It wasn't just the Pokedex thing, people listed article after article of all the anti-consumer bullshit that GF was just getting away with. SwSh was the most profitable Pokemon game to date. When asked about why the answers were always some variation of

I mean sure. But the idea of paying to use my own internet is weird as fuck to me. I can literally stream games from my pc to my phone and play them on an 8bitdo controller at work. And it works pretty damn well besides some very light input lag. And Steam Link is just free.

I don't see what's "convenient" about paying to access multiplayer or stream games remotely. With Netflix or HBO Max I save myself a ton of hard drive space (over 10tb at minimum) and have a wide gamut of things to watch, can watch it anywhere, resume exactly where I was etc. That's convenient, and at the same time I admit I mostly just do it for my girlfriend's sake. It's called Netflix and Chill for a reason man, Netflix has been there supporting me through 3 different relationships this past decade. Pretty sure PSN never got me laid.

Maybe I'd like PSN+ if you actually had access to a ton of games like Game Pass. At least Microsoft has the right idea.

It was a bunch of shit. People were bitching at the textures. At the animations. The rationale for Dexit was that the animations of the Pokemon who made it would be improved. But not only was there no change, it was discovered that the models for the Pokemon were almost universally lifted from the 3DS games animations and all. Zacian spinning on a swivel because it didn't actually have any turning animations was memed to heck. The same as the spinning Wingull from the Treehouse demo. There was a lot of shit. But it all ended up irrelevant because at the end of the day, people who buy Pokemon don't give a fuck about none of that shit. The brand itself is a religion. Gamefreak could package every game with a pinched off turd and collectors would try and collect all the colors and corn hunt.

Just so we're clear at how little GF gives a fuck nowadays: fans praised Pokemon for ditching the enhanced versions and using DLC. Good job Pokemon. SwSh has 2 DLC packs in its season pass. Each DLC pack costs thirty fucking dollars. Meaning getting both is the price of a full fucking game. And the biggest draw to both is selling you back the Pokemon that were removed from the initial Galarian Dex. But more than that: if you want to use Pokemon Home, which is Pokemon's cloud server and the primary way to bring old Pokemon from the handheld systems to SwSh, it costs $16 for a year long subscription. So in order to get the complete Pokemon experience you have to pay $137. And that's not getting into the split versions and collecting Pokemon from there.

Pokefags really did try to wake people up to this shit. Not even maliciously, just a sort of "what the fuck are we letting happen" sort of deal. But no one cared.
