design. They could've just borrowed some okinawan elements. Okinawan traditional clothing are excessively colorful anyway, so it will lend itself well to the FF aesthetics. Yuna looks like she awkwardly teleported from Shinjuku to Samoa.

Honestly, I feel like that problem with vidya character design as it goes on is everyone is too afraid to go unique or wild with their designs because of being conditioned by the internet to think anything that isn't generic shit is 'cringe deviantart shit no one likes or will laugh at you over' and thus slowly more and more ensuring only generic knights/soldiers/dude in pants and t-shirt is all we get barring some Jap dev coked on 15 layers of meth making some truly crazy designs.
